Idk, "normal conservatives" includes people like MAP Walsh at this point. Plus pedo cults like IBLP have a surprising amount of influence on the GOP.

The nonce problem amongst conservatives runs deep, and them trying to turn the focus on LGBTQ people as being the real pedos to distract from it isn't new. I don't think it's a coincidence the current wave kicked off after the SBC sex abuse scandal broke and states like Ohio started trying to force 10 year-olds to give birth.

Pedophilia being normalized, especially against girls, is a conservative viewpoint in the sense that for most of human history it was sadly normalized and perfectly legal. It was only relatively recently people realized it was wrong to sexually abuse kids and started trying to do something about it (particularly women since IIRC early feminists are the main reason age of consent is even a thing).

That's not to say every single right of center normie is a nonce, but the pedo problem with conservatives isn't exactly what I'd call fringe no matter how much they try to insist it is.

When I worked retail the store I was at had one full-time maintenance worker who was a young, attractive Latina woman. She was hired a few months after I was so I can attest what she told me to be true. Before she became a regular the restrooms were still gross but no more than normal, then when she came on she was not only getting men attempting to walk in and grope her while cleaning out their restrooms, but some would become so pissed off that she was ignoring them that a couple of them would straight up use the toilets and urinals while she was cleaning the areas. There were other times when men were literally shitting in the urinals and pissing all over the floor and it got so bad she demanded to my manager to hire another maintenance worker to help her out, after three months she refused to clean the men’s rooms after these incidences. They got a homely middle aged dude to start cleaning the restrooms and after that the incidents happened less. She told me later that she believed men were doing it to piss her off, or because they thought it was funny. I don’t know what the fuck these guys were thinking but I am appalled by how disgusting they were.

From my experience the bullying doesn't happen anymore, in heavy industry at least. Women are accepted without a second thought everywhere I've ever worked. The sexual harassment and assaults haven't changed a bit, though. At least the guys get fired for it now, but it's still really disturbing how often it happens.
