So I had to be hospitalized for the first time in my life this year. I had gone to the ER for what I thought was a minor issue (possible allergic reaction), but it turned out to be quite serious. I was physically and mentally unprepared for having to be admitted.

I have panic disorder; health issues are high up on my anxiety list, and it was noticeable to the extent that a nurse remarked that I looked absolutely terrified.

Most of my hospital stay was a blur because of the sleep deprivation due to the series of tests and having blood drawn and vitals taken like every two hours. I can't even tell you whether the following incident occurred in the early hours of the first or second night...

There I was staring at the hospital ceiling pondering my mortality, not even able to distract myself with my phone because the IVs in my arm make bending them painful, when in walks the latest phlebotomist. I feel like shit and probably look like shit, and definitely still look scared and vulnerable at this point.

He introduces himself quietly, and slowly walks over and bends over me much more closely than any other phlebotomist had done. His face is mere inches from my face as he raises his eyes to mine and says in what he must have thought was a seductive manner: "I hope you feel better soon." It was all very deliberate and very cheesy lol.

I can't help but wonder what turned him on more- the vulnerability or the fear in my eyes?
