Some have mentioned this, so I know many of you will be familiar with the story about the French man who drugged and filmed his wife being raped by over 70 men over a 10 year period. 50 were indetified and on trial, hiding their faces from cameras. With the trial moving forward, we now know more.
These rapists were aged 24-70 years old, including paramedics, lawyers, etc. Also including men with children, neighbours, colleagues. Of all the men he approached in online chat rooms to rape his wife, only 30% declined, and NONE of them reported him.
Quote from the daughter: “These men ... they're just ordinary people... they are a representative sample of French society. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. When you see their profiles, it's chilling because they have children. Most of them are in a relationship, it's surreal.”
The above quote is from an interview the daughter did, and one of the hosts said it was like a network—still coping, trying to ‘other’ these men somehow. The daughter immediately said no, there was no network modeled. He got into contact with the men through various means, including dating websites and mainly a forum. They were a random sample of society. He would eventually ask them if they were into “the rape method” like him, and would share images in forums called “without their knowledge.”
He was only caught because he filmed upskirt shots of women in a store, who reported him to the police who searched his phone and found endless videos of the same limp woman being raped. Only women saved her. The victim, Gisèle, was 60 years old when she found out about this. She wanted a public trial so the world could now how depraved these men are. Her lawyer, Babonneau, stated "She wanted it to be a public trial so that everyone can hear and get an idea of the excuses given by men in such circumstances.”
Excuses included that she thought she was just pretending to be asleep. She was on a tranquilliser doses so high she could have died, and was described by police as “inanimate” in the rape videos. There is no conceivable way anyone thought she was able to consent. Others said they just did what the husband said, and don’t know why… “don’t know why” yet did everything with an erection and raped her for their own pleasure, while she’s as limp as a corpse, and they “don’t know why”. They all deserve to be stoned to death, at minimum.
One woman interviewed said rapists aren’t madmen, monsters, or dropouts, they are fathers integrated to society. That’s what rapists are. They are ordinary men.
The people who lie about rape the most are men. There needs to be classes in schools specifically teaching women about cases like this. No one can afford to be naive. This is only a case we know about.
