I don't want to AKSHUALLY anyone, because I don't know much about this cat thing, but this doesn't strike me as plausible. The plague is genuinely fascinating, would recommend anyone to delve into the history of it if you're into that sort of thing. I'm no expert, but I do love this shit, and the cat massacre thing raises more questions than it answers.

The bacteria that causes bubonic plague (Yersinia pestis) is spread through fleas. Some wild rodents are also natural carriers, to this day. I agree that the cat massacre raises more questions than answers.

Cats are fastidious and tend to lick the fleas off themselves, but they did indeed host fleas that spread plague. It's not clear if they could catch the plague by ingesting fleas, or if it needed to be transmitted by bite (directly into the blood). While cats would kill rats/mice, I feel like cats would also be more likely to interact with humans, putting people physically closer to the fleas. But even then, fleas live in the environment, not on the animal (they only jump onto animals to bite), so I don't think cats would have significantly decreased the amount of people exposed to the plague simply by killing mice and rats.

Fleas were literally everywhere and in every house back then - any place that had something soft the fleas could live in, like blankets, pillows, and rugs. I think the cat massacre did fuck-all to help, other than letting men pat their dumb asses on the back yet again for another JOB WELL DONE, BOYS.

My older brother has a disorder that causes behavioral issues and learning delays. He can function same as anyone else but acts like a manchild and thinks everyone else is as retarded as he is. Massive victim complex whenever he gets caught doing something wrong, it's not his fault. Actual case of him being caught with his hand in the cookie jar and insisting he was just moving it with crumbs all over his face and every cookie gone. He was 12. He is fully aware of when he does something wrong, but he doesn't care. He'd kill any family pet we had. Lizards, hamsters, fish, and a bird sacrified in the name of "he doesn't understand" even when he'd try to hide the evidence. He got violent enough that my parents had to pull him out of middle school to home school him after he got held back for a year. He got held back 2 more years in home school. Numerous trips to the psych ward after making viable threats against family members or actually attacking them and me. Numerous calls to the police. He'd also sexually harass random girls, grope them in crowded hallways, or force them to kiss him. He had been on multiple medications, seen multiple therapists, multiple tests run to figure out his disorder, and was still doing so when this was happening. He's not autistic, he is completely self aware. He ended up molesting a toddler after a therapy session. My mom was still reluctant in sending him to jail, instead convincing the judge to send him to a halfway house and allowing home visits. He admitted he has no remorse for the toddler thing and went on the rape a 14 year old (at 20) but the charges were dropped when they couldn't find sufficient evidence. She helped get his record scrubbed and still asks my dad to send him money even though he openly brags about beating his girlfriend on facebook.

I never studied, I'd lock myself in my closet as soon as I got home to read or draw and once we had a family computer, fucked around online playing flash games or pirating music or making LOLcats and rage comics. I was a shut-in and hated socializing. Even with friends, I wouldn't hang out with them outside of school too often because it was exhausting. I always wondered why that was, and after spending years having random bouts of intense anxiety, was diagnosed with a psychotic disorder at 15. My mom insists to this day nothing is wrong and I'm just shy. Asking your sister to turn down the TV when it's not on is not shyness. I was not allowed to seek further treatment and despite this, I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, won multiple school, county, and national awards and contests for film, art, or writing. No drugs, no run-ins with police, no psych holds despite my condition. I never even got an in school detention. My dad has a photo and interview I did for a local paper framed on the wall. I was finally allowed to seek treatment at 21 and dear god the fucking resentment when I realized how easy I could've had it had my mom allowed me the right medication.

To my mom, my brother and I are the same person and I "am just as bad as him". She has threatened to involuntarily commit me for not wanting to talk to her, threatening to tell the police I'm suicidal to get me arrested, holding my diagnosis that she doesn't believe is real over my head. She stole money I had saved for college but regularly deposits a few extra dollars into my brother's account because he can't hold down a job and leeches off his girlfriend he calls a dog. She refers to me as a slacker for never doing homework, calls me a pain in the ass child for dragging her to the pyschiatrist "for nothing", and insists I'm insane for having taken a medication my brother was also on, but her precious retarded pedo rapist son can do no wrong. He tried his best despite his limitations after all. He's just a victim of his malformed genetics and him literally trying to stab her was a whoopsie daisy. I take great pleasure in knowing he hates her despite her best efforts to coddle him anyway.
