DMZ ♀ Official Kiwi Farms Man-Hate Thread

This thread is a DMZ (De-Moidified Zone) and is strictly for women. Men and trannies (men) shitting up the thread will be removed from the entire Lolcow Salon for a month.
Basically the entire woman hate thread in mass debates is just gay men and prison gays jerking each other off and whining about Null because he is a gender traitor who likes the gorlz better.
Don't forget jerking each other off about women are totally lying about getting sexually harassed as children and shit like that (even though it's basically a universal female experience).

Ripley is a good character, but she isn't a good female character. You could replace her with a man and apart from one or two scenes of her crying/screaming, literally nothing in the movie would change.
I don’t think that’s a bad thing, I see it as a plus. She is a great character - she’s not playing on being a woman, she is just a human being fighting an utterly alien and implacable predator. That’s always been something a lot of the good sci fi had as a ‘given’- that the casual sexism we have now is gone in the future, and it’s your personality and abilities that count. I think I grew up during a very interesting window of time where that was more of what was allowed to girls.
I dislike a lot of the new female characters because they aren’t good characters, they’re just ‘token girl’ or Mary Sue, and that’s a huge shame.
There were quite a few films of that era with a similar ‘feel.’ The idea of something completely alien relentlessly stalking you down. Terminator, predator, alien. It must have been something in the zeitgeist.
The fact she’s in her undies at the end is a device to heighten her vulnerability -the crew are shown as having this little cosy domestic sphere of pods that are so safe they’re in their undies and then you contrast that with the fact it’s a thin shell against hard vacuum and this THING hunting them. It’s not sexual, it’s a very effective way of showing vulnerability. When she finally gets to some point she thinks she can shed the dirt and get the cat, she realises it’s still there. Again it’s that contrast with the safety and the horror. It’s an exceptionally well done film. It scared the bejesus out of me when I first saw it.
how this burning hate for men translates into your irl life? How do you interact with male coworkers, family members, friends, partners...?
I don’t hate men. I get along with most of them just fine. I very much dislike the kind of men who Troon out, beat their wives and abuse their kids. I think most men are fine. It would be nice if the men in the women hate thread realised that most women are fine as well. Are some nightmarish BPD horrors? Yup. That’s humanity for you.

Judge for yourselves if that Alien scene had to be shot that way. Was it iconic? Yes. Was it sexy? Yes. Was it 100% necessary to be presented in this exact way? I do not think so.
I just heard too many men drool over Rippley in her underwear in Alien so I assumed it was at least somewhat aimed at a male gazey audience, that's why I never had any interest in checking it out myself. Watching that clip I feel that it's definitely supposed to appeal to men watching and sexualizes her quite a bit. There's zero reason she can't at least wear a bra and underwear that covers her asscrack. I would be uncomfortable watching that on a date with a man or with my family. I will continue giving this one a pass.

I am not sure if I'm correct, any Alien enthusiasts in this thread may feel free to correct me but I read somewhere that in the OG script she was supposed to not wear the undies at all but because Sigourney Weaver had pubic hair in her crotch region that she refused to shave, the director had to settle down with her being in undies.
I know this is a Female Demilitarized Zone, and as a skeleton with masculine bone structure I'm unwelcome here. But please, PLEASE lead me to these posts. I fucking LOVE laughing at stupid people.

Do you ever read threads like this and just think to yourself. These dudes can’t be real. They have to be trolling. Like surely to GOD they have to be trolling. There is like something deep inside me that refuses to believe those men are being sincere. That they aren’t really that lost. It’s just so fucking hard for me to take them seriously.

I just have to believe it’s a troll. How can real men walking around IRL actually behave and believe those things. It has to be a joke. It just has to be.

I always wondered why men seem to have so much hatred towards women... they are angry because Stacy didn’t fuck them in high school.
It's because of childhood porn addiction
they try their goddamn hardest to say that it's good because "muh it helps with my stress" and then they seethe when they see a woman doing something that doesn't align with their porno fantasy a la "MAHH!!! WHY IS THIS FEMALE CHARACTER IN THIS VIDEO GAME UGLEY!!!" or aligns too much with their porno fantasy "MAHH!!! SINGLE MOTHERS ARE RAN THROUGH WHORES!!!!"

What hobbies do you have that are social and don't attract any men/trannies? I used to go to yoga but too many creepy men there, I might return since they're offering women's only classes now (no international wymym allowed too, thank fuck). I also go to ballet and contemporary dance classes, those have basically 0 men too.
I go to the gym pretty often and I don't really have men approaching me. But I do have bad RBF so that may be why.

Speaking of favorite female characters: Nausicaä, Sheeta, basically any Ghibli girl really. They are strong and capable, but without trying to turn them functionally male.
Also Clarice Starling, my troon shooting queen.

I skimmed this thread last night and I know I'm risking starting a huge spergout, but I swear this question comes from a place of genuine curiosity: how this burning hate for men translates into your irl life? How do you interact with male coworkers, family members, friends, partners...?
Due to my line of work and types of hobbies I have, around 95% of my social interactions are with men. I've experienced my share of bullshit, but even then I can't imagine being able to carry this kind of pure, raging bloodlust (like @FarmVille seems to, for example) and still being a somewhat functional human being on daily basis.
Clarice Starling is an excellent choice.

This thread serves a way for me to let off steam. I don't avoid associating with men irl and I don't treat men as lesser-than irl either. In the back of my head, I am braced for moid behavior, but I give them the benefit of the doubt. Same with brown people and gays.

No to all of this. Just because you like female characters to be 'feminine' or 'three dimensional' does not make female characters who aren't bad female characters. Any issues with that is a you problem and has nothing to do with the character.
You did not understand my post. Characters can go into one, and only one, of the following categories:
1) Good character
2) Good male character
3) Good female character
4) Bad character
5) Bad male character
6) Bad female character

Ripley is a good character, but not a good female character. She is a character with a woman paint job. You could stick a man in that role and nothing would change. Indeed, as other posters have pointed out, Ripley was originally intended to be a man. Even the kinda weird final scene where she's in her underwear, I had interpreted as an attempt to have her cornered with this monster while in a very vulnerable state, like the shower fight in Eastern Promises.

Halle Berry's Catwoman is an example of a bad female character. She's bad, but her growth is about learning about her femininity and embracing it. Don't get me wrong, it sucks. But you couldn't shove a dude into that role, nothing about the themes or plot would work. It's a very specifically (shitty) female story. To the show of no one, it was written by men.

See above, I mostly agree with you. I don't think Ripley's a bad character. I just don't think she should be people's go-to for female representation on film.

And nothing would change if male action heroes like Goku were women but for some reason they all have to be dudes.

I was always frustrated as a kid that most "tomboy" characters were just girls who liked sports that were girly as hell otherwise. It felt like you couldn't have a truly masculine female character, someone like me, like they had to have a minimum number of girly traits or become girlier eventually (with it being treated as character growth). I made up a bunch of Mary Sue that were basically just female versions of edgelord male action heroes because those were the kind of characters I wanted to see.

Raptor Red didn't have to be a female utahraptor, but kid me thought it was so badass that not only was there a book where the main character was a raptor, but a girl raptor at that. I had an easier time relating to a fucking utahraptor that neither knows nor cares about human gender stereotypes than most female human characters in media at the time.

Before I read the community note my first thought when looking at the image on the far right (2040*) was that these gross dudes are spending too much time around teenage/young women because, while women vary in their preferences, I don't know any adult woman that would find that attractive. That dude looks like a child! 🤢
These dudes are obsessing over teen girl preferences!

(*Note: I didn't see the moobs on 2040 at first)

Basically the way the images line up from right to left is how I know that many womens preferences in men have evolved.

When I was a teenager, my friends and I were absolutely adamant that we'd never date a guy who looked like 1940 because "eww chest is hair is disgusting" and would be more interested in 2010/2040 (sans moobs)
Now that we're older, those two look way too young and I'd be giving the side eye to a woman my age who was attracted to them.

But lol, of course it's some weird fucking dude fetish for making femboys.

So it was paedos either way.

Okay, people like this haven’t actually looked at historical images from the 1940s if they think every guy from that era looked like a bodybuilder.

According to a quick search, the average American infantryman in WWII was 5'8" and weighed around 140 lbs at induction. I own several WWII uniforms made for men who were smaller than that, like Audie Murphy, who was one of the most decorated soldiers of the war and a certifiable manlet at 5'5" and 110 lbs. The Depression probably had a lot to do with this thanks to poverty and malnutrition kicking half the country's ass for almost a decade. Even during the war they tended to lose a shitload of weight on campaign due to fighting in shitty conditions with inadequate food for months at a time, so they often came out looking skinnier than when they'd gone in.

tl;dr Anyone who claims men of the '40s were all Captain America lookalikes is either trolling or a tard who doesn't know anything about history. In this case I think it's safe to assume the latter.
