Official Space Station 13 Server

I have been playing this game for over a decade.
There's a darkmode?
Dark mode has been added to /tg/code at least in the last couple of years (?), yeah.

Click the little Settings wheel next to the Music button in the chatlog. You should see a dropdown selection for choosing between light and dark modes.

Note: You'll have to retoggle it every time the server reloads for a new round because, for whatever dumb reason, it will revert the TOP half of the chatbox (where the server info and various tabs are located) back to light mode. Not sure if that's just a problem on Kiwi or if it also happens on updated /tg/code in general. Used to not be a problem earlier in the year.

A lot of shit used to "not be a problem" a year ago. This, the WASD issue, not reconnecting at round end. All of this is new, QoL degradation, that no one takes credit for. Either Byond has gotten substantially worse since Sseth or they're just actively ruining their own game.

Half-certain it's not BYOND that's the issue, but /tg/ coders breaking shit that didn't need fixing, as they do.

I'm fine with settling for the old "ORANGE MAN BAD" (the coder) meme as an excuse.

I've never touched byond code before so how feasible this is escapes me, but would it not be easier to roll back Tranny code 18 months and then implement the changes you want?

Probably more effort than it's worth. My list of complaints isn't that long. I'm just going to try fixing it.

I've had enough practice now that I think I've become pretty good at surviving and getting things done in lavaland. More often than not I get lots of chest loot and more points than I can spend. Sometimes of course I meet another miner who has been doing it for much longer and it is impressive to see some of the strategies they employ.

I just have one question. Is it even supposed to be possible to kill megafauna? Even the most experienced players I've seen out there haven't succeeded and I've played many rounds by now. What is the purpose of having them if they're essentially unkillable? Most of them move as fast or faster than the player, have enough health that you can fire into them for minutes on end with seemingly no impact and will kill you in one hit that more often than not is unavoidable because you got that stupid direction moving bug or had a millisecond of lag.

I'm going to keep trying, maybe getting every chest from every tendril just isn't enough and I need to start opening the tumors too though honestly I don't think any amount of chest loot is going to make the fights more doable. Does anyone have any suggestions as for how this can be done? Do we just need to dump in literally hundreds of hours so we can memorize the moves of every boss to a hyperautistic extent? Is it just near impossible at this point?

Its possible but generally you gotta be fucking psychotically robust. I've done it with help from others, but there were rounds on other servers before this one would exist I'd be working in Cargo and one dude would come up with loot solely dropped from the megafauna according to the wiki.

I'm no expert but I see a lot of people show up with the Hierophant staff, and in my own attempts I've hanged in the fight with it pretty long, so it might be the best one to try and start with if you're going solo, or at a round start find the other miners and get organized. Just try to get the station's mineral needs taken care of first so you don't fuck the round if bubblegum curbstomps all three of you in the first two minutes of a fight.

Here's a Q for everyone. I'm working on a new R&D thing because I hate the changes they're planning for /tg/.

My problem is, I want to get rid of nanite research points. This is for technical reasons. Because of how nanites work, every single fucking node in the node web has a list() value for costs, but most of them are just list(regular points = value). A few have nanite research requirements too.

What could I do instead? I have no experience with nanites. Would it really hurt to just get rid of nanite research point requirements?

I did nanites a few times, the Nanite RP generates quickly and feels artifical, but if you have an autistic RD who REEEES if you touch his console it's hard to keep track of it.

Yes. Nanites are pretty powerful, that's why they aren't roundstart. As for what nanites are, they are also kind of like circuits (RIP) except for genetics and with some viro mixed in.

You should merge both so that nanites actually boost your research points by a little with the more people have nanites in their body.

But nanites can also either kill you or make you controllable by the guy at the console...

Not sure whose's retarded from the TGcodebase was to only have the R&D console in the RD's office. We could re-add the console to the main R&D room, not really an issue since we can just print the board from the protolathe at sci and make it easily enough.

Being a station engineer is no fun let me tell you:

>be me
>newly transferred station engineer, arrive 30 minutes into the station shift, only one onboard
>everyone's bitching because no power
>AI says he'll fix solars, say i'll do it, I gotta learn it might as well do now.
>Get a fucking immovable rod smashed through my body while suiting up.
>AI Borg drags me to med
>Get healed going back to get suited up
>Entire station gets radiation leak, spend 2 minutes in the maint' tunnels hoping my body didnt get Chernobyl'd
>Get to work
>AI shows me how to set up the first Solar Array
>Thanks AI
>Go arond fixing an other Array, fought one Carp and barely holding on but the shift must go on
>Go towards last array, fucking space shark cruising around
>Run from shark who is currently lusting after my space ass
>See these blue circles everywhere, they look familiar
>Arrival shuttle warps in and and gibs me into oblivion
>Evac shuttle is called 2 minutes later.
