>Be Ian Brandon Anderson, humble Atmospheric Technician.
>Hear SM starting to fuck itself. Fix that shit up real good. I also scream 'niggers' a bunch at the other engineering staff.
(Protip: replace the goddamn pressure pumps in the supermatter gas loop with straight pipes or digital valves, and swap the gas filter into the canisters for a straightpipe. You want to minimize the amount of clog points in the loop).
>Watch retard HoS start randomly firing at some other atmostech. I don't intervene but get knocked out by N2O flood. Borg bails my ass out after a time, and I go in and fix the leak.
>Captain starts bitching over announcements that the station exploded. I put on a hardsuit and go over to cap's office to fix it. It's just a small hole in the side, Cap could've easily patched it themselves. I go inside, and look around.
>THE CAPTAIN LEFT THE FUCKING NUKE DISK ON THEIR DESK. IT WAS SITTING IN THE OPEN.
(Tip: DO NOT FUCKING LEAVE THE DISK OUT LIKE THIS. IF YOU DO, THE ADMINS WILL SUMMON NUKE OPS).
>Pick up the disk and stow it away. Call the captain a retard over comms.
>Someone in bloodstained armor offers me AA. I decide that the Captain was too stupid to use theirs, and accept the offer. Like an idiot, I just swap my card to captain.
>Am swiftly arrested by Security. I don't resist arrest.
>Captain leaves me unsupervised in a cell with a hardsuit, insuls, headset, and toolbelt.
(Tip: What the fuck? Take that shit off of people!)
>Am broken out by bloodstained armor guy anyway. I want to go to ATMOS to get the axe, but the the time I arrive, a golem swiped the axe.
>I decide to start experimenting with the gasses as a "retard tax", but fail to poison the air supply.
>Mildly annoyed, I head to EVAC and get beaten to death by monsters.
>Spawn as a Plasma Golem. Scream "Allah" and explode.
>Spawn as another Plasma Golem. Beat a guy to death, slip into a hole in the shuttle, and fly off into space forever, screaming about Allah.
>I am an atmospheric technician.

>Be Ian Brandon Anderson, the Head Of Security.
>Got a long day ahead of me. A lot of rookies, and a lot of traitors.
>Get all my shit in order, talk over comms. Remember: Good sec departments talk. Bad sec departments die.
>Help out a few rookies, turn on my pinpointer.
>Captain didn't secure the fucking disk again.
>
Tell the AI to let me into Cap's quarters. I secure the disk.
>Head on back to brig. Someone broke the fucking armory windoor
>It was the fucking captain.
>
What the fuck? I decide to file a report to admemes and tell the Warden to do the same.
(Seriously, this captain 1: Didn't secure the disk, and 2: broke the armory windoor when they, as Captain, had AA. The Station was also on Blue Alert at the time.
>Some fucking lizard officer steals the reflector vest and lethal guns. The retard didn't put on his HUDSGlasses so I pepper spray him and take the shit back.
>Lizard steals captain's gear after we toss the captain in a cell. Pepper spray and shoving work wonders. Take the shit off of him and scream that he needs standard kit only.
>Traitor in a gas mask comes whizzing by. I'm holding a shotgun and empty rubbershot into him. Contractor kit on his person, I beat him to death with unpowered stunbaton (meant to beat him to crit, woops).
>Another traitor in a gas mask does a runner into and out of the brig. Rubbershot him just outside bar, drag him into perma. More traitor shit on him.
>I've spent most of the round in the brig now. I wrenched down the flashers at brig entrance and armory entrance and keep trying to coordinate through comms.
>Keep dicking around in brig, stunning dumbasses and teaching rookies about equipment and shoving.
>Hear reports of Swarmers in cargo. I decide to investigate.
>Head to Cargo, shit looks fine. Head back out, hear they're in SCI. Head to SCI, shit looks fine.
>Slimes start overtaking the station. I help out where I can (I swear the security temp gun killed slimes at one point) but the comms went down. Someone calls the shuttle and I tell everyone to hole up at EVAC.
>Catch a sleeping sickness but manage to barricade myself in the shuttle bridge. Warden joins me, I assume Captain and HoP were dead.
>Nap peacefully to CC.
>No traitors greentexed. Mission accomplished.
>I am the HoS.

Just a quick question to the miners. If a robotocist sends down a mining mech, will you use it?
Personally? No. Everyone's gonna want to use the mech because it's a mech, so unless all the Miners are tight with each other, someone's going to be mad gay about claiming it all for themselves.

I'd rather prefer Science just do their jobs and get us the fun stuff like KA mods, Advanced Cutters, and Bluespace BoHs.

There's a time to arm the Clown with Slime Nukes and there's a time to provide the staff with essential equipment, and the former always comes before the latter. (Especially if there's no RD and noone knows how to construct a Research Console)

>not just arming the Clown with a H.O.N.K. if you're going to be building mechs anyway

Do you even meme, bruh?

Only did Xeno so far. Until Sec busted 2/3-rd of the department for letting a slime lose, then I had to watch as one of my Xenobros got turned into a Borg after confessing under torture.

Kiwi shitcurity's shaping up well, I see.

Remember a round from last night where I started as Prisoner, did Prisoner things for a long while, got bored, wrote a note to the AI asking it to alert Sec so I could at least go to Lavaland and do work or something, it ended up letting me out of Security where I proceeded to head down to the bar, got drunk as fuck, Bartender suddenly handed me his shotgun and a bandolier of beanbag slugs to defend myself since there was a laughter demon on the loose, so I spent the next half hour drunkenly shouting provocations into comms for the laughter demon to come at me. Even had a fucking NT Deathsquad come in, see me, armed and drunkenly rambling, and just let me be since I was trying to help. Then, right in the middle of one of the laughter demon's spawns in the kitchen and every armed person nearby jumping in to fight, one Sec officer in the crowd spots me, drops everything he's doing amid the chaos to stunbaton me, everyone else stops, asks what the fuck he's doing, he screeches that I'm a prisoner then proceeds to whip out his Disabler to unload into me, and I swear, the Deathsquad immediately dogpiled and lynched the guy. Pretty funny show.

FYI the prison has everything you need to make spears and choke points.

I mean, to defend yourselves against the antags when they try to kill you of course.

> Be trans Jewish lawyer
> Immediately lynched for my religion and gender identity
> Crawl away
> Notice loaded shotgun conveniently on ground
> Take it
> Shoot lyncher in chest in self defense
> Arrested
> Anarchist shows up and blows up my cell door, setting me free
> Leave prison
> Immediately pass out because entire ship was flooded with plasma

> Be black environmental tech
> Arrested for crime I didn't commit
> Taken by security officer to shuttle
> Wind up on lava planet full of cultists
> Sec officer is a cultist
> Indoctrinated into cult
> Decide now is time to act
> Grab wrench
> Sneak up on cultist
> Stunned
> Sacrificed to dark lord

I missed this game.

Hah I remember that. I was the melanated individual running The Pizza Gate who served you free pizza. The death squad was very based.

The guy who grabbed me didn't know how to do it aggressively so despite being nugget porn I survived lol.
(Not me in the photo. Just that round in general)

So I had my favorite session last night.

I went paramedic as I am expanding my job roster. We had no doctors so I was really trying to learn how to run before walking. Not surgeries, just having to do treatments rather than just transporting. Head of Security was severely irradiated, helped with meds but not enough and he had me euthanize him with his energy pistol. Security didn't seem to mind, he did tell the AI it was ok.

However, I discovered that had bigger problems that helped me not get investigated. A laughter demon was loose in the station. He cornered me after taking a corpse to the morgue and I was quickly slain and eaten.

I followed along closely after though watching the guy terrorize the station. He seemed pretty good at it and was having a good time.

Then I got a pop-up that would change my session. Would I like to be a CentCom janitor. I think 'sure.' I've learned how important blood is and no one ever gets rezed in my experience.

What I got was a powered armored special forces janitor with an endless cleaning gun.

I then hada blast running throughout the base cleaning EVERYTHING while the security forces dealt with the demon.

Then we went back to CentCom and set up and ambush for after the round to cleanse all the surviving employees in the emergency shuttle for being tainted by the laughter demon.

So, some questions.

I'm starting to expand my horizons and explore new jobs. I feel like I have Janitor and Chef down pat, and Botany comfy in supplying food.

However, some of the next level complexity stuff I'm hesitant in. I've dabbled in plant mutation. I'd love to make pod people plants to help rez the slain. As well as science, cargo or mining.

However, it seems like the station goes to shit before I can take get any time into it. Is it bad luck? New players starting antag shit too quickly? Is that just how SS13 runs? A lot of nuclear agent, cult, or revolutionary rounds?

It seems like the longer sessions I've seen have been drawn out cat and mouses where I'm dead, the station is inactive but nobodies working to end it one way or the other for twenty minutes. The station only seems to run as a station for about 5-10 minutes before there are corpses and explosions everywhere, everything is on fire or flooded with plasma.

That's just how SS13 is.

Learn how to keep your head down and use your department's resources to your advantage to defend from antags and greytiders.
Botany can create traps and barricades in large amounts by growing the materials. Chefs gain CQC abilities in the kitchen, so you can beat down anyone that jumps the counter, and Janitor you can slip people and have bear traps in your office among other things like cleaning grenades. I think the beauty of SS13 is the ability to improvise and use what you have around you, so just explore ways you can use things around you to defend yourself. Also a lot of departments and areas have ways to close shutters so its a bit more difficult to target you while you get to work in peace.

Alternatively, there are usually places to work in maintenance that cover a lot of different fields and you can close them up and have the advantage of being out of the way so people don't bother you as much. Also it helps being friends with people like cargo, science, or even the AI and maybe you can ask for the supplies to build your dream work area in an abandoned office where nobody will find you.

and lastly I can say what others said, yeah, that's just how it is sometimes and I think the fact that there are a lot of new players means things go to shit a bit faster, and hopefully as time goes on the rounds will last a bit longer when the newbies learn the game more.
