That's rather the point. /b/ reached an immature reddit with rage comics and advice animal memes. /pol/ reached so far it got facebook boomers, black twitter and every where in between. The content is stale but it's still being made and those 2 memes are the only memes left and still going strong 5 years after their peak. Can you think of any /b/ memes that lived five years?

JoeCartoon had a theme of putting random characters into morbid situations and gutting them. Really appealed to my edgy sperglet side at the time. If I recall, Frog in a Blender actually went semi-viral (viral by the standards of a decade ago) and people who didn't even know what a computer was had heard about it. Good times.

It's a combination of two things, I think. Youtubers like Whang, or even Filthy Frank who sort of summarize/embody the shitlording of the so-called "golden era" coupled with a lack of understanding the actual zeitgeist of it. Younger people don't understand that zeitgeist, the irony behind shitlording or the humor behind being an edgelord. They look at it, think it's actually cool to be like that, and emulate it irl.

Something I always loved about 4chan was how it would just randomly do something like this, often at the very same time as harassing people at their daughter's funeral with text messages of pictures of her shattered head, or getting revenge on someone for harming a cat. Usually for no reason at all. The class of these that always amused me were fast food employees posting fuckery they'd done to food, and they were usually such morons that they left exif data in, so they'd get doxed and people would call their employers and inform them of their exploits and they'd get fired.
What was the name of that wanna be school shooter who got owned because the EXIF had his dad's name? That was a good one.
