It's fucking cold here and I am, once again, spending the season in Army boots. (The same ones I mentioned on the first page of this thread. These things are indestructible, I swear.) But something about the six inches of ice on my sidewalk makes me yearn for the kind of shoes that can't survive being run over with a truck.

Though is it just me, or have Louboutins gotten tackier lately? I swear there wasn't as much glitter the last time I poked my nose into their digital storefront. And I definitely don't remember seeing shoes that look like Aquaman's shiny pecs.
Is it bad that I really like those? I also like their now-discontinued men's loafers that have red roses on them.
But yeah, I went to the men's Louboutin store in NYC last month, and there was a lot of tacky. I especially dislike anything with spikes on it. I was surprised that the majority of clientele were youngish black dudes.

Shoes can be comfortable? Well, my entire life is a lie.

In terms of your basic dress shoes, I think that Payless makes THE most comfortable heels and flats.

In my opinion, every girl needs a pair of basic black heels and flats, and nude heels. Look no further than Payless. They are SO comfortable, and they go with everything. My pairs have lasted me 5+ years, too.

Also, call me a grandma, but I love TOMs. They are my favorite casual shoes to wear during the Spring and the Summer. I can walk in those all day and not feel any sort of pain by the end of the day. I've even worn them at theme parks ... They definitely passed the "no blisters or soreness" test. I love the variety of patterns and colors they come in, too. I have a pair with a nautical pattern that's super cute (and I get compliments by strangers every time I wear them).

Teen me saved up money for a pair of 1460 Doc Martens and 10 years later I still wear them almost every day. If you take good care of boots they’ll last forever.
I have a soft spot for some of Demonia’s and YRU’s shoes, but I can’t justify spending that much money on a cute but impractical shoe I would only wear for pictures.

I imagine all of these would probably be uncomfortable.

Had a really rad high school teacher in the early 90s, talking bright pink hair, was into techno, she had a pair of docs that were at least 20 years old, she said she would probably have to get a sole replacement in a few years time, but they look so good as they age.
I had a pair as well, but I ended up selling them to a mate for $70, I found them too heavy to rave in. Kicking myself now!

I *almost* finally got myself a pair of Doc Martens a year ago. The boots were a very dark green/almost black, and they had a shamrock pattern (that you'd be able to tell when you saw them up close; so I thought they looked awesome and not tacky).

I didn't get them ... And it haunts me to this day. I regret everything.

EDIT: Found a picture. Yup, still regretful about not getting them ...

Bugger, they're pretty dope! You should still get some! Or were they limited edition?

I never heard of that brand but I may have nightmares.

Eh, Toms are fine. I have a couple pair myself. Good on a day when you want comfort and are super casual. Plus somebody else gets a pair supposedly. Gonna have to say no on the Payless though.

The most comfortable shoes I have are an Italian brand called AGL. The are a simple cork wedge with a suede upper, but they have a padded instep and are a dream. Unfortunately they are beige and the color looks worn. They cost me a bit but I went back and tried to buy some in every color (especially black) and they were discontinued. You can’t put a price on a multipurpose shoe you can wear all day. I wore them to a wedding, a shopping trip and never felt them.

Louie’s don’t fit me now because my foot has suddenly gotten deformed. :) They are not designed towards a good fit that there is no wiggle room. But with all the glitter and mails and spikes I’d just be getting plain black pigelle. I have a hideous bunion. So I’m sticking to ones that cover my instep, now I want some Kiltie mules, Gucci or Tods.

You may find these ugly or not, but they are comfy and casual. I think they are made for olds but I dont care. I’m trying to get them in other colors but again....discontinued. I have the heels in navy, turquoise and back, and some flats in neutral. I’ve developed a bunion on one toe that I can’t get surgery for and these covers them up nicely.

I think those fish in the shoes are fake, I’ve seen them before. Dead or alive, they are ugly.

I'm pretty boring with my shoe fashion. My go too outfit is typically some sort of skinny pants with boots so I have an assortment of knee high boots. I'll pay a decent amount for boots but will cheap out on heels off Amazon just to have when I need to wear something else.

As a joke, my friend forever ago gifted me a pair of heels like this

I still have them because they come in handy for ridiculously themed parties.

Vintage Prada or Frye leather boots are mostly what I wear in the cooler and cold months. The vintage ones have real stitched soles and the leather quality is so much better than today’s.

One pair of brown and one pair of black. With a bit of patience can find them barely worn on eBay for $100-$300 and they last forever. since they have real stitched soles you can have them resoled and it extends their use even more.

(Boots like this, but I usually have a slightly lower stacked heel)

Another way to find really high quality leather boots for cheap is the old officer regulation army boots from the Vietnam era - those old boots they used to spit shine - and they are almost indestructible. Only trouble is it’s hard to find them in my since they were made in men’s sizes. I’ll post a photo of a pair later, but they are just perfect classic low black boots with side zips since they were for dress, not field.

Some people prefer the classic infantry lace up combat boots, like this, which are also top quality and easier to find. Ignore that guys list price, if you know what to look for you can find these type of boots at almost any goodwill or estate sale since hundreds of thousands of men 18-25 were issued two pairs for decades.

I live my entire life in those knock-off Toms Target sells.
They're ~$20 a pair and last way longer than a pair of Toms ever has.

I've yet to find a pair of heels or flats besides those that don't fucking rip my pinkie toe skin and the top of my big toe to shreds over the course of aday. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Maybe my toes are fat. I may never know.

I still can't understand the drive for "fuzzy" shoes like those even if it's total novelty (those are Adidas???!). I had a pair of Nikes I wore in the summer like that and they still were bombarded with dust and dirt to high heaven.

It's still funny hearing people ask to pet them, though.

I got a pair of these (The Nanette boot by Grenson) a month ago and have worn them nearly every day since. Real shitkicking boots that somehow remain slightly feminine. Expensive but worth it

I love slip on utility boots. Can't even find the ones I wear anymore, and I routinely get inquires and compliments about how weird they are.

And I've interned at a shoe repair shop, so now I want to brush or polish almost any pair of shoes I come across. :/

Please tell me you aren't one of those people who owns eighty thousand articles of clothing with shamrocks on them.

My daily shoes are navy blue Keds, which I got after I went through two pairs of knock off Keds in six months each.
