They can buy vintage reproduction shoes that DON'T look ridiculous and don't cost hundreds of dollars, tho ... There's a plethora of stores and brands who release that stuff.
Pet peeve: A lot of women don't really "get" what vintage style is. They think it's just a top with a circle skirt and call it a day. And a lot of the skirts they buy (that a lot of vintage reproduction stores sell, btw) have such loud and cartoonish patterns that they end up looking like Yurple the Clown from the WWF Attitude Era:
