I was waiting for months in this thread all excited for BoneyPlays this year. No Ayuwoki, no Yellowbaby, no Witch Hunt, Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion, none of those kinds of games that are kinda creepy but more just fun and riffing. Even that Huntsman game with the giant spider might have been fun to watch.
Honestly I got my horror game fix from watching the TTone re uploads. He's kinda zoomer pilled but he plays the kind of games that Oney should have been doing.
Are the Parasocial videos any good at least?

Ehh they're ok I guess. Game's kinda interesting but nothing to write home about.
Honestly it's gotten kinda annoying how valuable Zach had become to Oneyplay as a whole and how difficult it apparently is to get him to record with them. There's only like, a dozen or so episodes with Zach in them per year now if we're lucky and honestly he's the MVP of the group and viewership numbers prove that. I get that he's busy with his show but how hard is it to sit down for a few hour recording sessions once a month or so?
 
Parasocial was fine, I feel like that game does best if you play it alone rather than watching your parasocial friends play it instead. Night Security was better as a stream game. The Classrooms was fine until they spent like 2.5 episodes at the pool, although the snake monster being sound activated also proved why Cory is worst boy.

Zach and Michael became the new Adult Swim darlings so now they have to make public appearances at ComicCon and rub shoulders with Matt Groening at pedo french castles.

Tomar's family has relocated to a new state. His daughter is now a toddler so he can't afford to miss those moments to play some vidja with friends irl. Streaming is much more manageable. Plus he has those iconic smokestacks to care of.

Cory and Dave are the only ones in the same boat as Chris now: Self-employed game devs stuck in development hell but with good enough financial security to not have to worry about it. They've been the new trio for a while and they'll stay that way for another while, with the more frequent guests being Adam when he's not blacking out from edibles, Niall when he's not depressed from Ozempic and Lyle when he's not doing gay Lyle things.

I give this BoneyPlays a solid 6 out of 10.

Game choices weren't the best or most interesting, but we did get to see every co-host in at least one video. And, outside of the obligatory Best Of and Complete Series for last year, there was no garbage compilation slop.

Shame about the final video being claimed. But hopefully it's a real good one to end off on.

MVP this year was Tomar. Always good to see that psychotic bastard and the Cabin game he recommended was a really neat concept. I really enjoy the series where one of them has played the game before and they want to show it off for the rest. With Tomar and his streams, I hope we get more of that whenever he visits.

As much as I hate to admit it, this year in particular felt very phoned in, the classrooms was fun but you can argue that it is a reheat from last year and of course they got stuck same as F&H, SH2R was ok but it was mostly Dave wasting resources fighting every single enemy, the one offs were also ok but tbh the fact they were obvious asset flips made them hard to watch because of how ugly they were.
The one I just can't defend if the fucking stay of decay 2, I know that >watching Oneyplays for the gameplay but what a dogshit pick for a "halloween" game, it was like they just had that video laying around and just decided to release it because it happened to have Zach on it.

Wow, I actually feel kind of retarded that I didn't realize this until you pointed it out. Yeah, they probably just slapped the Boney Plays label on it because Boney + Zach = max viewers. Also if there were no vids with Zach the fans would riot.

Fear and Hunger feels like a weird pick for the channel. The game's the kind of type you want to play and immerse yourself to progress and not loose track, which doesn't really blend with keeping the banter alive. Witchhunt is really the golden standard as the game is uncanny enough to be spooky and give opportunities to riff on, while also being hands off enough that Oney, Zacha and Tomar could detach from it at and not lose out on getting scared.

I want to throw an autistic fit and complain about a sleepycabin episode where Niall was trying to sound humble saying all he wanted was a pokeball that could grow and shrink. He probably wasn't thinking about a balloon, hoberman sphere or a water growing toy, so he was basically asking for something that didn't exist back then or now. Closest thing is that toy that can be both a disc and a ball.

Those are basically pokeballs already, and I don't think it would take much to make the transition. Make it pokeball sized when it's "open" at its max, give it some sort of push/squeeze to lock and unlock so its springs "open" from closed like the pokeballs, and some sort of membrane filling the holes that can stretch and shrink. Boom.
