Ok wait what's the drama with DD&J and how is Kirbopher related to it? I thought DD was just being a gay drama queen about something unrelated to Oneyplays and is just leaving the Internet as a whole.
Chris was planning on making a big finale episode to Yiik with DD and Julian, where they'd recreate the graphics of the game. It was either heavily implied or confirmed that Kirbopher (Alex's voice-actor in the game) was involved in this project and would be voicing lines they made up for Alex. Kirb showed up briefly on the channel shortly after Chris's visit to DD and Julian, so he clearly had been hanging out with Chris in Burbank.

That project has now been confirmed to have fallen through. This is almost definitely due to a combination of DD being a big baby who quits the Internet once a week, him and Julian just generally having a bad record with producing content (cough cough Tough Bippy), and DD and J being very bitter over the fact that 99% of their fanbase is people who liked them in OneyPlays. It doesn't help that Chris also has his own stuff going on and it got hyped up wayyy too much.

edit: shit I got beaten by @Skelebro. Sorry that's what I get for not refreshing my page lol

According to Chris, it wasn't that big a deal, they overhyped it, it was too much work and everyone got too busy to finish it, so it's over, sorry.
So, what, he never saw the actual ending of the game? I don't really buy it.

Sure, I get it - them goofing around with the game files to create a sequence was probably a matter of trying to navigate through spaghetti jungles, but I don't really think anyone wanted that. I think most people just wanted to see the thing actually end, and beyond that see fire and brimstone rain down on the game's atrocious shove-it-up-they-ass ending. Surely they played it through to the end organically, and the footage has been lying around somewhere.

I think a lot of people will imply some kind of drama, but I get the impression instead that they had some grand idea for a goofball skit to tie it all up in a neat bow, and that skit falling through made them too ashamed to release the 'normal' finale.

Or, honestly most likely, the footage for the finale got corrupted and that authentic moment of disgust at the ending will never happen again, and then they got bored with trying to make their own cutscenes as a replacement.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=yfwpFlM4lFIChris, Lyle and Cory play...I have never heard of this game.
Little Big Adventure 1 and 2 were made by Frederick Raynal, the director and programmer behind Alone in the Dark (1992), after he left Infogrames. the games also have the same composer as AitD

Raynal was able to acquire the rights somewhat recently and founded Studio 2.21 to try and make a new game. there was even a demo released of a "remake" that had one area of the original game remade in a modern engine with modern controls. they failed to find a publisher so i think those plans are on hold or moving very slowly right now

No, it was recorded and they did see it, that isn't what was said in the clip at all. The YIIK finale just got pushed back and real-life caught up with them so they could never get it finished. Chris said the ending was mostly just them sitting there watching the cutscene with little to no talking.

Ever done any video editing? Sometimes their editor has a bit of fun, but even most of the tricks they do are pretty barebones. If the footage is there, you could get it prettied up and rolled out in less than a day's work unless something got horrendously corrupted.

When I say "what, he never saw it?" I'm saying, "that's like the only way it makes sense to not just upload it."

Sure, it doesn't have the bells and whistles he had it planned out in his head... but other than him, who cares? He delayed it to make a goofy, fun project that fell through - and now the moment is gone, so how embarrassing it would be to just release a not-that-interesting finale!
...Who cares? It's a fucking Let's Play, not an opera. People have been railing on because they wanted closure, not because they wanted a hiiii-larious edit that he'd look back on in a year and call "embarrassing" anyways.

It's not like they haven't uploaded boring stuff before.
Remember that FINAL episode of Pokémon Red where they did nothing for the first half of the video and then for the second half they had the brilliant idea of muffling the sound so you couldn't understand anything they were saying?

You're right, it is very insignificant all things considered. But fans can recognize that and still be a bit disappointed when a supposed project got killed part way through.

I myself like seeing people finish projects and do what they're passionate about, so the prospect of the trio going a little above and beyond the standard letsplay conclusion was an enticing and fun idea. Especially when the current crew very frequently doesn't see games until the end and YIIK is easily in the top 5 of that channel. Some users also might cite how that trio in fact has the perfect balance of having fun with each other and appreciating the game too and honestly it's great that they shed light on a game that was dead on arrival.

Am I actually going to lose sleep over it? Nah. Would fans be glad to see an ordinary ending or Chris dump all the details of what was finished before it got canned? I know I'd enjoy that at least. But sometimes life happens like Chris said.

Maybe the real OneyPlays YIIK Finale was the friends we made along the way.

I said it before, but all that was left of the actual game was another scripted death, a speech by the protagonist of the game the YIIK people made before that was bad and doesn’t exist online anymore because stealing music, then they flip a switch and the main boss dies, Alex YIIK mergers with “you”(your universe’s Alex), end.

But the appeal of the finale wasn’t the end of the game itself, it was what Chris was clearly planning to do with it. Shame it fell through.

i find lyle harder and harder to endure.
i don't even know why exactly, he just seems like he's trying too hard in some way, and it makes the playthroughs stressful for me to listen to instead of fun & relaxing. i understand this is an extremely autistic observation but it's literally a kf thread on oneyplays.

basically it feels like lyle is "performing" a let's play rather than just vibing and riffing in a naturalistic way. he seems too on-edge and effortful, and the effect is abrasive. his awkwardness reminds me of a younger kid who starts cussing a lot to try and fit in with an older friend group.

it's not that he's dumb or untalented, there's just something kind of forced or inauenthic, some element of him seeming uncomfortable and concerned about doing a good job or whatever that fucks up the whole vibe. tbh he comes off to me like a guy whose internal issues will lead to him transitioning to find his more "true self."

yeah you aren't wrong. him and matt watson have this energy of "someone trying to do oneyplays humor" and he falls back on that sarcastic ironic abrupt voice he does a lot, which is a mark of someone unwilling to commit to a joke so they give it a stupid voice to imply that they don't think what they're saying is that funny either. i still enjoy lyle when he's on, though.

We need one of these memes about the YIIK Finale.
If only 3LAME was still around.
Adam called Willburgur an idiot savant. Fucking lmao.
In the previous stream I saw him constantly post (understandably IMO) in the chat asking for Chris to check his email. Did they try out his mod in this second stream?

Lyle feels to me like one of those people that are becoming a bit too old to "act cool".

They said they were trying to reverse engineer the game's cutscenes and even had Kirbopher there for a couple of videos a bit after their YIIK playthrough so we know it's not a "not a big deal" and they indeed had something big planned...
This is truly a rest in pepperoni situation.
Honestly it's their own fault for trying to make it an event and not just releasing a normal episode.

Yeah they did try out his mod but their reading comprehension is so terrible they could barely follow the instructions

Their subreddit has provided me with some evidence to my conspiracy theory. It seems Yiik and even Ding Dong are filtered words with users needing to play around the word filter.
