i find lyle harder and harder to endure.
i don't even know why exactly, he just seems like he's trying too hard in some way, and it makes the playthroughs stressful for me to listen to instead of fun & relaxing. i understand this is an extremely autistic observation but it's literally a kf thread on oneyplays.

basically it feels like lyle is "performing" a let's play rather than just vibing and riffing in a naturalistic way. he seems too on-edge and effortful, and the effect is abrasive. his awkwardness reminds me of a younger kid who starts cussing a lot to try and fit in with an older friend group.
I wouldn't go as far as to say Lyle episodes are something you have to endure he has his moments and can be really funny but I for sure agree with you on him being awkward and a bit of a tryhard. Like he almost knows he can't really compete with Zach and Chris in terms of comedy so he tries really hard to. I don't really think his cameo in Smiling friends was that funny either which might be controversial.

You're right, it is very insignificant all things considered. But fans can recognize that and still be a bit disappointed when a supposed project got killed part way through.
That's not what I mean - I'm bummed by the cancellation, but same as you, it's sortof like missing the breakfast window at a restaurant when you were really craving pancakes.

When I say "who the fuck cares," I mean the executive decision not to release the "boring" conclusion. As if releasing something that didn't live up to those Great Expectations would terribly disappoint and shame the playthrough and the OneyPlays brand altogether -- no, no, I don't really think people would give that much of a shit if it came out and wasn't anything that spectacular. Assuming that it's just "we don't want to let you down........" getting in the way, and not the footage being corrupted.
But the appeal of the finale wasn’t the end of the game itself, it was what Chris was clearly planning to do with it. Shame it fell through.
Maybe for some people, but for me - the appeal was not the literal end of the game, or even just the game itself. If that were the case, I could just watch any other playthrough and feel satisfied. For me, I wanted to see them experience that ending, and then summarize their thoughts on the entire game at the end of it, just shake out five or ten minutes or more of really going over things, collectively coming down from the fever-dream. It's clear that they not only had a soft spot for the game, but especially had a soft spot for talking about the design's "so-close-to-kindof-okay" choices.

That Night in the Woods stream DD&J did eons ago by now remains such a treat because it's a complete package. A full and fair shake to the entire game, and even for all the scathing critique there's a real effort to appreciate what is there, and to imagine what could-have-been with a more competent script. That same charm is exactly what made the YIIKthrough so enjoyable, with Chris's role primarily to be a surrogate for an unfamiliar audience. The NitW stream didn't have a showboaty, sketch-style ending and yet was perfectly enjoyable -- same as lots of other longer games they churned through. Just feels unnecessary.

Lyle in his groove is great, but I think the "this is a job which now needs to perform better in the era of actual interest rates" thing, which I think might explain why so much feels phoned-in, has led him back into his comfort-zone of pregame discharge.

That screamy-shouty work-hard-to-force-joke approach also probably works better with their audience's age-cohort, not unlike Cory screaming at the top of his lungs when the "alpha/zoomer-bait game of the month" red bendy straw character he wants to fuck comes on-scream.

Kettle. Pot. Black.

To be fair though, Willburgur is more like a force of ADHD chaos, spreading janky joy wherever he roams. While Adam is the force of immense retardation, subjecting those around him to increasing levels of brain rot.
Imstoppable Autism meets Unmovable Retard

A lot of people have mentioned how Ding Dong reverts to his depressive gripey self in his streams too often, but another thing that bugs me is how he constantly resets levels over and over in certain games, like SRB2 Kart where he keeps on replaying a whole grand prix for an optimal score. He's not speedrunning or anything, it just makes the gameplay he's doing super repetitive. I like checking into his streams from time to time because they still can be fun to watch, but I can't stay tuned in too long even as second monitor content

Yeah sometimes that's just what he sets out to do. A small bugger when it happens since he's really strong going through the whole game and is able to talk a lot about it. Streams can be one or the other: DingDong beats the whole game (sometimes multiple) in 3 hours with a fairy solid score or it's 3+ hours of the same stage.

Would love more Animal Crossing. That game flips a switch in him where he's somehow hilarious with the most mundane game.

For a purpose he will not disclose, DingDong is working on spoof animation using Ctrl+Alt+Del style.

It's good to know that their 6k in monthly patreon cash is being used for projects like this and that FnF bootleg instead of you know, trying to finish at least ONE of their currently in progress videogames they've been shilling for years or to fix the multiple health problems they are constantly moaning about...

It's impressive how they are doing everything possible that will lead them to lose the love and respect the fandom has given them.

7 years and 5k a month to produce nothing, not even a trailer or demo for whatever most worked on game, that I suspect is Bippy, they have to the public to both show proof of work as well as garner more support, meanwhile, pizza tower, a very similar game not only rocked out to critical acclaim with 1 guy ( who did have support) alone at the helm, but with only 5 years of dev.

Their subreddit has provided me with some evidence to my conspiracy theory. It seems Yiik and even Ding Dong are filtered words with users needing to play around the word filter.
A bonus interesting fact about the Oneyplays subreddit is that the only Moderators on it are the cast themselves.

Including DingDong still, which is interesting to me.

This is conspiracy grumps type autism. Lyle is just simply better at pre written jokes than he is off the cuff.
You mean the subreddit that claimed Jon punched Suzy or some shit like that? I don't see how that compares at all to what I said. I like Lyle, I think he's a talented funny man. I agree he's not nearly as good as riffing as Zach and Chris though.

Someone mentioned that Lyle is a bit too old to act cool, Chris is too old to be doing this at all anymore. It's time to hang up the gloves and accept YouTubers have as much shelf life as athletes if not worse.

I like Lyle

As you see, I have portrayed you as a soyjack so you are automatically incorrect. Lyle is actually fine in OneyPlays though, but through stuff where he is the more direct creative voice like Pregame Discharge you can tell he'd be insufferable in person.
