A few years back Chris said that they needed to shift their assets from rendered sprites into actual real-time 3D and I bet that is adding a lot of time to it.
 
I'm willing to give Chris some leeway since he isn't asking for his fans' money to fund the entire project like DD&J or the FNF Dev team, which raised over $2 million in a Kickstarter fundraiser. Jeff would be the same if he weren't always being a whiney bitch on Twitter and doing literally anything else besides making his game which seems to be the only venture he has going on.

At least Chris can say he made music videos for an actual celebrity along with helping out on Smiling Friends. Corey is Corey.
 
I don't know if you guys have this feeling or not but I've been following Zach's animation work for so long now that when I see Smiling Friends memes in the wild posted by obvious non fans of Oneyplays part of me is like NIGGA WE MADE IT. It makes me smile :)
