Open letter
More than 200 jurists demand initiation of AfD ban procedure - all requirements for this are fulfilled
More than 200 jurists have submitted an open letter with the demand to initiate an AfD ban procedure to members of federal parliament and the federal government. According to their assessment, all requirements for that are fulfilled.
Ultimately, the Federal Constitutional Court would need to decide on a prohibition of the AfD.
A prohibition of a political party can be petitioned for by the federal parliament, Federal Council, or federal government at the Federal Constitutional Court. In the middle of November, a group of more than 100 members of federal parliament from several parties have presented a petition. Whether it's likely to reach a majority is open. Federal chancellor Scholz has recently spoken against an AfD ban procedure at the current time. He and other critics warn that a procedure would be very time-consuming and the outcome would be open-ended. In addition, there are worries about prohibiting a party with high voter approval.

The best point in time was yesterday, the second best point in time is now. The danger that they're scared stiff until it's too late is, in my opinion, much bigger than the danger of it failing legally.

The best point in time is one day after the general election, at the earliest.
If you submit a party prohibition petition to the Federal Constitutional Court one month ahead of the general election, you get smacked down by the court because of possible election interference, completely independent of the chances of success.
It's also going to be hard to argue for why a multi-year ban procedure couldn't wait for just a few more weeks.

"In addition, there are worries about prohibiting a party with high voter approval."
This is complete insanity. In 2017, the NPD was not prohibited by the Constitutional Court with the argument that, allegedly, there are no signs of a successful carrying out of unconstitutional goals.
Now we've got a party that is at least partially confirmed right-wing extremist which has already become the strongest party in one state. And a ban procedure is now not possible because the party is too popular?
Seriously, one is starting to get doubts on how defensive our democracy is.

And I don't get why it's not happening!

Let's better wait until they've governed for a few years and circumvented the state apparatus in a way that you can no longer prohibit them.
Well, obviously, you can't allow people to vote against democracy (Democracy means millions of Muslims coming to your country and raping with impunity).
What possible way is there out of such a system besides a coup and revolution?
Germany simply needs to be liberated from its occupying leftchud coalition.
