Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
No one with a serious interest in making a game engine is going to fork Godot. They're going to make their own game engine, from scratch. Blue skies get dicks hard, Going sloppy seconds on some engine covered in someone else's code smell is digital cuckoldry. It's as shrimple as that.
Does anyone even like GDscript? Looks like Python's inbred special needs cousin.

I used it a lot in 2018, and it was great for rapid prototyping and testing algorithms with a canvas ready to just do graphics on in just a few clicks, but extremely poor performance, and making any sort of simulation game of any substance was out of the question without doing core logic loops in C++, and at that point, just use a better suited engine or write your own.

Honestly if I was being held at gunpoint and forced to fork godot that's in the top of the list to drop, making cpp the focus and something like lua as the scripting language along with reigning in the scope would help so much to give the engine a fresh start instead of being the"oh we'll totally do the thousands of pull requests" fork.

Whenever I've used Godot I've always used the C# binding (which is pretty shit) so I can't speak to the quality of GDscript, but the decision to not only make your own engine, but also make you own programming language and your own IDE seems to me like a major case of misprioritization. I understand it's probably a fun project if you like to tinker with that kind of thing, but if the goal is to make an easy to use game engine I think it's frankly a retarded quest to embark on, just like it's retarded they've decided to build their own shitty physics engine. It makes the community extremely reliant on a few core people to maintain it though which I think is what they really want (because they are those core people).

Also, I never bought the "GDscript must be the default because it is newbie-friendly" argument. With that mentality, the best the engine can ever be is a toy engine for new developers to learn, but why then spend so much time making a half-cooked 3D renderer with a realtime global illumination system instead of investing in a simple lightmap solution? Why stroke your ego to the thought of Godot one day being used by big projects? It feels more to me like what Godot is trying to do is to trick novice devs into investing in their ecosystem.

I thought it was pretty cool but maybe it was just the good tooling surrounding it.
I leaned to love Lua but I still think that GDScript is better designed for games than even regular Python or Ruby.

I've seen pieces of the internals and they look competently made. The gui tree was a bit weird but then again they always are.
Also millions of Eastern Europeans modify Doom, Quake and Half-Life to this day.

Yes you are. A faggot is exploiting you and others like you because of how predictable you are. Now that you know you've been duped, you try cowardly backing down to save face, denying reality.

If I want a bunch of autists to solve my tech problems for free, I just go on 4chan /g/ and start a thread saying "it's IMPOSSIBLE to do X in program Y, Yfags on suicide watch" and dozens of people like you jump on the opportunity to prove me wrong.
What crawled up your crack?

It’s an mood killer and people have the right to point out what’s killing the mood.

But seriously, at this point, I think the best way to fork is just to do it yourself, very casually.
Or you could also just do without them.
Trannies are atracted to shiny things. They want things that can shine back on them and validate them. And they are attracted to whatever is the user-facing shit project of the day.
But they have no loyalty or passion so once they destroy the project they just move to another one. Like locust killing a field and moving on to the next.

PL: some of my sw have lots of direct and indirect users but I am only active in very very technical back-end of any project. Nothing fancy or glamorous that can "pay for my tranny srs".
Just basic infrastructure that people depend on. And I do it for fun, because It entertains me.
You see that meme of a jenga tower built ontop of a tiny piece "maintained by bob in minnesota" That is literally me and a handful of my projects.
Fortunately trannies are not super intelligent and not interested in working on "the shit that keeps shit working" so I rarely have to deal with them. When I get issues or pull requests that look suspicious I just close them and say "bug bankruptcy declared".
But it is rare. Trannies seldom want to work on actual important or system level things. Shit I work on will never get twitter likes so trannies stay away.

Just now from the Redot Discord.

Videos from Bioblaze Payne

Redot Leaving Call and Picture worth a 1000 words, so this video must be worth a million

Pity autistic shit flinging interwebz fights
Can't have a normal development server. Nah. We need some gay ass drama
Children playing pretend, avoiding the reality that you don't need anyone's permission to do anything and this fork is a giant online LARP. Despite all this squabbling I still have no idea what they're attempting to do to the engine, if anything. If Bioblaze wants to add a feature, why doesn't he just do it? Cart before the horse.

The reality of working alone, quietly, silently, on a game engine is far less romantic in practice than the idea of big a giant poser shouting about open source in chatrooms.

Edit: here's your new engine dev bro, lmao.

I have a feeling Godot and it's orbiters are tainted with retardation. No amount of forks is going to fix anything. This mess should just be nuked from orbit.

I was going to use it for my 2d 4x side project and after making some significant progress realized there was no way to spawn separate windows (multi monitor is kindof necessary). After talking to variety of people they all assured me there was no intention of ever adding support for this ever as it was not the direction and also not practical for the engine. So I went to all the trouble of re-doing everything I had done from the ground up in Qt with opengl rendering and so-on instead (not that bad for just drawing lines and shapes and stuff) and then they released support for multiple separate windows five months later. I now have a vendetta for life against their project

Anyone with a v4v/anonymous profile picture immediately lets me know they are retarded and won't accomplish anything.

Are there any major open source projects which lack a Code of Conduct?
Pleroma doesn't. The Soapbox front end for it has a COFE_OF_CONDUCT.md, which is just ASCII art coffee:

Well that didn't last long maybe the next fork will finally change the readme before it implodes
