Four minutes late and counting. Maybe he fucked off? :optimistic:
I think the debconf team are just not going to cut the cameras to the amphi and the stream will end in 20 minutes.

[17:03] == diddler [~oftc-webi@2603:7080:d600:4ff8:817d:cedc:3fdf:65c2] has joined #debconf

[17:04] == mode/#debconf [+b *!*oftc-webi@2603:7080:d600:4ff8:817d:cedc:3fdf:*] by Sledge
[17:04] == diddler was kicked from #debconf by Sledge [diddler]

Video stream expected... but not guaranteed, you antis!

Imagine having a long ass talk about ejabberd in 2025. DebConf is clearly fucking stupid and dead as shit. Hey guys, come to my talk where I clumsily explained to you how to install a LAMP stack. There's clearly nothing to talk about. Distro work is low tier janny work to be quite frank. Creating packages is not interesting.

Like most professional conferences, they're just an excuse to meet up and have a party. There's little legitimate value to these things. Humorously they've decided it's really important to invite the registered sex offender to the party.

It's crazy how the conference organizers are actively covering for Jeremy Bicha. They just banned the webui ident from even being allowed in the room. No one is even saying anything. It's just them actively trying to lock down the room as tight as possible to prevent anyone from mentioning the the truth of the situation.

DebConf, at this point is more liable than Canonical is. Fucking nuts, fr. This flies in the face of all previous historical instances of controversial speakers who are absolutely at the mercy of the hecklers veto. Meanwhile the entire corpo-tranny-FOSS world while rise up to protect a sadistic and violent serial child molester who without exaggeration sexually tortured multiple prepubescent girls thousands of times over half a decade.
The webui ident is what? An identity to do with a particular client? The IRC viewer from the stream page? Wait - did they just disconnect the entire room?

boomer moment: IRC idents are dumb usernames that are not actually your username, often times defaults to something based on your client. Like oftc-webui in this case. Bans are based off a combination of ident, hostname, and wildcards. Banning by ident is dumb, because idents are arbitrary and can be changed.

The practical effect is you can't get into the talk room via the webui unless you change your ident. Probably leaving the zoomers confused.

At least Canonical fired him. It does look like Debian is actively covering for him.

jannys just confirmed that are not streaming the talk in the debconf irc

[17:16] <fangfufu> Was there no stream coming from grand amphi?
[17:16] <@Sledge> no, issues
[17:16] <jmw> current grand talk is not streamed
[17:16] <@Sledge> we have the video, it'll be posted later

How much effort would it take to do a FOSS audit to find all the sex offenders? Google any one employed by these companies and see what criminal records appear.
There wouldn't be enough storage space in the world to stockpile all the evidence. Throw a stone in a crowd of corpo-foss devs and there is almost a 90% chance you will hit a nonce.

Cowardly expected behavior, but I don't know what they intended to accomplish. I guess it was to prevent the 1% chance of an outburst in the room being broadcast live into my still recording waste of disk space.

They just don't want you to waste your write cycles over such a minor thing. :)
