But please note first that a fucking billion dollar company doesn't seem fit to run a package repository (as they call it) with speeds exceeding 10Mbit/s. Let that simmer down in your mind for a second. LESS THAN 10Mbit. That's ~1MegaBYTES per second. Where most modern images start at around 100MegaBYTES.
Sounds more like dogshit (nonexistent) peering agreements between your ISP and Azure/AWS. Enjoy getting routed through a 1 gigabit pipe, along with every streaming app monkey.

ghcr is supposedly routed through fastly, tho doing a whois on the IP doesn't confirm that. And if anything the timeslots where shit gets bad correlates with the US going to work. AWS works very fine for me since my daily grind is with them

Ring it up, Theo dub
Worst person you know makes a great point, yada yada. Doesn't mean he's not a gigantic faggot in other respects.

Speaking of faggots (Theo), he has embarrassed himself again and deleted his posts after claiming web developers are somehow more skilled than game developers and that Notch made a game engine because "he didn't want to learn a game engine".

Ryan Fleury (developer of Rad Debugger, good at programming) replies and gets blocked by Theo who then claims it was for something completely unrelated

If a web developer understands what a formal grammar is, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Some web tech like XSLT is incredibly arcane and harder for a lot of folks to come to terms with than "more complicated" languages. But a lot of times it's copy-and-paste BS that an LLM does better.

I was just thinking today about how much of a faggot Theo is and how much of it stems from the fact that he is a webdev. Webdevs seriously think they are programmers, it's so laughable. There is definitely a certain skill to it, but they seriously don't know how a computer works, what a kernel is, what a memory allocator does, or any of the totally basic fundamenral concepts of programming. Then they proceed to shit up every programming space with the most insane engineering opinions you've ever heard. Much of hacker news can be explained like this - they are all webdevs so they just sound retarded to you as someone who knows what a L1 cache is.

I cannot imagine a modern-day game engine not kneecapping half of Minecraft's features by forcing the developer to use a bunch of rigid systems designed to streamline making the games that everyone else is already doing and require massive efforts to be coerced into doing anything interesting.

I've got to mention that, at least at one time, Minecraft used TCP. Looking around, it may still use it, actually.
I believe was rewritten in 1.7.2 to use the Netty library, instead of Java sockets, but it's still TCP. The network protocol is a Living Standard™ and changes slightly from update to update, which is fair. Also I believe newer packets (for example the ones that control the player icons in the exp. bar in the newest update) use JSON instead of Notch's NBT, for some reason.
Webdevs seriously think they are programmers
The word "programmer" is now a synonym for code-monkey. Don't ask questions, just rewrite everything in nulang and get excited for next nulang.

They use TCP in Java, UDP in Bedrock. Note that bedrock is the microsoft streamlined version where they can goad you into spending more money. You can also play it on phones

Java is the one everyone mods and plays on a computer, the one Notch made

>Notch
Autist dining out on a product he sold to one of the worst companies in the world using the most jeeted language in the world

faggot dining out on making a faggot language popular before we moved on to troon langs and being le contrarian

Thought it was the OpenBSD guy for a minute, turns out it some literally who y-combinator "founder" fag

I hope they all give each other AIDS.

And even now, everyone is pissed at bedrock for multiple game-breaking bugs that msjank are either unwilling or unable to fix. Number 1 is a random death glitch that has been in the game for more than 3 years.

Apparently, that's partly on Microsoft for not caring as long as the storefront is working, and partly on Mojang for not caring at all about Bedrock because Java is the real Minecraft. Microsoft seems to be afraid to fuck with Mojang too much and risk killing the golden goose.
