Oscars 2022

If a tennis star struck the other player on purpose, they are forfeited the tournament. In fact in just about everything assault against other players or reps is a forfeit of awards and usually membership.

I note Will Smith did not offer to forfeit his Oscar and is playing the "I'm so sorry I will do anything - except what would really amount to punishment or anything uncomfortable" routine as expected.

The incident happened prior to the award being given, so the Academy should forfeit his Oscar.

And more importantly, Chris Rock should update his film "Good hair" with a section on Jada. If you haven't seen "Good Hair", then you are merely pretending to be alive.

To be fair, they were spared from that atrocious In Memoriam which was treated as a super happy event

That's a good point. God, it was weird how cheery it was. It's like when they played that happy Stevie Wonder song during one of the Memoriams.

Like they were trying to replicate how a black choir would act in a funeral, but it doesn't work when it's mostly celebrities in their suits yucking it up

I just saw on the news that an Oscar producer came out and said the only reason Smith wasn’t arrested (the apparently had cops on standby or something) is that Rock didn’t want to press charges and that they were hopeful smith would have apologized to Rock during his award speech.

No idea if that’s true or not, I literally just heard it on the news as I passed by.

Will Smith has been banned from attending the Oscars or any related awards shows for a decade.
