Oscars 2025

It’s funny that they let Sean Baker win because he follows a bunch of gooner and anti woke accounts on Twitter.

He’s also the first person since Walt Disney to win four oscars in one night and the first person ever to win four for the same movie.

Pretty Woman was such a hokey piece of crap. Is there any “Hooker with a heart of gold” story that isn’t? For once I’d like a movie where the hooker is a disgusting scumfuck drug addict like most of them are IRL.

This is the movie you're looking for, then: Monster

I was hoping for emilia perez sweep so more people reach peak trans

Flag me Optimistic if you must, but I think we've already passed peak trans as a society, at least for now - check again in 15-20 years. But the "OMG NAZI TWEETS" gave goodthinking liberals who have already peaked a plausible reason to come down against Emilia. The question to ponder is whether you care about the reasons why people act the way they do, or do you not care, so long as they behave in the "correct" way?

>The Sex Worker movie is good because she says the f word
We are so fucking cooked
I mean yea, pretty low bar, but it's a bar I don't see anything else coming close to.

On a real note though, the story is pretty decent. No pandering, no sugarcoating, no troon or gay shit, the whore doesn't have some underlying narrative for why she's a whore, she just is a whore. She isn't some morally superior person, she doesn't end up getting what she wants, and she doesn't get a happy ending, so I mean yea, pretty good movie.

"Someone just happened to win an award instead of someone else that happens to be a tranny! Ha ha tranny took an L"
Is this seriously highlight material? :cringe:
Yeah I was just agendaposting to shit on a bad movie but like everyone knew that Gascon wouldn't have won that award. Like the moment their tweets praising Hitler came out before the voting process happened, it was already down the toilet.

Like Gascon wasn't even wildly celebrated except by some losers at film festivals.

I'm glad Anora won. Both it and Oppenheimer were not my favourite films of their respective years, but both of them sweeping at awards seasons to me represents a positive. For Oppenheimer, it's a little whitepilling that an auteur like Nolan gets to make a big budget 3 hour long historical biopic in IMAX 70mm and it's both a huge critical and commercial success. For Anora, it's rewarding seeing an emerging voice in the indie film scene get the praise they deserve. It was bizarre seeing people like the Safdie Brothers or Robert Eggers get snubbed in years passed, but it and the Substance getting accolades and attention is a somewhat reassuring sign that people are paying attention to the area of cinema where actually interesting things are going on.
Personally, I also agree with the featured post that I would've preferred Demi Moore as Best Actress (although Mikey Madison was great in Anora) and also Margaret Qualley as Best Supporting Actress (who didn't even get nominated), although it is kind of funny that the actual natal woman would win an acting award for the troon movie over the troon himself.
Big snub for me this year was Challengers for both Original Score and especially Editing, although it's also nice to see the writer/director auteur who also has sole editing duties win the editing award (again, in line with a lot of independent cinema).

KARLA LOST TO MS. ANORA HERSELF

IT'S JOEVER, EMILIA PEREZ'S 13 OSCAR NOMINATIONS? MORE LIKE ZOE SALDANA TAKES EVERYTHING SHE CAN FROM THAT SHIT SHOW

In all seriousness, Demi Moore would've also been great, but Mikey gave a good performance
Another Tranny L in the face of true women.

you have absolutely no idea how hard they were trying to astroturf this ugly, garish tranny movie to everyone. local cinema in my neighborhood had posters with the trannys face all over the building, i went to see a completely unrelated non-blockbuster non-hollywood movie and i had to sit through like 5 minutes of trailers and ads for that gross shit. basically all the trailers just try to paint this obvious tranny as some incredible femme fatale and they dont even tell you what the movie is about (i still have no fucking idea), they just try to make you think this tranny is amazing and this is the best movie ever because it has a tranny in it.
its legit sickening so i am glad HE lost. 41% really isnt anywhere close to enough

Alternate headline: 'ACTUAL WOMAN WINS BEST ACTRESS'

The Ma'am who got nominated for Best Actress got screwed, even if he was undeserving of the win. Let me explain:

1. The Oscars finally nominated a tranny, and we should applaud them for their bravery, lol.

2. Their virtue signaling ended with the nomination. They knew it would have been a step too far to actually let the tranny win.

3. They find out that the tranny is ironically based, and proceed to cancel him as their "out" from giving him the prize without blowback from the grooming alphabet mafia.

This whole fiasco has been hilarious, tbh.

Thank you for the lukewarm recap.
But was the tranny based? I read it as he/she/it bouncing between internet positions and then ultimately their gender.

It may have been said before but keep in mind a biopic abouts Regan was denied best picture nomination because it failed dei quotas since a good chunk of the cast is white....ya know? Like Ronnie Regans administration was?

In the words of mad magazine:

FUCK
UP^ THE ACADEMY
That movie was shit, might as well have been a podcast with how it was just 2 hours of Jon Voight dickriding Reagan with a shitty russian accent while Dennis Quaid does his best to work with playing Reagan.
