You say that like every single fucking thing about OW wasn't a direct rip off, or, at best, a generic cliche. This is what woke shit gives you, a barren game. About 7 years of development and absolutely nothing but it's cool you can be a super dykey Austrailian that is a straight rip from Apex Legends.
It really wasn't, lol. It was TF2 with DotA2 heroes and the only thing that gave it any hope was Blizzard's reputation at that time. You say that like every single fucking thing about OW wasn't a direct rip off, or, at best, a generic cliche.
Baptiste and Zenyetta has comparable DPS to the weaker damage heroes. They could hold their own, not against tanks however. The only role lacking in variety was healers; all they did was heal. You could compensate by giving them more AoE healing or support abilties.
Typically having 1 healer in any kind of PVP game puts a gigantic focus on the healer as a player and a target. It's likely one of the main reasons there's 2 healer slots, but also a lot of supports, tanks, and DPS have heal skills/self-heals.But OW was so perfect in the 2+2+2 team comp. You had 2 health tanks to sit on the objective, 2 DPS to run around and cause chaos, and 2 supports to heal.
This change is a complete misunderstanding of the OW meta and team comp. Like, if any role needed less presence, it would be healers, not tanks. You would have 1 main tank with a shield/dome, and another one like Roadhog or Dva to deal with the DPS. Then you had mobile DPS like genji who could flank the healers and chunky DPS who could only deal damage. The only role lacking in variety was healers; all they did was heal. You could compensate by giving them more AoE healing or support abilties.

I understand not every cinematic can be on the level of Honor and Glory, The Last Bastion or even Reunion but this was just bad. There is absolutely no soul, no heart in this whole cringy cinematic. It's amazing how a cinematic that is pretty lengthy can feel so empty and void of any commitment. If I needed any further reasons to steer clear of Overwatch 2, this cinematic and the high probability their PvE plans are off the table is more then enough.Junker Queen short.
Can I get a source for what's bolded? In the Xbox/Bethesda showcase, LoL (Wild Rift) all champs unlocked is only for PC (Mobile) Game Pass. I've been waiting forever for Wild Rift but there's still no release date for consoles.Oh, it absolutely is but she looks like a direct carbon copy like infringement level teetering. On top of that, they missed the ball with Soj, her ult could have been a dropship air strike or something. Just in brand as she is a pilot but instead it's just a weird skill shot which I have seen but the problem is she for 6 seconds turns into an Ashe playstyle from a soldier 76 playstyle with a dash. There's just nothing experimental at all with these new characters, I don't have any faith in the support one dropping.
Sigma and Wrecking ball at least had a really interesting kit, heck even Echo did to an extent. She just got released at a bad part of the game so no one plays her. It's why I really enjoyed Moira because as support she is so flexible. You can tell Jeff designed her because she just works well and her kit rewards playing with her and knowing her weakness. Same with Sigma and Wrecking ball.
I was going to point this out the other day but come autumn there are so many F2P on the market. LoL is coming to consoles which sounds interesting because it's been asked for years. They are making all characters playable though no buying and that is where Overwatch struggles. Other Mobas and shooters are really unique but also have characters that really capture something. I personally think on console OW is done. It's a real lost cause and their reputation is hammered at this point. Even Microsoft can't save them at this point though I think they might gut their crew by auditing them via skills and costs.
A really interesting time to observe at least.
Generic cliche: McRee, Hanzo, GenjiIt really wasn't, lol. It was TF2 with DotA2 heroes and the only thing that gave it any hope was Blizzard's reputation at that time.
It feels like Randy Pitchford played a hand into her inception. The Junker Queen video feels like a lost episode of Arcane.
It's almost like this cinematic was built around a concept of "We're pushing up OW2's release date to really fucking soon and we need a cinematic right fucking now." and not "let's make something cool".I understand not every cinematic can be on the level of Honor and Glory, The Last Bastion or even Reunion but this was just bad. Winston was funny to me, since super monday night combat (a shooter with moba elements) had an intelligent gorilla (cheston) whose role was tank and one of his abilities was going on a rampage. The main difference is that Cheston is an actor and had a mafioso theme going on (said to be his most popular character)Generic cliche: McRee, Hanzo, Genji
Concept rip off: Winston (Beast of Xmen) Doomfist (Vi of LoL)
Gameplay Rip off: Mei (Direct lift from Ymir of Smite) Inexplicable Dwarf I refuse to look up how to spell his name (Engineer of TF2)
That's all just off the top of my head. I'm sure I could find more.
Honestly, the game was hot garbage from the beginning, being propelled forward by two things: Blizzards name, and shitty porn. And once Blizzard realized they could sell half a game, and morons would pay billions in lootboxes, it doomed us all.
add some BB designs to that, but since they came out around the same time it's hard to say who stole from who. pharaoh (get it?) vs benedict, tracer vs mellka, soldier 76 vs oscar mike (granted that's just the "generic" soldier type, but still feels way to similar) - but later on you still got doomfist vs el dragon and wrecking ball vs "reddit penguin of doom" toby.Winston was funny to me, since super monday night combat (a shooter with moba elements) had an intelligent gorilla (cheston) whose role was tank and one of his abilities was going on a rampage. I know the idea of inteligent apes is not new, but knowing blizzard's track record and how they blatantly "borrow" from other franchises, I wouldn't be surprise if one of the devs played super monday night combat and went "cool, I want a monkey in overwatch"
and people were shitting on battborn's designs, we've gone full circle....
That's why most competitive MOBAs don't succeed; they try to force players to play the meta, instead of adapting the meta around the players...
