Overwatch

Apparently it was unanimously agreed across competitive videogames players that it's bad to take away control from others in multiplayer games, hence nerfing Mei and McCree's flashbang effect. So now Mei has a flamethrower. Enjoy.
I think it's less of a problem for competitive players and more of a problem for low-level players. I have a few coworkers who play in very low tiers; if you play Mei against them they never get to do anything since they can't move and shoot at the same time.

Flashbacks when Riot Games adopted an anti "anti-fun" policy for their balance of LoL; a lot of mechanics were removed because "gosh darn it it's just not fun to play against certain heroes and abilities".
Riot did have a point - in low tier games, old Wit's End mana burn was actually very good because people let you get in a ton of free hits and you could render heroes with low max mana (especially tanks) unable to do anything. It's really a player skill issue, but if the item's not good at high tier and it's not fun at low tier, then why is it there?

Also fuck you blizzard, let Mei freeze again, that was literally her unique selling point and you just gutted her.
All of a sudden, I’m remembering an old comp game - it was KotH, the China map, I went something like 50-4 with Mei on that fucking thing.

Helps when the entire enemy team is running in from one side and you can just Trump Wall and make it a 6 v 3. Her Ult covering almost the entire point, plus the fact she used to gain ult charge with her self heal made her a menace in exactly one game mode…

Welp, back to the memories. Like how they nerfed Mercy into a crater, but god forbid they ever touched D.Va…

The two are not exclusive since competitive matchmaking is the norm, especially not for Overwatch where overall victory matters more than personal ability.

my favorite thing about beta is going back to forgetting the game exists when the beta ends because OW1 is actually unplayable

Not even DOTA 2, which is considered to the most well-balanced game, and where the heroes are meant to be all OP, is safe from this, with the most recent rework to Techies. The newest Techies rework reminds me of LoL's Champion Reworks, where all or almost everything is changed about the champion, except for the name. At least Techies still has the original looks and voice acting, compared to how Riot even changes voice actors with Reworks.

Going back to Overwatch talk, did Blizzard state if the other PvP game modes, i.e. Free-for-all, will also be in OW2 or no?

Pretty much the pvp multiplayer is F2P for everyone, only PVE content(s) is/are buy to play. Which is why I'm questioning what is their "new" business model and content implement in OW2 pvp side.

Like typical battle pass each season (normal and premium), changes to lootbox and cosmetic costs, whether you need to grind some coins or challenges to unlock new hero/character. Because I feel it's quite optimistic thinking that it's ideal business wise for Blizzard to giving new hero/character away for free immediately with new every new update, after transitioning to F2P model.
Since there is barely any new information about the PVE content, I doubt PVE side will offset the cost for making new heroes or maps anytime soon. Unless somehow the competitive Overwatch League is still helping Bliizard making banks of money.

But I could be very wrong, somehow they have every heroes for free like DOTA2.

Wasn't the techies nerf because you couldn't push against agha techies and he was pretty much useless for anything else?

It'll be full of F2P shit - Lootboxes, Store Skins, Alt. Currency, and/or Battlepasses.

The techies rework (AFAIK) was because his gameplay loop was so alien compared to everyone else's it didn't "fit correctly". He'd just plant explosives all over the map like the unibomber and would be devastating in good hands and complete and utter dogshit in bad hands - more so than any other hero.

Also, the back-then Techies gameplay would make games unfun for the other 9 players in the game, which includes the 4 teammates.

If this is anything to write home about then it looks like Blizzard might try to make things wildly more expensive since they're not gonna have the lootboxes to buy anymore

Fucking buy a skin for half the price of a AAA game. At least the Chinese understand that lootboxes make it so you have less awareness how much money you're burning.

heard they will sell legendary skins for 59.99$. only the most brain dead fan or a kid stealing their parents credit card will ever buy that shit.
They were selling premium OWL skins for $10 in OW1. I don't know what a mythic skin is, but unless it makes Tracer's boobs bigger, I don't know why anyone would pay more than $20 for them, let alone $45 or $60.

Mythics are all those skins with the name in purple/magenta. Basically the weekly skins they shat out during 2020-2021 when they ran weekly rewards during the major events.
My bad, that's Epic. Mythic is an upcoming tier.

None of those are worth $20 lmao for reference the shitty OWL recolors cost as much but it's easily ignored in favor of the special OWL skins (Angel of Death Widowmaker, GOAT Briggite) skins which come out at the same price but look better. Oh also, the Pink Mercy charity skin cost $15 and has even more work put into it than most of their catalog.

Still a shameless theft.

Man, going back to the base game after the beta is just sad. 5v5 felt awful and I'm going to miss Moira's damage orb.
I've been playing OW since beta 2016. I am not sure if I am going to buy a game that should be a DLC. The changes to characters and game mechanics IHMO are fucking LAZY. There is really nothing in OW2. that gives me that "OH WOW!!!" feeling.

Again... FUCKING LAZY GAME MECHANICS but I know people will buy into this game.

Purple named skins are epics, mythics are going to be "legendary+" and will have customizable features.

Thanks for the correction, even then Blizzard half asses everyhing so I still wouldn't drop 20 on this.
