Overwatch

the game is fun and all if you play it casually but its still just overwatch by the end of the day. is it me, or do the players seem more retarded than they used to be? so many just run off on their own and end up getting killed or they forget to push the payload.
Probably a combination of players being rusty and free shitters.

I'll add on to the Pokemon "defences" by saying that since at least gen 6, the games have been trying to come up with interesting new mechanics that partially to completely change the way the game works fundamentally. Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, go-esque capture mechanics, Gigantamax, Terastalising, fucking everything with Legends Arceus, there's a new mechanic for basically every new game, and it changes how the game plays out fundamentally and dynamically. There's always a boxart feature, and even the remakes and sequel games usually have something, usually a new exploration method like Soaring, Mantine Surf and Ultra Space, and the Underground.

Overwatch 33 1/3's feature is PVE. and it isn't even in the game.

Everything in overwatch is so rigid, and it's only gotten more rigid over time. I was watching an old Dougdoug video where he was talking about tf2 vs. overwatch, and it seems like the downsides of overwatch have only gotten worse. There is one way to compose a team, one way to play every character, very few game modes... it's just so inflexible.

I think Blizz is intentionally giving us this shitty system to groom people into accepting loot boxes more.
That already happened when TF2, CSGO and DOTA2 had their lootboxes unquestionable by their fanbase. Then FGO and Genshit fanned the flames even further which is why some franchises have gone down the gacha train (XCOM for instance). Blizz is just picking the trend way too late already.

From the local Battleborn lover: OW2 is pretty much what OW1 should've been: F2P, buy shit instead of shit ass loot boxes, etc.

The only difference is now it's unpopular to like Blizzard, so the dipshit talking heads on youtube can't stop sperging of how every little thing is the worst thing ever, even though those little things have been the same since the game originally dropped in 2016.

I promise you, if the allegations never came out, and Bliz hadn't shat the bed in every single other aspect of their buisness, people would look at this exact same game and herald it as the next step in gaming.

I see it's doing very well on metacritic.

It's asking for a UK phone number to play because my battlenet was made whilst I was living there and I can't change my region without showing them a fucking utility bill lmao. Used my GF's number so it doesn't matter but it's still fucking retarded and means I lost all my skins etc.

As for the game it's okay I guess. Not sure why they removed a player per team. Reinhardt is still fun to play as, I usually do well tanking as him but I was racking up massive damage and kills as well, feels like his regular swing is better; faster, more powerful or maybe has better range now idk? Wouldn't spend money on it and still prefer the 1st one.

OW2's monetization is so bad I'm actually kind of missing the loot boxes. You had an (albeit small) chance to get legendary stuff without spending money and they mostly took that away. Even common shit like sprays and the other throwaway shit comes at a much slower rate now it seems like.

That and grinding for heroes is fucking dogshit. Anyone who has OW1 has all of them for now but I'm pretty sure Kiriko is gonna be the only freebie.

Blizzard is throwing crumbs at the players in hopes they'll put the pitchforks away. (I'm sharpening mine.)

Real talk. I thought they were taking the piss for second with that skin. Had to double take because I thought they added a paladins character to overwatch.

Am I crazy here for mistaking these two at a glance?

Haven’t played in a few years. Gave it a try.

So far it is alright. Still missing some of the stuff I had in Overwatch 1 (skins and useless stuff) but that shit doesn’t prevent me from playing the game, so I can be patient.

Not encountering any of the bugs that others have had. I’m lucky, I guess. This all just feels like a new major patch, not a sequel.

It's a trend to compensate players for horrible launches. Halo: MCC gave away one month of XBL Gold and Halo 3: ODST. GTA V gave players $500K in GTAO. Battlefield 4 discounted its DLC and added more. I'm not justifying these bad launches. That's just a way to get goodwill back.
That used to happen for World of Warcraft circa 2005, I had all kinds of free days and weeks peppered on my account when they were still patching in major features such as weather, and meeting stones.

and the state of Hearthstone.
What's your Hearthstone complaint? That it's eight different games?

I got literally dozens of legendary skins from Twitch/Amazon Prime subscription, there would be months where Blizz would give you a golden lootbox that had guaranteed legendaries in them. I suspect that'll slow down immensely.
