Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

It helps that its a good game but thats my only explanation for how a game thats been in development for years and has been known about for years suddenly surgers in popularity
I think that there's a lot going into the success, in terms of the marketing space.

For one, the launch window in January is great for not having any other competition. Sure, you miss out on the usual holiday sales window, but what other games are really coming out this month? Tekken and Like a Dragon? January's really the month that's normally associated with everybody already spending their Christmas money, but with no big game or entertainment property to take note of, it means that Palworld easily gets attention from consumers and then even news talking about its success.

People also just love OWSC games. Remember stuff like Valheim? Or how Project Zomboid, a game in development for ages, got immensely popular for a time once they added in multiplayer? It's a genre that, if you can break the mold and stand out from the rest of the overcrowded scene, gets a lot of sales and attention, especially bolstered by the fact that people will want to play it in groups. The player numbers will drop, of course, but that's always going to happen, with regression to the mean and the next FOTM coming out.

"Pokemon with guns" is also just the perfect elevator pitch for the game, a simple by-line that immediately lets someone know what the game's about... or at least what they might expect, given that the game isn't really that traditional JRPG-style. But it's a memetic idea, which is why there was such a big push by word-of-mouth and people generating buzz about the game, because it's so simple to grasp the idea of. Even if you never played Palworld's style of game, you probably know what Pokemon is, and seeing something like a penguin getting fired out of a rocket launcher is more approachable for the average person than something more complex like, I don't know, Diablo 4 or whatever.

Throw in the huge backlash and anti-hype of people swearing up and down that the game is cheating its success and the developers should be sued, or outright killed, and you end up with even more attention and sales.

Okay, I'm sort of over the game now. The mid-game resource management is and was always my quit moment in the genre. Looking forward to seeing how the game fleshes out and if they manage to get Steam Workshop working, but yeah.

Don’t forget that Palworld was on sale between its release and the 25th, everyone who bought the Early Access payed ~$27 USD compared to its ~$30 standard price.

For a couple pages back regarding if the Panda Pals fly or not, I don’t think they fly. I think it’s just that they’re essentially big ballon-like guys and just have a really low center of gravity.

Also both the grass and electric versions will pull out duo rocket launchers as their skill and just explode everything.

>ok that's enough Palwurld for today

>get raided by "obsessed fans"
>it's 2x the funny number always horny lizard thing
Managed to capture one, just barely. The first got fucking obliterated before I could even take aim with a ball. Named it appropriately, of course.

And then my second base got raided by a 10-pack of some level 17 hippies who waltzed in, got peppered and I think decided to skedaddle because their odds weren't looking too great. They proceeded to run towards the nearest cliff nad collectively lemming off it before I could kill them.
By the way, is it possible to completely turn off motion blur ingame or do I have to dive in the inis? I have it on OFF and it's still there.
I honestly love the stupid horny lizard (the one I have working is male too lmao)
They are good workers and have a heal, and I think they are just over the top goofy instead of outright horny (the weird pussy pasty is a little uncomfortable NGL tho)
I can't wait for the Internet to ruin it though :,)

I know the point is to capture tons and tons of pals and squish them down into a slury to feed your other pals to get stronger, but I do wish there was a release option as well (as funny as it is to have captured thugs, I kinda feel bad for them and they only have shitty level 1 handiwork so they get stuffed into the box) but it's funny they also get traits. First one I caught was a "positive thinker"
Sure hope so, buddy :story:

I also find it funny the type of people to witch and bitch about capitalism and racism and shit all the time are sucking the cocks of the company that owns the largest and most profitable franchise to ever exists, and shitting on a team of small regular Joe Japanese dudes.
Weird, that....

I honestly, genuinely, with my heart of hearts do not understand the frothing hate for this game. It is so beyond my comprehension to understand as to why.

I just unlocked a second base (been going slow and taking it all in) and I'm trying to find the perfect spot to settle down. I have one in multiplayer that's smack in the middle of the area with the orange trees that's lovely, but I'd like to explore more. I think I spent 2 hours looking last night. My current area is nice but with a river/waterfall running through it I barely have space for the necessities.

Slush, sell or slaughter are your only options. Lol

Technically I think you can put them into your party and hit R and drop them, but it just keeps them in the sphere on the ground. So I guess selling might be the more humane option, versus butchering.

Anyone have any idea what's up with Warsect's ability? It says it buffs your defense and gives you Fire(?) on your attacks, but it only does the former. Considering Warsect is Grass/Ground I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Ground, but it doesn't appear to do anything beyond the defense buff.

Still having fun with the game but holy shit placing down building stuff is a pain in the ass. All I want to do is build a big stone monstrosity but stairs don't cooperate with anything. Hope they fix that soon.

Hopefully they add more building materials, I want to make weird alien glowing towers like the NPCs have.

I think they said they are working on that to make it more forgiving and I think the roadmap did mention more building materials.

Stairs tend to be better places if you’re on top looking down, in my experience. You can also try putting up a roof piece for it to attach to and then break it afterwards.

First major update needs to fix or change up the base building and the pal management in it because its such a pain in the ass. Build an item on or next to a wall that a pal needs to interact with, they will either get stuck or teleport to the roof and starve. Try to get in a chest to grab something and I end up picking up a pal instead. A management table to set orders to automate would be great because running back to cook more toast for my mudshark miner outpost to help fight depression is driving me crazy.
An storage unit that connects to other bases would be great too because relocating my first base to another one was a chore.
I dont know how they would address building on a slope. I found a great spot with ore and coal I was going to fortify but it ended up not working out correctly because the majority of the spot of the stone deposits is on a step incline.
Near late/end game anyway. Had fun and will come back after some updates get dropped, hopefully my gripes get fixed in the game.

I haven’t had that item next to a wall thing you’re talking about. Aside from just making sure your stuff is spaced out, you also want to make sure there’s enough walking space in front of an item so Pals can pass without issue. That may be the problem you’re having there.
