Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

Man, been playing this gaming throughout the last 72 hours, and I just had to run back to the internet and tell someone. The funny part is I noticed on twitter that there is a stubborn contingent of poke-coomers and AAA devs that are trying to fear bait as if they haven't single handedly destroyed the integrity of the game industry (over the last 3 decades).

Yea, the snakes who brought you microstransactions and releasing unfinished games are SUPER CONCERNED about the integrity of game development (on a "pokemon game" that's more like zelda and ark.)

I will say, between this and baldurs gate 3, these fucks are going to have to learn, sooner or later, that gamers aren't going to reward devs who make shit, soulless games. Let's get something straight, these guys don't give two fucks about some derivative game that MIGHT be kinda like pokemon but also not.. Like BG3, AAA devs are entirely concerned with a non-AAA company (indie) coming in, making headlines and setting the FUN standard back to its original spot. Full stop. They simply can't have that!

I wouldn't even be suprised if pokemon convinced Xbox to pull it from the gamepass (due to muh concerns). At this point, I've spent most of my hard earned gamer budget, this last year alone, on indie games; I couldn't be happier with my choices. That is exactly what's causing this entire uproar. They can all eat a bag of dicks for all im concerned.

The only two games I've purchased in the past several years are PalWorld and BG3 and I've been very satisfied with my decision thus far. Before these, my last purchase was Pokemon Moon which I had mixed feelings about, with my main complaint being how damn easy it was and how often gameplay came to a screeching halt because of that piece of shit Lillie. If I ever go back to a "real" pokemon game, it'll be an emulated Drayano difficulty hack, because those are fun as fuck despite the grinding. For all the shit ORAS got, at least you could get secret bases from some absolute bros who stocked theirs with level 100 blisseys so you could level up a new mon faster.

That aside, the only other games I've played with any regularity in the past several years that weren't 8 or 16 bit console emulation are Stardew Valley and Terraria. I have no fucking interest in triple A slop. My rig can run PalWorld at maxed out everything graphically, but I have no desire to drop 60 bucks or more to some company that half-asses everything and wants me to unironically participate in the popcorn factory sketch from WKUK.

I think this is GOTY maybe the decade.

It's kind of weird playing a game that wants you to enjoy it. I haven't felt this way in a while about a game. No always online, completely modifiable difficulties with drop/XP multipliers. It doesn't feel like it wants to milk you for every penny you have and every second of your time. You decide if you want to farm or just

It's been forever since a company released server software for the community as well. You don't even need to farm if you run a dedicated server locally just set the CollectionDropRate to like 10000. Want labor to finish quicker?modify WorkSpeedRate.

That's what I love about seeing this game succeed the way it has. This game's success is a message to the industry, one that was a long time coming.

I also recently bought Pal world finally and goddamn, it scratches an inch I've completely forgotten about after the nonstop slew of AAA slop. Sure, some of the bugs makes me want to tear out my hair sometimes, but even that has its own charm. The people who whine about "muh Pokemon model rip-offs" obviously haven't played the game since everyone else is having too much fun to even care. The pal animations are much more well done and soulful than Pokemon as well. I never liked Temtem since it had that western cartoon look to its monsters, but I'm hard pressed to name a Pal I didn't like.

And all this for $30. Even if it's EA, it's less than the price of the Pokemon DLC, which barely had more than a few hours of content. Sad! Can't wait to see what they will do with the game. Hopefully the success has given them more money to implement even more content. Let's enjoy the ride while it still lasts (until Microsoft buys them out and they go the way of every one of their acquisitions).

Anybody knows a good way to farm blueprints? Green pistol is way better than stock pistol, and there's supposed to be blue and purple variations.

Man, iron automation is a pain. If the base is more specialized, transporting the ingots isn't great. In a base that is more general, pals seem to prefer the rock quarry or other tasks and need to be reset constantly when they get stuck on terrain. I hope the bugginess gets fixed over time. The rest of the game is pretty solid and addicting.

I have to say Palworld's combat system is entirely unique specifically in the late to mid game if you are playing on the same level with your opponents.

The second boss of the game has a plant/water type pal, and up to that point the most effective flying mount is a dark/fire type. So that fight becomes a straight up glass cannon fight for you. Any fire pal can do a shitload of damage, but two hits from that boss and your Pal is out. So you end up dodging while your Pal is blasting fire attacks with a cooldown, but that's still not enough to beat the boss in time. You have to take potshots while also dodging in-between your Pal's cooldowns. It's fun and engaging and tense because it never really feels like luck against a boss. It's like you've earned it, even if you did cheese it at the end. On the second boss, all my pals were gone and I had a makeshift pistol with 12 rounds left with shields down and no feedbag. It charged and I brought it down with two left in the mag after reloading mid charge.

That's not even counting the times where my guy is laying dead on the floor as the last second ball I threw at the Alpha or Lucky pings caught.

Yea, it's pretty tedious but im glad that they atleast tone down the repair costs once you build an item. I'd have been pissed if I needed a full 15-30 ingots to repair my armor every time. As for the pals, there's a few things that need to be fixed. Flying/larger pals tend to get stuck on top of the quarrys for me, and some will get stuck outside of a smaller base. I fixed the second part by slowly transitioning into a larger more spacious/flat base. Sticking with medium sized characters for mining tends to work as well. That bowser looking pal's mining animation is sick af, as well as his 3 specs towards it lol.

They did say fixing the games bugs will be priority number one, and I do believe them. This game is going to be their baby for the immediate future. I'd also like to see optimized graphics, as well as FSR 2.0/3.0 support (my laptop is OK rn, but I just know FSR would be more ideal.

Yeah we turned the egg timer down. Not off per se as that would be mad xp gain but just tweak.
That's the other thing, You can adjust, generally depending on how you feel, most of the game at any time. That's an insane level of control for a game that's yours.

I get what you're coming from and I get it. For me it tickles that autist itch of "not quite perfect." We have 3 bases now and they're all being modified to serve a specialization. One for breeding/eggs, another for stone farming/cooking, third base is coal/automation.
It's neat to see it come together and now what I want is to make those particular workers the best by providing the better beds and food and condensing them, necessitating more capturing and adventuring.

yeah, this one has got me real fucking good I tell ya. Still gotta make those villages a bit more pretty.

Oh also, pretty good tip I heard for optimization purposes! Try to put activities towards the outer ring of your base so that peals don't run over each other in the center or over your other things. Tidied up earlier and the pathing got much better.

I bought the game a few hours after watching Let's Game It Out's (chaotic) playthrough.

I must say, it's one of the few games I have found myself incredibly immersed in; the Long Dark is one example of another game in which I've been so immersed in the game that I haven't noticed the time pass by. I like this game more than TemTem (the previous game that had the honor of being dubbed a "more immersive/better Pokemon experience"). There's a few bugs to be worked out (Pals floating above the ground, enemy Pal AI sometimes getting confused and having the enemy Pal forget that I'm fighting it), but it's incredibly well-polished for an early access game.

The steam forums are still a goldmine.
