Reminds me of when I went for this achievement

I played Venice, cheesed a crusade in Egypt, made my way south along the coast to Ethiopia, conquered the southern Arabian peninsula, and fabricated claims in India from Arabia, and spent the next many hours trying to figure out why the achievement wasn't popping after conquering all of the trade posts

Kudos to you for even trying it. A lot of them are just completely insane.
I do look forward to the ones in EU5. If it's one thing Paradox does pretty well it's give you interesting reasons to replay the game through their achievements.

One achievement I really want to do that just takes a long fucking time is the Aladdin achievement

I had a half decent game going one time started in 867 as this Duke north of Tibet, converted to either Sunni or Shia, started going through Xinjiang and Central Asia, I was half way through Persia before my kingdom completely collapsed, I haven't tried to go for it since. This was back in 2021 I think. I might try that again here in a little bit.

That's an insane achievement. Part of me always feels discouraged by how hyper-specific a lot of these are. But at the tame time they're always so fun and creative that they at least make you curious about how you'd possibly be able to pull it off.

Just started as this Han duke like I said in 867, dude is old so I got some Muslim concubines, had another son, started raising him to be Sunni, my main character died, and now im playing my 10 year old son.

Possibly the earliest I've seen any pagan religion reform, 14 years since I started!

Still trying the Alladin achievement, shit is frustrating and I've restarted multiple times, I think this is my 5th try now. This run I converted to sunni, then shia through the assassins, and have been the grand master of them for 30 years or so now.

First time I've seen this shit unironically lmao, somehow I got a lover who is four years old, worse than Muhammad himself. (:_(

the sacrifices one makes in the pursuit of absolute power...and digital stickers

Aladdin Achievement
At this point I lost count at the amount of times I've restarted, one of my better games I formed Tibet and reformed Bon but the Chinese had made Tribute all the Kingdoms and Empires around me and made it near impossible to expand, as well as my threat being constantly high

This run I decided to just focus on expanding into Central Asia and down into Persia, forgoing expanding into Tibet which is a gigantic waste of time. Somehow I lived long enough, and conquered enough to do the decision to "Adopt Chinese Imperialism," Which probably wasn't worth doing but I probably wouldn't have another chance to do it.

>Shia Chinese Empire in Eastern Europe
we are reaching levels of cursed beyond impossible

Yeah, forming it gives a shit bloodline, and makes it so you can't create or usurp empires, though there are some interesting things about Chinese government type,
Tbh I dunno if I want to even continue this run, boring as fuck, this and like 4 other achievements for ck2 are literally, start on one end of the map and conquer to the other side (Exclusing owning the Trade Ports in India as a Merchant Republic which was pretty fun)

New paradox maps! Prosperity/Devastation, development, building roads, privacy/privateering, and next week will be conquest, integration and CBs
Week after week, Johan delivers. I thought that I'd be done with new paradox games after the Vic 3 disaster but he has brought me back.

>Devastation and prosperity are now a single value, going to -100/100
>Development is still a thing, but now "represents how cultivated the land is, and how much it is used by the pops living there. The higher the development, the more people can live there, and the more it can be exploited", "the player mostly only has indirect control over, but you can have your cabinet working on improving development in an entire province at once."
>Roads are crucial for increasing control and improving trade, reducing proximity control by a half and increasing army movement speed, new roads are unlocked over time and increase those effects even more
>You can built roads in countries with positive opinions, roads can and will be connected for trade

Really glad they're going with development as something separate from population. One of the most insufferable aspects of the EU4 debate around development was usual suspects whinging about how x or y should get a development boost because Emperor Long Dong managed to cram one gazillion people into a single city as opposed to the much more diffuse population of Europe.
