I've played way too much Vicky 2 but it was a pop painter board game at its core, I appreciate 3 putting more focus on diplomatic plays, mutual exchanges and concessions, even though it's easy to break the AI with it. And the economic system is far more interesting.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Brother the diplomacy in Vicky3 is less relevant than it is in HoI4!

I like trading states!
Paradox games fucking suck when it comes to peace treaties, Stellaris is the worst offender. Is it still coded to be impossible to trade systems with the AI?
This post is bought and paid for by Paradox's marketing department
Their most successful game by far is HOI4, I think their marketing departments loves moving toy soldiers actually.

damn EU5 probably wont be released this year, Niggers are probably gonna make us wait to 2026
After all that we've seen from it I have no problem with that. Johan and Co. are fucking cooking. He did say that the purpose of its early reveal was to garner feedback which was done successfully and has helped improve the game as seen from the feedback diaries that I've posted and all the map revisions they've made. EU4 and Vic 2 can hold me over for another year.

I legitimately hate the Paradox launcher so fucking much. For the longest time, even though I own most of my Paradox games, I usually played pirated copies and manually installed mods instead, so I used to think the launcher being shit and breaking half the time was a function of it being pirated. No turns out it's just fucking terrible even for the people who pay.

I'm so glad that Paradox never moved CK2 onto its new launcher.

The old EU4 launcher was also much better than the current one it has now, I remember how mods were unplayable for nearly a year because of how bad Paradox waffled rolling it a new launcher no one wanted.

It's stuck in my head please help

Get Warger'd, german child

I think the reason why Superevents really caught on is because they offer such a succinct and direct emotional hammer to the player in directly making clear what big event is going on. Made it memorable and quickly understandable.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't affected by at least one of these things.

Fall Rockwell is probably the best superevent in the entire mod.
Nah, its vyatka_super of course

I for one love super events, they give additional weight to shit happening in your playthrough. Compare it to Vic2 for example, where you can fight a Great War but the same chill classical music will continue playing.
They also introduced me to some great tunes:

Fall Rockwell is probably the best superevent in the entire mod. It goes unfathomably hard.
It helps when there's some effort put into it. The visual of flak explosions around the Statue of Liberty and the sounds of war competing with the crescendo of the song is auditory kino. A lot of the super events do that sort of gimmick but Fall Rockwell probably does it the best. Your imagination + a good song can do a lot of the carrying with the events that don't put as much effort in.

Vyatka is pretty good, but I think a lot of super events are carried by the song they use. On the TNO team (and other teams that use them) there might have been a differing philosophy on what music to use and what the purpose of the events are, with some taking the stance they're primarily informative whilst others see them as a narrative tool. When used narratively, I think they can be really hit or miss, especially if the person behind it is trying really hard to hit you over the head with what you should be feeling, which can be effective, but it's also probably the cause of more than a few complaints. If they feel 'epic' or act as a sort of celebration, they tend to be on the better side.

Power of the Source is also pretty good. It also has a bizarre history behind it: Scientology jazz band with only a single LP. Understandably, there's not a ton of info about them due to being entrenched in Scientology. Having listened to that LP during work once, I would only recommend the first track (Power of the Source) and the last track (My Dear Portugal). I actually thought it'd be a surprise banger since the 2nd track starts off strong but becomes a mess partway through (does end with a killer drum solo though) and that carries into the 3rd and 4th tracks.
