What do you niggas think of the idea (the hypothetical deeper HOI4 economy) of industry being split:
Heavy / Light / Electronic / Chemical / Shipbuilding
Idea: factories are fundamentally one of these, can't really be converted between them
Civilian consumer goods can be produced by any of them
A civilian's radio has more in common with a tank radio than either has in common with a tank or folding chair
But, you get diminishing returns for overproduction of a specific line of consumer goods (consumers mostly want huge amounts of Light Industry products)
Broadly speaking, in this era:
Heavy Industry = Industry for building more industry (construction/capital deepening), consumer automobiles, rolling stock, military vehicles of all types, artillery
Light Industry = Most consumer products, infantry kits and other logistical supplies,
Electronics = Mostly means radios, fire systems, stuff on airplanes, also a lot of infrastructure for the intelligence side of warfare
Chemistry = Synthetics, gas (not a feature but should be), munitions, agricultural efficiency w. fertilizer
Shipbuilding = Unique circumstances
Vast majority of most economies in HI/LI with the Germans and Americans having the only really impressive Electronics/Chemistry sectors.
I intend to read Arsenal of Democracy.
