Yeah, I don't know how to fix this dood. Tagging over to the Pope and changing their government to theocracy crashes the game, while killing the current (Calvinist) pope and putting them into an interregnum and changing to theocracy then doesn't, it does make them leader of the Catholic Church IO but they don't elect a new Pope I think. FML, my last save before this happened is literally 55 years ago :lossmanjack:
Oh well, on the bright side I can rush the Caribbean this time around.
Alright, I think I got it. Basically in my game, the Pope had been kicked out of Italy/Rome by Naples causing him to relocate to Luxembourg. Now, due to being in the heart of the Germany, I think the Papacy (Not the Pope himself) flipped over to Lutheranism because of an event, and this happened in 1530 in my second run. tl;dr Beware Pastor Jim.

Well, I've made it back to 1570. Obligatory map post.

I've got most of the Caribbean locked down bar Hispaniola, which is owned by the Ottomans. I plan on going war with them later when I've built up my navy which is rather small, 15 standing navy ships vs their 272. Also need a good Nordic name for my Caribbean colony.

Quebec on the other hand is a smorgasboard of French, Anglos, and Swedes. Definitely wasn't this crowded before. I've got Quebec proper for myself so I shouldn't have too much of a problem taking the fur trade for myself, but being squeezed between one of the two strongest European powers isn't very comforting.

Europe's a bit of a mess, I've got my eyes set on Lithuania since I've buckbroken Novgorod. My wars with the latter have been pretty bloody even with levies. Other than that, I also got alot of pirates on the Norwegian coast (Still don't quite understand that mechanic or how to fight back against them) and I think they're really hitting me in the wallet since I'm making noticeably less money than before.

Uhhh... What?

Well, that would explain why the Catholic Church is in a vacuum and leaving Catholicism blocked from doing the Council of Trent in 1567.

Obligatory map post, I got cucked out of colonizing most of the Carribean due to shenanigans with naval supplies not being supplied to my new world colonies in Quebec and Greenland.

I should mention that I require the tech sapport sars, what console commands do I need to use to get this back in order?
lol based
It's like my life goal of becoming Pope so I can invoke Papal infallibility to make the Church subordinate to the Southern Baptist Convention

Thoughts on stellaris 4.3?
It's still Stellaris so it's shit.

More seriously it doesn't really change that much. Smaller fleets and less exponential economy growth is a balance pass at best, it doesn't fix the mile wide inch deep nature of the game and arguably enhances the issue where after 50-75 years it's a boring slog given how far back the late/end game options are gated. Plus there's the usual host of bugs and broken features alongside stuff they still haven't balanced so your mileage will vary depending on your play style.

Happy to report that after the big new wow! stellaris update 4.3 Cetus, the ai is still not doing anything on its planets. This has been an ongoing issue for a long time now, but everyime I inspect a ai controlled planet (especially noticeable on their capital) nothing is being done. No building, districts, etc besides the default at game start.
This, as one can expect, complete nukes the concept of megacorps since ai controlled planets tend to be complete shitters, making my buildings pointless.

Getting really tired. I wish they would just move on to the next game.

Stellaris is so terrible now; trying to do an orbital empire, and rare resource generators being hooked to industry makes it impossible to be tall by mid-game. By the time I made hundreds of alloys a month, I have to now wait centuries to get Megastructures.

wtf paradox, i wanted to just grill (:_(

makes it impossible to be tall by mid-game.
Paradox definitely hates playing tall. Their games are always about kingdom making by expansion, not by internal development. Maybe Vicky 2 can be an exception, but I barely played that game for enough time to know.

I remember liking how you could dev provinces in EU4 - simulating internal development - but it's way easier to simply grab more land instead of waiting decades for the mana to pile up.

Yeah it genuinely feels like the game is just hard coded against playing tall especially now. Im basically forced to constantly keep expanding.

They really need to just move on to the next game.

Vic 2 tall is not only perfectly viable but after a certain point direct expansion becomes more of a drag than a benefit. Cost of empire is real. EU5 seems to have viable tall play too.

So when are they taking Stellaris back out to the shed?

It really should have stopped at 2.X.

The fact that Wiz got promoted after absolutely destroying stellaris is a fucking crime
Wiz is the Jar Jar Abrams of Paradox. Got in because he worked with better people on CK2+, kept getting promoted upwards after destroying games, horribly overhyped in his prime and now persona non-grata in Paradox circles.

It depends on the country and whether you are playing in singleplayer or multiplayer. There are plenty of countries in Victoria 2 that take decades (1880s-1890s) to properly compete with the major European powers, but once sufficient industrialization and literacy is reached, then bigger is objectively better. Colonial possessions are also an objective good as it does not effect your literacy while providing more population.

I mean it makes sense right? The bigger you are the more land you have to build factories and the more pops you have to work said factories etc.

No. Victoria 2 prevents this on two levels, colonies and accepted pops. Colonies prevent factories being built/expanded in them (but can still have them predefined) but also don't affect your literacy, while only accepted pops can be mobilized. So while painting the map in snatching up a bunch of colonies can be useful, it's not always a buff; you still have to manage the pops, they likely will have diminishing returns, and the competition may bring you to loggerheads with another country/player that otherwise could have been avoided.
