Working-class Catholics (predominantly Irish and Mexican) are incredibly common. I’m in Chicago, so I’m sure the number of gun owners would be skewed by the gang wars, but I think 8/10 people I know own guns.

Your point about the utter lack of concern re: Israel, Palestine, the world stage in general, is on point. (Also the lack of women aware of and informed on the discussion, but fully versed in the Kardashian shit.) But I don’t want to sound like a female misogynist so I won’t digress further.

I'm in the south. Aside from Latinos Catholics aren't super common here and the few white ones tend to be pretty solidly middle class (or higher). Evangelicals are way more common and while they don't openly hate on Catholics as much as they used to they still don't like them. And the Evangelicals don't give a shit about the Israeli Palestinian conflict beyond supporting Israel because their pastor said it'll get them into heaven and it means more scary Muslims dying.

Personally I'm sick of my sick of my taxpayer dollars being wasted on desert slapfights on the other side of the world. Give me healthcare first and then we'll talk.

The only Christian branch I know to do that are Creationists. Catholics have never taken the Bible that serious as it is supposed to hold truth with science holding the other part of truth.
