Have you read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? How similar was The Ark to that? Because Patrick has said before that The Ark was written as a continuation of HGttG because he didn't like the way it ended and thought he could do better. Then he changed some things around to make it more "his" and then pitched it to agents/publishers. He basically tricked people into thinking he could write since he was aping Douglas Adams style. When he has to write his own shit that's what it is, shitty. He sold around 6,000 physical copies of The Ark but only about 250 copies of his latest book In The Black. He fucking STINKS.

But perhaps you'd be interested in his latest work in progress? Christmas Carnage. A novel featuring a grown up Tiny Tim trying to avenge the grizzly murder of Ebenezer Scrooge.

The Ark was one of his gay mil-spec books, and as far as I can tell, it was acceptable if you like gay mil-spec books.. I think he first tried to swerve towards humour for Gate Crashers. The most shameless Douglas Adams rip off was probably Starship Repo. He was supposed to do a trilogy of hilarious space romps, but got dropped by his publisher for being witless and unreadable. It's an easy mistake to make given the kind of forgettable madlibs shit he writes.
