I don't disagree. The question remains, what is the practical purpose of posting someone's address publicly? What is the intended outcome?
There's a difference between trying to incite targeted harassment IRL and trying to make someone generally notorious.
I wouldn't want people to show up to someone's house and harass them. However, with some of these people, I would like them to be generally notorious as shitheads or losers by their community.
And any kind of personal information, including addresses, is helpful for that purpose.
For example,
Tony Reed. There's several Anthony Reeds in Maryland around the same age. Probably quite a few Erin Reeds too. Narrowing down the address and other personal information was important to identify the specific one.
So nowadays, if you work in the DC area and get an email from a colleague from "erin reed", you can go "lol, is that fucking tony?" and you have the information available to figure out if it's actually him or if it's just a coincidence.
It's actually fairly rare for anyone to act out on this information. Personally I see all kinds of weirdos and trannies on social media. Some in my area. I've giggled at them and looked them up, but never contacted them or approached them. Honestly I don't want to get into some weird argument on the street with an unhinged internet personality. You'll find that most people really try to avoid unnecessary conflict.
If you come to this site expecting to be able to post someone's personal information and have them actually harassed IRL, you're really misinformed. No one does that.
