Drunk Mexican Man Killed by Police After Threat at Bogotá Airport​

BOGOTÁ, Colombia (April 27, 2025) — A Mexican citizen was shot and killed by police at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá on Saturday evening after allegedly threatening officers while intoxicated, following an incident involving suspected solicitation of an underage sex worker, authorities confirmed.

The man, identified as 40-year-old Ethan Oliver Ralph, was initially approached by airport police around 7:45 p.m. local time after security personnel observed what they described as suspicious behavior involving a underage sex worker operating in the vicinity of the terminal.

“When officers attempted to question the individual regarding the suspected solicitation, he became aggressive and visibly agitated,” said Colonel Javier Méndez, spokesperson for the Bogotá Metropolitan Police. “It was clear he was heavily intoxicated, and his behavior quickly escalated.”

According to witnesses, Ralph began shouting obscenities at officers and threatening them.

“He was fat, red-faced, and belligerent — just stumbling around yelling at people,” said Camila Torres, a traveler who witnessed the confrontation. “When the police tried to calm him down, he just got louder and started threatening them. It was scary.”

Police officials said Ralph ignored repeated commands to stand down and at one point made a threatening gesture, reaching for what appeared to be an object in his clothing. Fearing for their safety and that of nearby passengers, officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding him.

Ralph was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or civilians were injured.

The airport briefly activated security protocols, evacuating several gates before resuming normal operations within the hour.

Colombia’s Attorney General’s Office and internal affairs have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have not confirmed whether Ralph was armed, and the precise nature of his involvement with the alleged sex worker remains under review.

This marks the second security-related incident this year at El Dorado International Airport involving an intoxicated foreign national.

I googled some info. But I think I would need to know his last known address in Mexico. I don’t know if just a name would be enough. But maybe tomorrow I could try maybe…tomorrow is my day off.
