I have to disagree with almost everything with this video.
1.) The real challenge of a pikmin game is not a time limit but rather making sure to not lose any of your pikmin. Once you've got all thirty ship parts and finish the first game for the first time any subsequent playthroughs will become more about how fast you can beat the game with the most pikmin births and with the fewest pikmin deaths. Which ties to his complaint about the....
2.) Caves. I was never bothered about the look of the caves, They remind me of that one level from the windwaker where link descends down this whole level by level. Not replenishing your pikmin save for your rare candypop bud and bulbmin was part of the challenge of the later caves. The intsa kill hazards are there to teach the player and push them to think smarter and outside the box when they walk into those floors not make them complain about them on the internet.
3.) Does Pikmin 2's plot lessens the impact of Pikmin 1's? Maybe? But what sequel wouldn't try to partially overwrite olimar's escape from the pikmin planet. With Olimar complaining about his boss and wanting to bring a souvenir home for his kids in pikmin 1, pikmin 2's plot seem like it was just bringing those elements to a conclusion.
4.) Purple spicy spray is something you can farm and is up to you when and if you want to use it. If you think it "breaks the game" it doesn't.
5.) Purple Pikmin are not OP in Pikmin 2 and I'm tired of people saying they are. Purple Pikmin is here to make the first half of the game easy while the second half is still difficult even with them. Do you really want to face an Orange Bulbord without them or a Creeping Chrysanthemum?
6.) The voyage logs were good in the first pikmin game because they worked well with the kind of story the first game had. Olimar is cut off from his civilization so he has only himself to write to. The emails work with the story of pikmin 2 because olimar is back in contact with what's happening with his boss and family and needs to hear from them.
Pikmin 1 has a special place in my heart, Pikmin 2 is the best of the three but only by a hair, and Pikmin 3 is a great continuation of both of them.
