Well they did warn that piracy supports organized crime! You should listen because COPYRIGHT I S COOL!(tm)

I don't see Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in there though...
Took me forever to realize he says "I have no time for GRASSES" in his introduction scene where they suffocate his henchman with a plastic bag.

I'm sure everyone is familiar with "YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A CAR!", but has anyone seen this:

I found it while ripping a R2 DVD of the UK show "Bottom". Definitely some PFP material in there.
I used to watch the boxset of Bottom on repeat growing up and I remember this evil fuck always terrifying me as a kid. It didn't help that the ads on DVDs never let you skip them either.

Non-skippable content was one of the most niggardly "features" baked into DVDs. It became maddening in cases where I wanted to watch a lot of extras with short run times and had to sit through the SAME FUCKING SHIT over and over in between.

I still curse that shit when I am autistically ripping DVD extras and trying to figure out what is what in the VOB mess..

What about something where the pc doesn't have to be with them? Something where they can "tap" into my pc.
so like jellyfin? if you set up jellyfin it acts like netflix except using your server instead of some corpo's. it even has a nice web interface. just set up port forwarding and get a free domain from duckdns or something (if you have a tp link router you can use tplink dns).

you can start with swizzin and set up jellyfin with sonarr and radarr to automatically download movies and shows. Over time you will probably redo your configuration a few times or so once you learn more about the individual components and end up with a home server with 72tb of storage running a bunch of docker containers with nginx, sonarr, radarr, prowlarr, emby, kavita, calibre-web automated, qbittorrent, nzbget, organizr, etc.
but swizzin makes getting set up pretty easy, and once you're ready for docker you can slowly migrate applications over.

>piracy will destroy our shitty industries
GOOD, copyright is a cancer and should be taken alongside it.
also while we are talking about cuckright antipiracy messages i'd like to share one of my country.
a bit of monkey lore, since we got rid of pennies any uneven change makes some sellers give candy in order to complete the change in a 7/11 equivalent in burgerland, him saying "can i give the change in bullets" is basically a wordplay because bullets (bala) in portuguese can also be used for candy and the message is basically about funding organized crime and shieet, hence the bullets as change rather than a simple candy as the buyer thought it would be, it's lowkey funny because most of the pirated movies showcased this message, even funnier because it was only to protect the film industry, so music and games were fine to pirate according to the message :sighduck:

Or...and hear me out here...you can just go touch grass.

What do you mean? Is it like in Japan where there's yen and nothing else?
we used to have 1 cent coins, now it's only 5, 10, 25 and 50, hence 5 multiplier uneven shit like 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 change is sometimes given as candy because the 1 cent coins are kil, since 2005's.

I hate that in the year of our Lord 2025 almost every single price still ends in 99. I have to tell the clerk "keep the 1 cent [equivalent in my currency]" every single time because I don't want to carry those useless pieces of metal that only make my wallet heavier. I'm afraid it's never going to go away.

It's a mental tactic to make people think something is cheaper than it actually is.

I'm actually quite surprised the US mint finally abandoned pennies. It's something they've been threatening for like 30 years.

There's something about the permanence of DVD advertisements that makes me like them. They absolutely suck massive gargantuan dick on a regular DVD player but on a computer, where you can SKIP them, they're fun. Anyway, here are some trailers, intro's and anti-piracy video's that I pirated:

I frequently got this one during my threatre visits:

Well, to be fair, now in some places likes (formerly) Great Britain can detain you for posting a mean tweet, so detaining you for piracy, real or alleged, is increasingly likely.

Look, everyone knows that, I'm just sick of it. It's a pet peeve of mine. Can you please just put a nice, round number on the tag? soidfghw084ety-WEFBV0834GV03GT3HBVEROKVBDFVCN,xfmhnvk34

denmark is really fucking egregious when it comes to this, fining like a 50 year old man 5000 dollars for uploading movies is insanity, i do not care how "prolific" they are. i hope that one day the shit authorities do to people and their families is reciprocated on their own, im not trying to encourage violence or anything like that but i would really to see these people's search histories and that of their family members. expose the fucking hypocrisy.

They’re never going to do that. Even though everybody knows the mental trick, it still works so they’ll still do it.

Maybe the .99 will become .95, though.

How would they know if it works? Although at this point everyone (except me) is so used to it, people would probably feel weird seeing normal prices. I guess.

My favourites are the countries that introduced "storage taxes" that pay directly to conglomerates of copyright holders on blank digital media like burnable CD/DVD or HDDs. Because the assumption is you'll use blank media for piracy.
So piracy is fine then since I paid for the privilege?

My favorite thing about pirated copies of movies and porn videos is they almost always include the "FBI Warning! Don't you pirate this you naughty little bastards!" in the video. Just because it's funny as fuck, and the best kind of "fuck you" to the bellends who think those warnings do something.

It's not just the price "appearing" cheaper either -- it's harder for people to figure the sales tax on something that's $1.99 versus $2 (nice round numbers are easier to calculate with than decimals for most people). The tendency is for people to just kinda "forget" about sales tax and since everybody mostly uses plastic now, they don't even think about it. It makes people more likely to buy and to spend because it's "too hard" to do the math that could well return a result that says "oh hey wait, this candy won't cost me $2, it'll actually cost me $2.13 (which is not a nice round number) so fuck it, I'll skip the candy."

The tax man would really prefer it if you kept buying and pretending not to see the sales tax, if you please.
