Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Well, the game drops publicly tomorrow...

Any wagers on what may happen? I'm kinda banking that the game will crash due to the servers not being able to take it.
It'll probably be decided really quickly.

If the servers are bad or buggy, then there's really no reason to play Temtems. It'll most likely drop off the radar like a stone if that happens. And considering the iffy results of the stress tests, I'm not 100% confident they're ready for a Steam release, even in early access.

If the game's functional, then it will come down HARD to content - keeping a relatively quick delivery of it will be critical. Especially as there's basically marsh gas for content rn. If they can't keep the flow going, this will taper off, with desperate people hoping it will get Nintendo to care.

and Icons and other direct clones of popular nintendo games that lack the branding.

There's a reason why we're never getting another Dragon Quest Monsters again.
But, um, they keep releasing new ones. Joker versions, and yeah, that part 3 to original setting that is, apparently, slow-developing. So bad example.

Yeah, it's just that the Dragon Quest franchise as a whole is based in Japan. Yo-kai watch is similar, with a brief sharp spike when it first came out in 2015 and then slowly shrinking back into Japan. It didn't help Yo-kai that the next year after it first debuted (and was thought to be a potential Pokemon killer), Pokemon Go came out and stole back the spotlight.

Also, I was looking through the (very basic) TemTem forums, and discovered this lol in the feedback section. This was due to bright flashing lights giving a player headaches.

Most MMOs are fucked up on launch. So it'll have a grace period with more enthusiast level players. The normies will dip quick tho.

I have a feeling it'll be a TORtanic situation where it will just crash and burn as it shits itself from servers going up in flames and the content being buggy/imbalanced.

I always have mixed feeling of chairman rose, I don't hate him, and he looks neat, but his excution of his plan was god awful.

Yes his plan was stupid, but I can get behind why he did it. I think he makes a great analog to the pokemon dev team.

As they both lacked the excution part of the plan, and did it with good intentions(Probably).
I think they were trying too hard to make Rose a deep character who has one of those "evil because I need to be" mentalities but it's really hard to frame Rose's character. He doesn't really feel like an antagonist, just some guy who hops in and does some shit just because, and shrugs as he's dragged off in handcuffs after everything goes to shit. There wasn't even any buildup with Rose. He, Oleana, and Macro Cosmos just suddenly turn evil practically overnight. I think the whole thing with Rose releasing Eternatus was really unnecessary and should have been replaced with a more worthwhile story to accompany the Gym Challenge story.

Don't even get me started with these two.

Actually, on a whim, I decided to check out Temtem's Kickstarter - Managed to get over half a million dollars, which is respectable, but MY GOD.

Some of the rewards were just... BLEH.

Like, the worst is 6000 dollars to help design a Temtem. And in case you're wondering, 4 people have taken that tier.

So, if Temtem goes down the shitter, that's 6 grand down the drain - And people are bitching about 30 dollar DLC?!

Wow.

For context, Shovel Knight's Director For A Day - an equivalent or arguably higher value item in terms of context, though maybe more or less in workload - cost 1k. But to be fair, that's only four people. They might see Pokemon's DLC price as perfectly reasonable.

I more lol at them for going to all that effort when another guy made a Fakemon and the Temtem devs paid HIM for it.

Edit: Should we make a new thread for Temtem? It's a small thing, but now's the time, if ever, to make it.

I want to give it a try, but God do I hate the fucking aesthetic.

Dear God that music

You mean the sword and shield otherkin. How much hair gel do you think they use to get it like that.

First, the Temtem thread might be a good idea if there's a shitshow today for the game.

Second, let me lay out the other tiers that seem a bit suspect:

At the 60 dollar tier, you get a plushie of one of the Temtem, which is at 30 cm/12 inch. Which if you want an idea of how big that is:

Seems a little cheap for a plushie that size, and this is the Temtem they chose for this:
1579608800567.png

Over 2200 backers for that tier. So, that'd be a costly plush making.

Pledge 100 dollars?

Get a cloth map and get an exclusive emote selection in the game.

Pledge 200 - You get a statue of a tamer and a Temtem,
46 backers

Pledge 350?
You get a Luma Temtem (the shiny variation) as a starter
123 backers

Pledge 700
All three luma starters
22 backers

Like, people have the right to choose what their money goes to, but this seems like the one thing that people were afraid that Gamefreak would do - put monsters behind a paywall. I know that they're 'shiny' mons and it's possible to get them in the game, but at this point we don't know what the rate of encountering Lumas are.

I'd also like to point out that in order to get to the alpha of the game, you had to pay 35 dollars

Oh, and there's gonna be monetization in the game.

It's a little jarring how they say that there's not a Luma Boost, but you're willing to sell them as Kickstarter bonuses - so yeah.

I want to give it a try, but God do I hate the fucking aesthetic.

Two things about this: I just LOVE how they put the platypus in the thumbnail, yeah, we get it guys, you bought a fake mon line for your game of 161 monsters, I get that they're trying to catch the eyes of players who say that fakemon to get them interested in the game, but it kinda feels like false advertising since most of the other monsters look NOTHING like that line.

And 2, this is just a poor trailer - it's like your generic anime opening. Like, if this was a parody of how generic it is... Then it'd be funny.

And the music... Oh god. You can tell they're trying to catch onto the hype of the music, however, it doesn't work - It doesn't have that catchy theme that pokemon openings had.

Take the english opening of Pokemon Johto, it's got that upbeat sounds with it that gains more power as the song gets to, and the lyrics are pretty catchy and simple to understand.

Now, I'm not saying pokemon's openings are all good, but they have a charm that this opening from Temtem just outright lacks.

Also, the Johto openings are the best in pokemon, fight me.
