Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I mean, to be fair, this was gen 1. Y'know, back when a good bit of the animals that showed up there didn't have a pokemon equivalent yet. I guarantee you that if all the pokemon that we have now somehow existed back then, the realistic animals wouldn't be there.
But there were a dog and worms, both of which had clear gen1 pokemon counterparts, and birds, too. And fish.

If you think about it, the "Indian elephant" that a number of early dex entries mentioned could easily be retconned to mean Copperajah. While it debuted in Galar, the lore mentions it came from another region long ago, and its design is already based on Indian elephants.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about him and I remember a lot of the pokemon from the Alola region. Although, he's a crab. Not a lobster.
Would Clawitzer count as a lobster? It has the word in its japanese name (Bloster) 🤔

Alright, then my original point still stands, we are yet to have a lobster pokemon.
Between Corphish, Clauncher, and Crabominable, a lot of the space that lobsters could fill has been covered.

Unrelated, but TemTems is apparently open for a stress test Right Now, so if any kiwis want to try it out, now is a good time.

I probably said this before, but SwSh is like, the first draft of a potentially great game. Chairman Rose’s plan isn’t inherently stupid, it just doesn’t really work with the Galar that we see.

In order for his plan to make sense, the whole environmentalism theme needs to be turned up to 11. The mine shouldn’t be this nice clean cave filled with glittering jewels, it should be dark, burnt-out, and absolutely crawling with poison types. Instead of being a literal fucking hallway, Spikemuth should have been an industrial city full of massive smoking factories just pumping pollution into the air. There should have been at least one heavily polluted body of water where using the fishing rod will just give you Grimers instead of your typical water types. They could have also done more Galarian forms in line with Corsola, where it’s an existing Pokémon that’s been negatively affected by urbanization/industrialization - be it an old grass type turning into a grass/ghost with wilted yellow leaves, or a water type turned into a poison type with the suitable design changes. Hell, they could even reference the Pepper moth by adding a grey/black Galarian Butterfree that you can obtain by evolving it inside Spikemuth. Galarian Corsola is literally a fucking dead Corsola, so it’s not like these ideas are too edgy for a Pokémon game.

If it were shown that the industrialization of Galar was unsustainable and having a clearly visible negative effect on the environment and Pokémon, then Rose’s willingness to go THAT far for a clean energy source would make sense. As it is now, it’s like... oh yeah, everything’s going great, but the environment MIGHT be fucked a thousand years from now, so let’s summon a literal eldritch abomination that may very well destroy our entire country.

If we’re gonna delve into more fan fiction territory, I would’ve based that aspect of Rose on Elon Musk. He’s completely confident in his own abilities and literally doesn’t even consider that things going wrong with his plan is actually a possibility, which leads to reckless actions with severe consequences. This could involve making him a bit younger and more douchey, to the point that he can sort of serve as a direct counter to Leon’s “actually just a nice guy”. “Arrogant genius with good intentions who fucks shit up due to his own hubris” is a lot more interesting of a villain archetype than “guy who seems nice but actually has a nefarious plan”.
Maybe Rose can sense something that everyone else thinks is BS until 20 years later when everyone starts thinking "Hmmmm....maybe he was onto something after all"

In other words, he'd be the Pokemon world equivalent of Al Gore.

I don't see how Temtem will work in the long run, you can pick your player's gender but the monsters are still only male and female. Someone is just bound to get upset by the difference.

People were upset for all of 5 seconds when it was revealed that G-max Eevee's move only attracts Pokemon of the opposite gender still. If some troon screeches about no monsters having a special snowflake gender nobody's going to give a shit.

Had a chance to try it out during their Friday stress test.
The battle system is similar to Pokemon's but different enough that it doesn't feel like a direct ripoff. It's a double battle / stamina based system where you can command your Tem to wait a turn if you're trying to capture or need more stamina. Using a move that would send your stamina into the negatives will cause your Tem to hurt itself. Also, certain moves can only be used after a set amount of turns, usually moves that hit multiple targets.
Overall it was enjoyable for a monster collector.

>genderless
>learns attract
>works on no one

Is that actual queer rep?

While about 70% of me agrees with you, keep in mind that Temtem's biggest audience is unhappy Pokemon fans. This seems to be the unhappy competitive people and the unhappy snowflakes. There'll probably be some desperate Stanning, at least at first, but this fanbase is primed to go apeshit.

Anecdotally, I can tell you that several of my friends are super excited for Temtem because they're primarily PC gamers who like MMOs and are happy to not have to spend several hundred dollars on a Switch just to only play Pokemon on it. I wouldn't be surprised if that type of gamer ends up being the silent majority.

Well, the game drops publicly tomorrow...

Any wagers on what may happen? I'm kinda banking that the game will crash due to the servers not being able to take it.
