Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

As far as i'm concerned, Serebii never had any forum attached to it. It's just a guide-oriented Pokemon website.
Yeah when I still used the site I never even considered whether it had a forum or not. To me the most memorable part of serebii is that the UI has, as far as I know, never ever been updated and it likely never will until the day it finally dies. It's just an ancient relic of early 2000s internet that is still alive.

I decided to start a nuzlocke on Emerald; the rules that I set for myself are the following:
  1. I have to permanently box any Pokémon that faint.
  2. Only the first Pokémon in a route or area can be caught; if it faints or flees then I have to move on.
  3. If I encounter a Pokémon that I already own: I can continue battling until I find one that I do not own.
  4. Shiny Pokémon do not count as encounters and can be caught freely.
  5. Stationary Pokémon (i.e. Pokémon that can be fought by interacting with them) can be caught freely.
  6. Gift Pokémon and Eggs can be accepted freely.
  7. Traded Pokémon can be accepted freely.
  8. Style must be on "Set" at all times.
  9. My Pokémon cannot exceed the highest level of the next Gym Leader's Pokémon MINUS ONE, and cannot exceed Level 45 until I initially fight the Elite Four.
  10. Any Pokémon that I obtain have to be nicknamed after members of the Kiwi Farms (I am feeling overly sentimental given recent events).
Overall the rules are pretty lenient; this is my first nuzlocke and the first time that I have played Pokémon in ages, so I wanted to start small.

I picked Treecko as my starter and named it Riku, defeated May without any issues, and got started on my journey. On Route 101 I encountered a Wurmple, but Riku decided to land a Critical Hit and kill it; I ended up going to Route 103 for an encounter and got a Poochyena (who I named SIGSEGV). After that I headed west on Route 102, where my first battle was with a Zigzagoon (nicknamed Sundae). Another Wurmple appeared on Route 104 and this time I caught it; I named it AnOminous because the thought of that is funny to me. AnOminous ended up evolving into a Dustox quickly. Petalburg Woods was a breeze, and I caught a Shroomish there; it was named rotollo. I geared up for the battle with Roxanne in Rustboro, and happened upon a Skitty on Route 116 who I named KariKamiya (there is no space because of the character-limit).

The battle with Roxanne made me a little nervous because I always had trouble with the Nosepass. My strategy ended up being to equip a Quick Claw to rotollo, sweep the Geodudes, and then paralyze the Nosepass with Stun Spore and use Leech Seed to whittle it down while keeping my health up; after that I spammed Absorb to get the win. Originally I was going to have KariKamiya use Attract, but she and the Nosepass are females; SIGSEGV was going to come in with Sand Attack if I had trouble which never ended up happening.

I also caught a Whismur in Rusturf Tunnel and named it "Ron Toye", because @Ron Toye is always on the verge of explouding. An Ultra Ball that Sundae picked up was used to contain Ron's overwhelming masculinity. Whether or not Ron will join the party remains to be seen. I might replace SIGSEGV with Ron because the former has a Modest Nature (Poochyenas are physical, not special) and almost died while I was trying to catch the latter.

The time is high because I had the emulator sped up.

So far no one has died so that is great, but I expect that there will be some losses from here on out. This has been an interesting experience so far, and I hope to see it through to the end.
SIGSEGV is no longer canon. Remove it.

my nigga 👍

Seriously though, alot of people give Delcatty bad slack in the competitive scene but it's actually pretty good if you know the right set to give it. It shines better in Gen 7 where it get's a HUGE boost to it's speed stat.

The set I used to have when I had SM/USUM was this:
Delcatty (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Wonder Skin
EVs: 132 HP / 248 Atk / 16 Def / 96 SpD / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Facade
- Sucker Punch
- Cosmic Power
- Stomping Tantrum

Sucker Punch and Cosmic power are egg moves. Sucker Punch would be for fast ghosts/psychic types that would try to fuck you up. Stomping Tantrum is for Steel/Rock types that try to wall you. Wonder Skin is pretty much it's "best" ability since Normalize is useless against ghosts and Cute Charm is situational, but it's by no means perfect (it's basically a coin-flip regarding whether or not you'll get status'd). Unfortunately since the Gen3 berries (Figy/Wiki/Mago/Aguav/Iapapa) have been nerfed to high holy hell since Gen7, Sitrus Berry would be the best bet to recover some HP (unless you wanna use leftovers the whole time). The idea is to keep boosting with Cosmic power until you either max out, or use your sitrus berry. If you get status'd, thats where Facade comes into play. If your poisoned or paralyzed, you're going to fuck the other team up greatly. If you're burned, you'll still get the boost from Facade, but you'll have a harder time killing things that resist/immune to normal attacks.

Why not put more EVs in Speed?
Because it's entire bulk (HP/Def/SpD) is lackluster to say the least with SpD being the worst offender. If those stats don't get some love and attention, even with a boost it's not gonna survive long. The goal with the set I made is to send it out against an unboosted opponent (preferably as the first pokemon just to test the waters and see what your opponent is trying to do, unless your opponent is ridiculously obvious by having pokemon like Skarmory or Ferrothorn, which ALWAYS goes first). Without EV's, at lv100 it's HP is 281, which unless your name is Shuckle with it's immensely high Def/SpD, it's gonna drain FAST, especially when it's Def/SpD is 166/146 respectively. 16 EV's in Speed give it 220, which is good enough for most things that aren't top tier, and this is assuming you have other pokemon on your team that can finish the job Delcatty was in the middle of working on before it died. 16/96 EV's in it's Def/SpD brings them both to an equal 170, which with a single 1.5x boost with Cosmic Power brings it to 255 evenly. That, combined with its 132 EV's in HP (which brings it to a better 318 ) means you can keep Delcatty in the field long enough for your opponent to go "wtf?!?!" because by then you'll have the element of surprise to your advantage while your opponent figures out what to do against something it's likely never seen before.

Or to put it in another way, even if you give it more speed, it doesn't have enough attack power to be successful as a Focus Sash user. As you can see with my set, it's already at an adamant nature, so it's not going to go any higher than the 250 range, plus it's only boosting move for attack is Work-Up (or calm mind if you're psychotic enough to use its horrible special attack). If it got Sword's Dance, that'd be a different story.

I’m not much for the meta-game stuff, just don’t have the patience or desire to go through all the charts and leveling and whatnot. But I got Sword a week ago and I really like it. The wild area is such a great idea. Not a fan of the Dynamax though.

I have been having a ton of fun naming Pokemon after all sorts of stuff, including my favorite, a Chewtle named Astro Trump (seriously, they look like Donald Trump with Astro Boy hair.), which I’m looking forward to surprise trading and hoping it winds up with some mega hipster who cries about it on Twitter.

I lost my Jigglypuff. I reached Ecruteak (didn't go there after catching the Sudowoodo last night), and I checked out the gym very quick to just fight one of the trainers. Five Gastly in a row, not bad with Jigglypuff and her Rollout despite Curse. Got her to level 23 that way.

After healing I decided to head out to Route 38 very quick for a catch, which was a female Meowth I named Missy. On my way back, I ran into a Tauros. I thought "Hey, this is easy EXP", and kept Jigglypuff out.

Tauros had a Tackle critical, and Rollout then missed on its third row. And Tauros has Horn Attack which I forgot about when I hit "Fight". Jigglypuff survived that with two HP, but she was stuck in Rollout when I should've pulled her out after the miss. It wasn't enough to KO Tauros.

The shock of losing my precious Jigglypuff, the one Pokémon I first wanted for the Nuzlocke and had that lucky 5% encounter, made me flee the scene when I could've given a Pokémon some EXP. I thought I'd have her on a bit longer to at least become a Wigglytuff after Mom buys a Moon Stone since honestly, I wasn't sure if I was going to have her on long enough for the Elite Four.

I'm sorry, Hilary. (:_(

(Hilary the Jigglypuff--lvl. 5-lvl. 23; felled by a wild Tauros and trainer incompetence)

If you want to get another (assuming you can; I dunno what rules you have in place) then you will have to wait until Kanto; you can get Jigglypuffs on Routes 3 and 4. If you had been playing Crystal then you could have gotten another while in Johto (Routes 34 and 35).
I've made it a rule to not have duplicates, so there's no replacing my little Jiggly.

I would've waited till I encountered a Machop to name it SIGSEGV.

Make the chad proud.

did anyone see that
So t;dr of the plot is... Team Plasma was right? Goddamn, some of these fight scenes are brutal. The Pokémon masks and the goons wearing them remind me of Hotline Miami.

Someone, quick! Photoshop the BRAZZERS logo onto this image.
