Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Maybe one way to evolve a ghost type eevee would be to let it level up around an old graveyard/specifically around a shrine. It’s Pokédex entry can be about how it’s a companion which guides children murdered by other Pokémon into the heavens to prevent them from becoming evil spirits.
There are already a few pokemon that serve a similar purpose in universe if the pokedex entries are anything to go by.

Hisuisan Typhlosion's pokedex entry says that purifies lost souls with his flames:

And then there's Dusknoir's Dex entry:

Haven't bought a Pokemon game since Moon but since there's apparently going to be a new version of Quagsire I might now. Just hope the starters aren't as ugly as the Gen 8 ones. That was a big reason why I didn't get Gen 8, the starters and most other Pokemon were simply visually unappealing.

Literally my only hope is that the starters don’t all become Furry Bait again.

If I keep my expectations low enough, I’ll only be pleasantly surprised
Even if they aren't furry bait, furries are still going to go to town with them. It's a lose-lose situation with those guys.

Unpopular opinion, but I think BW had the best story out of all the games, and the implications and connections between Ghetsis, N, Zoroark and the whole underwater ruins were very interesting. As well as the whole two kings mythology.
I don't remember the underwater ruins having any connections to ghetsis and N, care to share this theory?

Just give it a Dusk Stone, Jesus Christ what is wrong with you? "To evolve Eevee to Spookeon you have to fill your party with dead eeveelutions and take them to El Pueblo Lavendero and release them all." Why do you hate Eevee??
Blame vaporeon, and the mere nature of the pokefucker fandom that exists around it.

Oh yeah, I can answer this one due to my PhD in Pokemon autist theories. The Abyssal Ruins have messages you can decipher that talks about various ideals (or truths, lmao) about how a king should act and behave, and certain ones reflect story beats and abilities N has; that great king [indecipherable symbol 1] can talk to all beings, that he defeated [indecipherable 3] and got [indecipherable 4] to join him in a day, and that he called [indecipherable 2] beings, which may be referencing back to how N can talk to Pokemon, that he beat and recruited Reshiram/Zekrom, and how he says Pokemon are individual creatures that need to be liberated from human control. These traits lining up between the ancient king and N implies that N is in fact the descendent of the king of the Abyssal Ruins.

The lore of the games talk about there being two kings who founded Unova. In the Abyssal Ruins depending on which version you're playing, the symbols used for [indecipherable 3/4] get switched around, which implies the king in the Abyssal Ruins was the victor of the war and that he won using the legendary Pokemon that N befriends in your version, while the king who loses returns to Relic Castle with the other legendary, which is why you find the opposite legendary's stone in the depths of Relic Castle. Dragonspire Tower was presumably the place from where the other king ruled from or at least served as some commemorative structure for the winner's dragon, considering that was where the victor king's dragon stone was contained.

The final treasure in the Abyssal Ruins, the Relic Crown, is a darkened and rusted copy of the one placed on N's head in the opening cutscene. This would imply that the crown N was given in the opening scene was the crown belonging to the king who had lost the war, since the Abyssal king's crown was still in the underwater ruins and since the crown that would be in the Relic Castle isn't present or discoverable in-game. Some people believe that this implies Ghetsis was the descendent of the king of Relic Castle since Team Plasma already had a presence there and since Ghetsis clearly was in possession of the much shinier and less worn loser crown, but theres not as much evidence to support that. Its fun to read into Ghetsis' motivations from that angle, though.

Yeah I really miss Pokemon regions being based in Japan. In fact Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee and BDSP although based on existing regions still kept the same vibe when it came to characters, the Let's Go Games could've stayed from that but they didn't.

Orre and Unova were fortunate in the time they got released in, western society is too cucked for me to want regions based on it anymore. On top of all that Game Freak does wrong, they definitely reflect the cultural and social aspects of the regions fairly accurate to the era they release the game in.
Yeah, I'm fine with the Pokemon world drawing inspirations from other places in the world. I just wish they would leave "modern sensibilities" out of it. This is a world where minors can travel on their own and defeat adults with years of experience. But alas, this is too much to ask.

Speaking of Unova, I think Gen 5 remakes will come in Gen 10 when there's presumably a new console out. Because Gen 9 is still on the Switch and Pokemon seems to do 1 main gen remake per console (Let's Go being a special case). I hope it doesn't end up disappointing like BD/SP but I can't keep my hopes up at this point.

And we got some more updates for several facets of the IP…

On the TCG side more info about two “Ultra-Premium Collections”, one will be featuring Arceus VStar (a major player in the TCG’s competitive scene) while another will feature Charizard and contain three promo Charizard cards (in the form of a Pokémon V, VMAX, and VSTAR). The Arceus UPC will be $99.99 USD while the Charizard UPC will be $119.99 USD. I wholly expect the Charizard UPC to be scalped to high Hell and back just like the Celebrations UPC was.

Oh, and during the World Championships’ livestream they’ll be releasing a code for both the TCG Online anc TCG Live that, when redeemed, will give you a copy of the Secret Rare print of Path to the Peak. For those not versed in the competitive scene Path to the Peak is really common in most decks due to its Ability-disrupting nature.

On the main game side two distributions are going to happen soon and one is currently available. For Worlds’ livestream a serial code will be given out that will give you a Lv. 50 Victini that comes with V-Create, Zen Headbutt, Work Up, and Flame Charge and is holding a Starf Berry. An in-person giveaway at Worlds will give you a Sinestea that knows Celebrate, Memento, Metronome, and Aromatherapy and is holding a Moomoo Milk. A Lv. 80 Dracovish based off of Ash’s can be obtained using the serial code GANJ0UAG0882 until August 25th, here’s the event info that’s been lovingly ripped from Serebii’s site.

Oh, and there’s a Wild Area event that causes the Impdimp line to spawn in Raid Dens. And yes there’s an increased chance of finding Shiny Grimmsnarl.

Pokemon Go is also doing a special event for Worlds and includes a global event (check the “celebration event in Pokémon Go“ tab).

Speaking of more things that will get scalped, apparently McDonalds will be doing a Pokémon promotion, which appears to align with the upcoming Victini giveaway during the World Championship:

Also, the official stats of Ash, Cynthia, Leon, and Diantha, were revealed in a PWC video:

We actually got a complete list of cards for the 2022 McDonald’s promotion (said promotion was also leaked last month), it’s actually pretty bad.

The only cards that might be worth anything are the Confetti Holo prints of Rowlet, Gossifleur, Pikachu, and possibly Smeargle for a couple of reasons (Rowlet, Gossifleur, and Smeargle are used in some rogue decks whilst Pikachu is collector bait).

I genuinely forgot that Victini existed.

I'm not sure on the context of "experience", but is it so low because he's only "10", while the other three are grown adults? I guess he really does reset each region, because you'd think given all his travelling... I'm sure Diantha's going to get her ass beat by Leon, just like Alain. A shame because her battle with Lance seemed to show that she was strategic.

I think it's so low because it's a global ranking and Ash isn't really bright.

Ash only went through seven regions and didn't win once in a championship.
(Alola doesn't count)

The champions probably went through many more tournaments and are easier to rank.
