Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Oh, and I forgot about another TCG product that‘s coming out in a couple of months but if you know where to look you can get it as early as today.

This is the Pokémon TCG: Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle, it’s basically a 40-count bag of mini-packs containing three cards each. It’s basically meant to be a non-candy alternative you can hand out to trick-or-treaters during Halloween.

The theming is for this it’s basically on the packaging itself: the cards are basically Ghost/Psychic/Dark-types that match the season. Unlike the McDonald’s set all of these cards retain their original set symbols and numbers and not all of ‘em have the potential to be holo, but they do have a Pikachu Pumpkin-themed stamp on ‘em in a similar manner to other cards. The cards that are holo in the set consist of Mewtwo, Gengar, Mimikyu, Darkrai, Trevenant, Chandelure, Mismagius, Dusknoir, Gourgeist, and Hatterene.

As for the “scalping level” this product may have I‘d rate it as being low. None of the cards are particularly good in the competitive scene (Pumpkaboo has some use as a Stadium cleanser, Polteageist is a key part of the “Mad Party” deck archetype, and Mimikyu saw some play until the Dyna Tree Hill Stadium card came out) and none of the cards are of particular interest to collectors due to how easy they are to pull (reports show that the entire set can be completed with a single bag), the only way I could see someone making any money off these is if they squirrel ‘em away for a couple of years and either sell the packs or sell the entire bag. If you’re interested in picking these up for trick-or-treaters this year I’d wait until they reach a wider market come September 5th, a lot of stores will be getting these and they’ll only be $15.99 per bag unless your local scalpers are still breathing.

It's so weird when any pokemon puts on shoes.

Although, since unite is being talked about, check out this one:
This is why I want costumes in the main game. A lot of the Unite costumes have been fun, then you have the Special Delivery cards and the postman Dragonite from the anime. Even if it was 1 per evo line for most evo lines.

I wonder if Cowboy Hat Caterpie would ever be there. Then again, I feel tha they do not wan to acknowledge a forced meme by someone who keeps molesting the Pokémon Go Twitter account.

Yecch, GO has enough evolution-locked costumed ‘mons and I really don’t want Niantic to add another one because of memes.
It's worth noting that this is coming from TPCi rather than The Pokémon Company or Game Freak, this is solely to get brownie points and/or tax breaks.

Pokémon World Championship livestreams are up on Twitch and the main site, use the schedule here to tune in on sections you want to watch. It’s also been announced that the TCG and Scarlet/Violet reveals will be shown during the closing ceremony on Sunday.

Also, the code for Victini was revealed a little while ago. It’s W0RLD22V1CT0RY and is valid until Sunday at 23:59 UTC. Here’s some general info (Serebii got the Ribbon wrong, it’s actually has the Souvenir Ribbon and not the Classic Ribbon seen here).

Oh, and I don’t know if it’s true for everyone but the one I got has flawless IVs.

EDIT: The code for the SR Path to the Peak was revealed: Worlds22London and it has a 100k limit with the code still being valid as of ~50 minutes ago.

The Path to the Peak code is still valid as of posting.

Also worth reminding people that Victini is actually legal in VGC and Ranked SwSh under the Mythicals allowed ruleset, and one of the older Mythicals that isn't a repeatable in-game event now. That little thing is a monster with V-Create.

I remember that Entei had the same problem: it really wants a Jolly nature to try and keep up with speed creep, but it's HGSS event with Extreme Speed was locked to Adamant. Luckily Gen 8 added both Nature Mints for my shiny event Entei and the ability to just learn event moves like Entei's Extreme Speed and Sacred Fire. That was a godsend for a lot of Pokemon.

I feel the Pokémon franchise really hit its peak in black and white. Everything else it’s just seemed just like downhill from then. They are basically just milking it now. This could just be me getting older and cynical. But I don’t find the franchise has the same feel as the older generations. I will admit legends was an interesting concept. I just wish they had put more effort into the environment. Oblivion had better graphics than that. I probably would’ve enjoyed that more when I was a kid.

Its impossible to surpass this level of kino.

Everything since has just been cheap gimmicks and excessive genwun boomer pandering. Legends was fun though for what it was.

If there’s one thing I love about the TCG finals is that you can really see how each player makes the best of his or her deck.

That said, seeing both Masters and Juniors division end with mirror matches featuring two different decks (Arceus VSTAR/Flying Pikachu VMAX for Masters and Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR/Inteleon for Seniors) is a bit sad. At least I managed to build the former deck today and that TPCi decided to move rotation to early 2023, now I can make people seethe at a local level.

EDIT: I made a whoopsie. It turns out that the Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR/Inteleon mirror was for the Juniors division, Seniors actually had a Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX/Inteleon Vs. Origin Forme Palkia VSTAR/Inteleon match.
I enjoyed Pokemon up through Diamond & Pearl. I literally don't remember Black & White or X & Y, so that is where I think they fell into a rut.
The games fell into a rut with XY, Gen 5 was one of the better games still managed to experiment with some things.

The downside is that they tried to do a “soft” reset with BW and a lot of people hated that they had to work with a completely new Pokedex and anything pre-BW had to be transferred over. BW2 tried to fix that by expanding the dex to include some pre-Gen V ‘mons but people still complained and that’s why starting from Gen VI-on you have games that are gimmick-heavy and reliant on past Pokémon like Charizard.
