Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Time for a little update on my Sun Hardcore Nuzlocke.
Haven't played much since last time, but I beat Totem Wishiwashi.
Right now, I',m doing some backtracking to get the team ready for the upcoming third trial.

My Team:
Fomantis Lv. 20
Slowpoke Lv. 20
Trumbeak Lv. 20
Mudbray Lv. 20
Brionne Lv. 21
Misdreavus Lv. 22

Box: Diglett, Sableye, Eevee Egg, Grubbin, Magikarp, Finneon

Deaths: Smeargle (Totem Gumshoos Tackle), Zubat (Wild Pokemon), Rattata (???), Cottonnee (Dexios Espeon), Morelull (Wild Psyducks Water Pulse Crit in the rain), Cutiefly (Totem Wishiwashis water gun)

Dexio has been the hardest fight yet. If Cottonnee hadn't sacrificed itself to land a paralysis and a leech seed, i would've wiped to his confusion spam.
130 Special Attack is too much at level 15, if i havent got a Darktype at this point of the game, i always lose one or two pokemon to him.

There is a huge level cap issue between Trial 2, 3 and 4, each being only two Levels higher than the previous one.
You have to be careful about that.

considering the everlasting USUM controversy, that vanilla SM feels pretty empty as a game.
compared to the improved version. You cant even go upstairs in the hotel on akala island. USUM is more fleshed out, everybody keeps
hating on it because the expectations were too high after BW 2, but didn't Platinum do the same thing?
You know, to be the game the inferior Diamond an Pearl will never be. Nobody is shitting on platinum.

Pokemon Go is having another shit show by increasing the price of an item that lets you battle in raids remotely by almost 100% as well as limiting their use to 5 times a day from the previous unlimited. It wouldn't surprise me if the remote raid pass was actually accounting for like half their current revenue since it's what whales use to grind. everyone everywhere is clowning on them for this decision that makes playing the game anywhere but big cities a bad experience since you aren't just going to stumble into other players for raids in urban and suburban areas.

Niantic is truly a hilarious company, it's like it's run by the three stooges if they where troons. All this effort to screw over legitimate players and it just makes spoofing all the more powerful.

Question: Are you using Z-Moves in your nuzlocke?

Part of the hate on USUM is the fact that for a 'third edition' its released as two games, which irritates as its meant to be the definitive edition (like Emerald/Platinum). B2W2 gets away with it somewhat because its set as sequels.
Frankly this is only a problem for people who buy both versions of a game, which is weird and a waste of money.
Also people dont like what they did with Lusamine in Ultra

Dextero published an article about the whole "kid gets DQ'd from a high-level Pokémon TCG tournament over pronouns" fiasco. The TL;DR is basically what we already know but ends with the kid getting reimbursed via a GoFundMe page.

Meanwhile, someone on 4chan did some digging and discovered the offended judge's Twitter account.
And lo and behold, it's a they/them enbie chucklefuck with trans flags in their bio. Clown World's starting piss me off something fierce. Sadly, the judge protected their account so I can't see any of their posts.

EDIT: It appears that, according to this tweet, the above account in question doesn’t belong to the offending judge but rather the event’s stream lead. Said tweet chain mention might mention the judge’s name in question but the responding account has protected their Tweets.

I've always viewed Niantic as a geolocation data-harvesting company who collects said sellable data via a gaming apps so this is a bit of a nothingburger for me.

Also, if you want to have a bit of fun try to convince said angry players to do an in-person protest at Niantic's headquarters.

a very mild trans joke
because of course

(tried finding a picture of the actual joke in-game, but I can't pinpoint it. Will edit it in if I do find the raw dialogue)

As a member, i can confirm we're always making troon jokes behind the scenes. Sometimes Professor Oak joins to tell us how many troons went 41% after he asked them whether they are a boy or a girl.

But who's his fucking dad? What a cop-out, fucking liars.

Whos that pokemon.jpg

@PipTheAlchemist Yes.

I caught a shiny Gyarados back in HGSS. It's literally the least valuable shiny you can own.
yeah well fuck you

also sure, you can catch shiny gyarados in hgss, but it's not a shiny magikarp. get fucking rekt. :smug:

ANYWAY, so the current samurott raid in sv... i tried fighting it in a group a few times, but, as usual, my pokemon are shit. however, i did see a solo strategy that seemed doable, involving koraidon.

fortunately the koraidon i caught had the correct nature. i also had more than enough money to buy whatever vitamins i needed and i had enough bottlecaps to hypertrain the rest of its ivs, then i leveled it up with a bunch of rare candies. this basically turned the fight into a joke, although i wish i had a better option than screech for lowering defense, since its accuracy is fucking 85%. that being said, prepare to die a lot, because your only attacking move is flare blitz. i was lucky that one of the AI had an arboliva because its default ability is called seed sower, which summons grassy terrain if it's hit with a damaging move, so i was getting some passive healing from that.

I recently went to check the second-hand prices for cards from the newest Pokémon TCG set, Scarlet & Violet, on TCGPlayer and I haven’t seen prices this low in a good long while.

The highest-valued card there is only around $60-$80 USD, that’s insane when the most-recent SWSH-era set had its highest-valued cards in the triple-digits.

As to why this is happening it’s largely due to pull rates and the new pack structure, depending on the products they’re much fairer that they were in past sets and shifting ALL alternate arts to one of the reverse-holo sets is making things much more bearable.

Oh, and I’m hearing reports of hype beasts being scared away from the TCG in general after seeing box breaks and whatnot. It’s a good day to be a player and/or collector.

So, a new Pokémon (forme) got released.

I say that is a pre-evolution of Tierrapagos, though there is talk abou this being a depowered forme.
(Th is going in my hack either way, though I am really starting to feel the pinc, here.)

he cute

Anyway, let's post our unpopular opinions regarding the series' human characters. I'll start by saying that Team Plasma fucking BLOWS.
(spoilered, autistic rant warning)
First of all, there's the whole premise: "trainer battles are bad therefore we must liberate all pokemon from their trainers". On one hand, it's a seemingly good motivation and raises some questions regarding the Pokemon universe's morality. But on the other hand, it's applying real-life sensibilities to a fictional universe, so like, who the fuck cares? The kids aren't gonna go out and try to make their cats or dogs fight IRL, so what's the point of even trying to say that Pokémon fights may or may not be that good?
And then this premise is taken out back and shot in the head by the reveal that Team Plasma is nothing but a front for Ghetsis to take over Unova. So this renders all of the moral questions one might have irrelevant, because the answer is "lol doesn't matter, Ghetsis is evil therefore Plasma wrong". But then there's also the explanation that Pokémon actually enjoy fighting, which retroactively renders Team Plasma's motivation fucking stupid anyway.
Then we get to the characters representing Plasma, starting with N. He's too preachy at times, but the real problem is the whole Jesus allegory the game keeps trying to push. Logically speaking, he shouldn't have even gotten either Reshiram or Zekrom, since he is operating under an objectively and blatantly false premise, even though he might have good intentions, and therefore they should have been able to see right through him. Other than that, he's okay, I don't really have much else to say about him.
The sages are barely there. On one hand, it makes sense since they're just the leadership and not Plasma's acting forces. On the other hand, it sometimes feels like they could have just been removed and not much would really change. At least Zonzolin and Bronius do shit in the sequels.
The same goes for the two sisters that helped raise N, but it hurts more in this instance, since it feels like they actually could be interesting characters, but they just... don't do anything of note at all, except give you some background info on N.
The Shadow Triad are just... there. The only noteworthy thing they do is in the sequels, where they stall the player so Ghetsis can get the DNA splicers.
Then we get to Ghetsis, who I unironically think is the worst part of Plasma, and here's why:
- First of all, it's blatantly clear he's the main villain from the moment you first see him. But you have to wait until the very end for his paper-thin disguise to drop, leaving you to deal with his preachy faggot son for most of the game.
- Second of all, he has an incredibly stupid plan. Raising your son in isolation to be a puppet king that wholeheartedly believes whatever you say? Good, smart. Letting your son free to roam Unova without supervision so he can see firsthand things that directly contradict his beliefs and render them wrong entirely? Fucking retarded. It's a miracle that N took so long to catch on.
He *does* get better in the sequels, as does Team Plasma, but then they're just turned into "Team Rocket... but with an airship!"
Lasttly, there's Colress, the best member of Team Plasma. I have nothing bad to say about him, except that it sort of feels like the writers only remembered that he's supposed to be a bad guy towards the end, with his little speech about being okay with Plasma freezing all of Unova.

I don't like the fact that they exist in any significant capacity at all
The only tolerable evil teams are Skull (for one playthrough), Gen 1 Rocket (because they're a side attraction instead of the main focus), and Aqua/Magma (so bad they're good)
Every other one is shit
Plasma was the closest to being genuinely good but kind of shot itself in the foot due to the setting and tone of the series (if it was pg-13 and not as mainstream I feel they could've gotten away with much more, but by that point Pokémon was a massive multimedia juggernaut and they probably knew they couldn't take too many risks) as well as the whole shitty twist near the end (still makes sense, but it undermines a lot of the moral ambiguity that was supposed to be a lot of the point)
Not a single companion is likeable, most rivals are dogshit (Gen 5's are good after the slow start and Blue is alright but the others suck), gym leaders/champions are nonentities as are admins

The fact that the series has started focusing more on the characters than the mons is a tragedy (even though I know it's for easy merch sales), especially when combined with the increased focus on story, and I will forever curse the retards drooling over people like the fucking Subway twins or Cynthia for the increased focus

(in regards to the not-Terapagos: I think it's a little bit overdesigned (really really doesn't need all those bangles AND the stars on the knees, they should've gone for one or the other) but otherwise kind of inoffensive. A bit of a welcome change from how disgustingly bad the gen 9 dex is, but nothing really spectacular)

looks like straight outta the popular groomer franchise " my little turtle - autism is magic"
When Genwunner said Gen 5 pokemon dont look like pokemon, they didn't knew what was awaiting them down the road of mediocracy.

I want to meet the head programmer for tera raids, I then want to break his fingers. In theory I wouldn't mind them being used to fuel all the other activities in-game but they're so ridiculously jank and buggy I can't tolerate them for long. I'd much rather hack in 999 herba mystica and be done with them.

Let's not get into shoving Walking Wake behind a raid instead of it being a roaming legendary in an open world game. What a waste.

This is why I can't get get behind all the praise that BW's plots gets, it feels like the writers saw a Dorkly bit and had to base the story around it.
This could've worked in Gen 1 but by the time Gen 5 arrived Pokemon established way too hard how important battles are and that there's nothing wrong with it in this universe. N just feels like such a waste because he is so obviously in the wrong but constantly dumps his preachy dialogue on the brickwall of a player character anyway.
At least Plasma has a banger battle theme.

Damn, I was focused on filling up my Pokedex in Scarlet and I missed out on getting Typhlosion. But I’m being brutally honest the past few 7-star raids have been skippable for me, I think the last one I did was either Cinderace or Greninja.

Oh, and the Pokémon TCG scene has been roiling over a major theft that occurred at one of the TCG’s printing plants back in 2021 involving one set’s Secret Rares. Here’s the pic that’s going around social media that shows said thief trying to sell these ill-gotten cards at an LGS. There’s another photo floating around showing someone with two stacks of the two most-expensive Alternate Art cards (and one partially-hidden stack showing a Hyper Rare) from the set prior but people are suspecting that one’s either fake or consisting of cards rejected during the QC phase of printing.
IMG_1979.jpeg
The store that this guy tried to sell to posted a response after the pic went viral, it basically said that they reported this to TPCi when the guy tried to sell the cards and TPCi launched an investigation into the theft and the store was asked to keep quiet about it until said investigation was over.
IMG_1982.jpeg
Meanwhile, sites like Pokébeach and YouTubers like RattlePokémon are reporting on it but mentioning that it had little-to-no effect on pulls from those specific sets. If you ask me I think they’re full of shit in regards to this having no effect on pull rates, especially when RattlePokemon is known to be friends with Gary Haase AKA Gary “King Pokemon“.
