Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Anyone tried playing Infinite Fusion? I'm absolutely loving it. Some of the fusions are perfectly atrocious, but then there are tons that are just incredible.

Anything Mr.Mime is cursed anything Duskull is crazy good.

I have. Haven't gone past the grass type gym yet.

Team Plasma is the best Mainline Pokemon evil teams will ever get.
You've got a halfway decent plotline that doesn't get annoying while replaying gen 5, a boss that puts up a cynthia tier fight and some variety in the goons pokemon. The sages are important because they are so mysterious. When i first played black, i always thought you'll fight em at some point and when the gym leaders showed up to take them on it was kinda badass.

Guzma is best boss because he's hard to beat, has some funny punchlines and is just a giant street thug leader, no fancy anime villain with a plan as dumb as unrealistic. Aether was predictable and annoying because of the family drama textbox spam but lusamine is a unique "boss", plus the cooperation with skull was at least something new.

Giovanni is just there and Cyrus is terrifiying because he never reveals his motives like lyssandre did, he is the terminator kind of enemy that just moves forward without a reason and you have to stop him or else.
The rest is trash.
If youre looking for a good villain in Pokemon, Dusknoir from Mystery Dungeon 2 is what possibly comes closest.

Team Plasma was never meant to be deep commentary on the series and I think people going in to BW’s plot expecting them to be will get disappointed. Their whole purpose was to create a cult and manipulate people into releasing their Pokemon so they could take over without resistance.

Also Hugh is a great rival who gets a lot of unfair hate for the Purrloin plot. The Pokemon belonged to his sister and was a gift from their dead grand father so of course he’s going to be pissed. He even clearly explains to one of the Sages why he is after a specific Purrloin. I’ve seen people say he should have just caught his sister another Purrloin since it’s a common Pokemon and she wouldn’t tell the difference. Because we all know the solution to a pet going missing is to replace it with a look alike behind a child’s back and pretend it’s the same animal. Pokemon fans lack both reading comprehension skills and empathy.

Team Skull is the best because it’s just a bunch of directionless shit-kid teenagers being obnoxious and destructive. For a series that starts with organized crime and has fine up to genocide, it was fun and refreshing.

Fuck it, I'll say it - I didn't mind Team Yell. Did they have any bearing on the actual plot of Gen 8, no none whatsoever, but considering Gen 8 was basically "Pokemon treated as Football", the Obligatory Evil Team just being Football Hooligans was a nice change. Shame they were basically there to simp for an underage girl. Same deal with Team Skull - they were just a random gang, but Guzma was the MVP.

After 6 Gens of escalation of the Evil Teams, I'm happy with them being more toned down for a bit.

More information regarding the factory-level TCG theft, an official statement from TPCi in this case, has just come out but I wonder if this is better off in A&H rather than here considering that the update (and an article Monday) was posted by Kotaku.

Here's the text from Pokebeach's article...
TPCi has provided a statement to our good friends at ComicBook.com conveying that no products were impacted by the factory theft that recently came to light.

“We take the protection of our IP and associated products very seriously. This matter remains under investigation and we cannot comment on details at this time. However, we can confirm that Sword & Shield booster packs and products were shipped to retail as intended and we have no indication that the integrity of the products were impacted by any confirmed or unconfirmed theft. Furthermore, we continue to significantly invest in both the production and security of our TCG business. We value the faith our fans put in us and our products, and these investments are intended to help us continue to maintain their trust.”

The company does not confirm or deny that any theft took place, likely because there is ongoing litigation.

As explained in our first news story, it would be difficult for booster packs to be compromised at the factory due to various checks and balances in place. This includes pack weighing and the way machines load different boxes of rarities into the booster packs.
The cards seem to haven been stolen during the production phase when they’re stored in boxes (the secret rares are printed separately from other cards because of their texture). The secret rares are printed on large sheets, cut into individual cards, and stored in long white boxes. At least five of those white boxes are packed into a cardboard box that’s sent off to machines that sort the cards into booster packs. The machine loads different boxes of cards into each booster pack depending on their rarity. We imagine the sorting machines alert the workers when they’re running low on certain rarities, meaning packs shouldn’t have escaped the factory without the proper rate of secret rares. Otherwise it would be common for packs to be missing cards.

The factories also weigh every single booster pack. This not only ensures the packs have the proper amount of cards in them, but it’s also so they know what code card to insert into the packs. Secret rares are heavier than a normal card, so lighter code cards are put into the packs to cancel out the weight difference. (This prevents pack weighing on the aftermarket.) So it’s unlikely packs with improper weights would have left the factory floor, let alone on a scale large enough to impact the entire print run. There’s multiple checks and balances in place.

And yes, Fusion Strike just had bad pull rates — as the following data from our friends at TCGplayer shows. Luckily we’re seeing better pull rates in Scarlet & Violet:

Again, I'd take the the whole "this theft did not impact of the integrity of the products" even if it's from the horse's mouth considering that the horse in question is an American branch of a Japanese company.

Fixed Incineroar? How about replacing Incineroar entirely?

On one hand I disagree, as although I didn't like it a first, Incineroar quickly grew on me and is a personal favorite.

On the other hand, I like the idea of a manticore Pokemon, and that is an awesome design.

I've been going through it off and on for the past week, but the grind keeps me in that "I should really be doing something else" mood, so I only just made it to Vermillion City. A lot of my time is being spent looking at what I have in my boxes and checking the calculator to see which fusions are going to help with the gym fights, but it probably doesn't help that I'm going in completely blind to what the gym leader's fusions are going to be. Having to strategize for a lot of unknowns is definitely a massive challenge, on top of the gym leader battles having a set limit on how many Pokemon you can throw at them. If it wasn't for the massive experience grind, I would say it's easily the best fan game I've played.

here's a proper image that non-ants can also view
Yes; sorry. I needed to put in more work rather than just letting Twitter ezise the image.

Either way, my hacks are going to be called 'Hessonite Scarlet' and 'Sugilite Violet', befitting how a lot of games are named after precious matter. I wanted gemstones that had names that had the feeling of adjectives while not being very long. Moreover, actual hessonite ranges from red t orange, which fits how the school in Scarlet is literally called 'Orange' in Spanish.
I am wondering on changing Dive with Return and having another move be switched to Frustration, since they gave the Friendship value a lot of meaning... especially since Annihilape i still going to evolve through low friendship. I feel that Larry would give out Frustration.

Re-adding the friendship moves would be great, especially with Return the removal is baffling.
I feel like Larry could keep Facade though, I liked that line he has where he says something along the lines of "Kids don't need to put up a facade" or something like that.

Larry said that facade was the "move of the working adult".
