Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

It doesn't even feel like a JRPG anymore, it's difficult to even differentiate this from other monster collecting games now that are made by fans who grew up with Pokemon. It's lost its identity, but that's been while in the making.

Sonic and Pokemon have both disappointed me today, but it's my fault for having any optimism.
The series has more or less stayed the same ever since Red & Blue came out, and I don't expect Scarlet & Violet to be particularly challenging, either.

I don't really mean the challenge level, more how it looks. Someone said Toby Fox is composing for it too. If I wanted some zoomer white kid's indie game I'd play one.

I'm not a fan of the Scarlet box legendary because of the weird ass wheel protruding from its throat. The Violet legendary is a little better in my opinion as its neck is just craned back and then forth kinda like a swan but it's still strange looking. As for the rest, I don't hate the designs. I genuinely like Lechonk though. It reminds me of Legend of Zelda: Windwaker's pigs. I just hope it evolves into a quadrupedal boar.

Honestly, 0 interest there. Looks like it has all the same problems as all other pokemon games on the switch, low quality textures, soulless humans, uninspired monster design, and so many aides and guides that you will pray for navi to come back and wont struggle with a single gym or trainer.

All I want is crystal with gen 3 or 4 graphics or a new colloseum, is that so hard?
Please, for the love of God, let us turn off the exp. share this time...
Nah now they'll force rare candies on all your pokemon every 3 levels.
I kind of assumed that it was an item that only worked on one of your critters?
Nope. EXP shares started affecting all your Pokémon in gen 6 and is forced on in every single switch game. It's really stupid, it not only makes EV training a royal PITA but also means you are overleveled AF by the second gym.

It used to be that way, but since Sword and Shield it gives all pokemon in your party exp after a battle. You have it from the start of the game and it can't be turned off. This results in your party becoming overleveled very early and the entire game is a cake walk. Even if you actively try to make it difficult by rotating in pokemon with bad stats and typings, you will breeze through everything.

I get that its a kids game and its meant to be easy, but give them some credit, most had no problem beating red and blue back in the day. The removal of even the option of a challenge makes the whole experience very dull for us autistic manchildren who still play it also.

Looking more at the new mons, Lechonk is literally just Swinub again, you wouldn't need Dexit if you don't do shit like this, Gamefreak. And the Olive Pokemon looks Bidew or whatever that corn kernel guy from Arceus was. Their designs are both fine but very repetitive. Hate the legendaries but then I have from Gen 2 onwards.

Oh, I stopped playing the series right before the Switch games on account of how easy the games already was.

But with this, I probably would have been pissed if I actually brought Sword & Shield

Children cannot be challenged in any way, they must be coddled 100% of the time or they may have to actually exert some effort or find out they're not good at something, and thats literal murder.

Those changed the gameplay too though, so it's not strictly what he wants but close enough.

I just want Crystal with online support for NSO.
Yeah and I want Nintendo to re-release Pokemon Stadium 1 + 2 for the Switch/STEAM with online support but I doubt either of our ideas seem enticing, or practical to Miyamoto/GameFreak/Whoever the fuck runs the show. For a thread with a near non-stop stream of doom and gloomposting how Pokemon has been ruined forever, people here still want The proven-incompetent Pokemon Company to give them their hopes & desires packaged within a video game. I honestly don't get it.

I'm pretty sure Crystal was on 3DS with at least local wireless play, shouldn't be much of an ask for it on NSO with its standard online features, especially now that 3DS eShop is going down.

Stadium seems to be something they're reluctant with, not sure why beyond "it's not impressive anymore". News flash, most old games aren't anymore so that's a dumb reason. They don't mind releasing other old Pokemon games. It's not like the N64 library is very big, and a lot of it has licensing issues, so they should be happy to put Stadium out.

For what it's worth, the EXP Share being permanently on is only a thing in Let's Go, SWSH, and BDSP.

Let's face it, early Pokemon games had a fucktarded difficulty curve (especially Gen 2), so I kind of get why they've been making the games easier, and shit, but they really are overcompensating for it nowadays.

I'm fine with the EXP Share being a thing since I've never really cared about Pokemon being particularly challenging, or anything, but I do think having no way to turn it off is stupid, and a step too far.

Gen 2 just had a really stupid wild pokemon encounter level table and I can pin that a lot on the shape of the region - while it's nice to be wide open, that meant they had to balance it around someone heading right from Jasmine to Pryce. So a massive middle chunk of the game had pokemon hovering around those early levels - if you didn't know real early on what you wanted then it was hell catching up.

Then you have the disaster that's the Kanto encounter table - if I recall correctly, the only areas where you had pokemon in their 40s was the Mt. Silver area. And Red's team is all in the 70's.

Gen 3 onwards is where it started to get better, but I still feel like Gen 5 had the best level balance. Audino being so prevalent in that game sure helped there, but that generation had the best ability of keeping pokemon at the right levels.
