Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

There were so many great things PLA did that it honest to god gave me hope for the franchise again. The engine was good, the mechanics were good, the QoL changes were good, the battle system overhaul was frankly overdue, I outright said that this should be the future Pokemon should strive for. Modders have even begun tearing the walls down between the different regions of the game and finding out that the engine can support much more play space than what's actually in the game. Then you look at SV and can't help but wonder "what the fuck happened?"
Any good PLA mods you can recommend? I skipped it when it came out and kinda want to try it on emulator.

Finally finished getting a full shiny team of cats. I will never understand people who full odds shiny breed. GMeowth took like 400 + another 200 where I accidentally popped shiny KMeowth in a batch of 30, Sprigatito took only about 100 luckily all using Masuda. 1/512 is already tedious enough, absolutely fucking forget about 1/4000.

I haven't tried any myself, I'm too chickenshit to try and crack my first run Switch. I have heard there are some good QoL ones out there, like a mod that lets Ursaluna run full tilt at any time without it sniffing out an item. Last I heard, the modder that discovered that the engine could support more than Hisui in its entirety is currently trying to port other regions into the game as new places to travel.

Awesome, do you have a link to this stuff?

I think making them actually rare is better though. Someone having a full team of legit shinies should be like hitting the lottery or require autistic dedication.

I think they should make a Shiny Mint. You can only buy it after you have the Shiny Charm and have caught 1 Shiny and it would cost like several million if not the full amount you can carry.

Or they could be more elaborate with it. Certain Pokemon would have higher rates during certain times, on certain days, under certain circumstances.

Like an easy example could be Delibird. On Christmas morning he has a thematic rate of 1/25 if you're carrying a special item or something. It'd be a lot of work for the team but could make shiny hunting more engaging and still keep them rare.

Yeah. That would work too.

See I’m all for the idea of needing to put in autistic levels of time for Shines. I just think there should be multiple avenues to put that autism into that could yield the shinies.

I mean they take note of Birthdays etc. So setting up Events on certain days is totally something they could do. Especially now they have Raids. Add them in as Limited Events while supporting the game and permanantly add them in when finished, like they did with GMax Snorlax.

It's worth noting they're added several other autismo mechanics in that shinies becoming easier are probably meant to offset. Like Marks and Size Variance.

Getting a Shiny with a Title (let alone a good one), a chonker shiny, or a mini shiny, or a three-segment shiny are all ways to flex your hunting skills.

Wait, have people actually modded the 3D era games now?
Eeyup. People apparently modded quite a bit of Sword and Shield and plenty of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. They are in the process of Scarlet and Violet.

I would rather do a demake this way, though:
I think I can work my way around the Pokecrystal decompilation...

i desperately wish i had the money for 1) a second modding-intended switch and 2) knowledge of how to 3d model.
i want to fix sordward and shielbert. to cure their mental illness

Putting down a sort of reduced Pokédex, I remembered @Kari Kamiya's comment here:
An Ancient Jigglypuff, and yet no Ancient Alakazam or Ancient Gengar? Jigglybros are eating good.

I am not doing anything concrete with my idea yet, but my new Paldean Pokédex would have an Cient Alakazam and an Cient Gengar.
However, that would mean tha the number of Ancient and Future Pokémon would be unbalanced.
What would make good Future Pokémon? I prefer those that are the last stages of 3-stage evolutions.
