Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I've been thinking, this game is getting a lot of things backwards.

First point, so remember how they advertised how Sun and Moon have a 12 hour difference? I went ahead and gave a brisk "Fuck you" to that by simply setting my 3DS clock 12 hours. So hah! I'm playing my Pokemon Moon at night and it is night in game. I work during the day until 10PM. Like hell I'm dealing with this time warp.

So second, I kinda find it annoying that everything is basically one straight line, and that there are indications and NPCs everywhere telling you where to go.

Third, all of the Alolan Pokemon are backwards. Rattatta, Diglett, both of which got late reveals. Why so common now? Where are the Sandshrews and Exeggutors?

Fourth, remember how Il Ima told me how impressed he was that "I didn't use my Z Power!" and how I felt he'll later be impressed how I'd never ever use it? Guess what, of course, the game forces me to use it to remove Sudowoodo blocking the path. And, of course, every NPC is oohing and aahing over my Z-Crystals and acts so eager to see it get used in battle. Its like.... SHUT UP! This is a total waste of my game playing time. There's nothing wrong with "Swords Dance x3 + Wipe out" or whatever. "Mega" Evolutions was one of my biggest gripes with Gen 6 and I'm certainly not gonna dabble with the move equivalent in this generation.

Fifth, while I expect "Mega" Evolutions to end up making their appearances in this game, I'm so fucking glad to see their stupid arrogant asses staying away from my presence. I seriously hate "Mega" Evolution on a similar level to how Chris hated Sonic's Blue Arms. It was a waste, a letdown, had a system that looked like it was designed by a Five year old (triggered by stones called "Pokemon name-Ite" HOW INCREDIBLE FUCKING GOLDEN A++++ ORIGINAL!), meant for no more exciting, actual evolutions of old Pokemon and each and every victim of "Mega" Evolution were simply buffed up with new appendages and parts. And you will never see me not use quotations whenever I talk about "Mega" Evolution because this is an incorrect use of that term. When I think of Mega, I think of Megazords, Mega Man. What do they have in common? Combining. Combining different things together, like different Zords, or switching different power ups in Mega Man's case. And by this I do not mean the Pokemon combining with "Pokemon Name-Ite" Every single one of those things must look the same.

I like both Megas and Z-moves, despite some balancing flaws from both.

Megas helped breath life into some Pokemon. After the very mixed reception of many of the 4th gen evolutions to older Pokemon, Megas are a way to significantly buff a pre-existing Pokemon without changing them forever. The once per battle limit also adds a new dimension to team building and, for the Pokemon that are still usable without their megas(or have multiple megas like Charizard), mind games can be played with your opponent.

Z-moves also add a new dimension, though not in the way gamefreak probably intended. Z-moves are most commonly used for status moves, since they all get new effects added on top of their pre-existing ones. Offensive Z-moves usually aren't worth using over Choice items or Life Orb, so they seem to most commonly be used with attacks that either have bad accuracy(Focus Blast, Stone Edge, ect) or a major downside(Overheat, Explosion, ect) to get a reliable hit off before resorting to having to use the base move.

Once you unlock megas in the postgame, you can use one of each per battle, once again adding more depth to team building overall. I will admit both have their flaws and potential abuse, but overall they help keep the game fresh.

That's not so backwards, Ratatta was always common as dirt in Pokemon.

You can switch which side of the day/night cycle you're on in the postgame without touching the 3DS clock. Regardless, it barely affects anything anyway.

I got my Wi-Fi figured out and started exploring the Trading system, got a bunch of random Pokemon in Wonder Trade, most notably a Grimer that was on par with the rest of my team by level, so I'll train it up.

I went seeking for my Vulpix, but everyone was offering for weird things like the UBs, Silvally, Solgaleo, Lunala, things I obviously do not have. Same was true for Popplio.

In the end, I took that Shiny Lillipup and offered it up for my Vulpix. Yeah, unfair trade, how I got rid of a Shiny like that, but I wanted my Vulpix as soon as possible.

I've been hunting for Dittos with 6IV through chaining, and in so doing, I got two shiny Dittos with 4IV and one HA Ditto with 3IV. I'd really like to trade one of the shinies for a Ditto with 5IV from a different region.

You would think that people would want Mareanie, which is why I bred a dozen of them. This is taking even longer than trying to swap a Pheromosa for a Buzzwole, which is surprising.

Honestly, the only things about Sun and Moon that have disappointed me are how very little it feels like there is to do in the post-game (which may be alleviated somewhat once the Bank is updated), as well as the fact that there isn't a National Pokedex (which they seem to be trying to move to the Bank).

I got a level 1 Mareanie on Wonder Trade. I'm not interested in this though, might send it back, but I don't really like how random Wonder Trade is. So far, the best I've gotten was that Grimer I mentioned earlier.

And so I have an Oranguru on GTS in hopes of swiping it for a Goomy. With my Moon version, I better use Moon exclusives for any Pokemon I want, whether its in Moon, Sun, or any previous Generation.

My Vulpix is awesome too. Female, was level 1, and within a few hours it was at 33.

I had an 88-chain of Ditto going, and the last one had Imposter and used my Primarina's Sparking Aria, which killed the original Ditto - this was after I decided to use Hydro Cannon to try and make the called Ditto faint.

Sadly, from what I've read, 4 is as high as it'll go on chains. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.

On the one hand, I have mixed feelings about the more, eh...plot-heavyish? type of storytelling. Like having blockades to keep you from going to certain routes before you're ready (via HM moves, or Sudowoodo, or people who won't let you past without the Gym badge) has always been a staple of the series, but forcing me through multiple cutscenes is not something I'm really big on when I want to go catch more Pokemon/explore the islands in general.

...that being said, I still like Moon's Pokedex and setting WAY more than the PokeFrance of X, so, at least I'm still enjoying it. The GTS is fucking nightmarish though with all the people demanding shinies and high-level legendaries in exchange for common fodder.

The highest you are guaranteed to get is 4IVs when doing a chain. However, you can keep rolling dice on the two non-guaranteed IVs to potentially get a 5IV pokemon. While you might be able to naturally catch a 6IV pokemon, you're probably better off just taking two 5 or 4 IV pokemon and breeding them to get a 6IV male to use as breeding stock.

Also, keep in mind that after 250 encounters the SOS chain resets for both IVs and shiny chances. For comparison, you need to get to 40 encounters for 4IVs and hidden abilities.

I've gotten a 4IV one with an ALMOST perfect fifth.

I'm waiting for my team of slave-cats to find me one of the items I need to breed more efficiently, but 'till then I'll keep going.

Does anyone have an effective prism scale farming method pinned down?

Funny thing, my second Ditto had a 30IV in special attack, while HP, defense, special defense, and speed were all 31. The attack IV is also not too bad.

It seems the best method is to use Pick Up to find one, but I've heard you can fish special spots for it.

I knew about the fishing, but I'd forgotten about pickup. One more use for the slave cats, huzzah!

Dragon scales though...
