I disagree, we have plenty of examples in the past few years. Concord, Morbius, most recently Civ 7...

SwSh would have sold well regardless because they were the first Pokemon games on the Switch.
The only consumers of Pokemon games on the Switch are Switch owners, they are pretty much guaranteed sales since they're exclusives from a well known brand. I said this a few pages back, but I think those posts might have been buried under someone crying I hurt their feelings or whatever
You can tell calling him a Redditor really got under his skin. He also, intentionally or otherwise, no longer understands the very argument he was part of. Especially when he later reiterated almost my exact point:

With the caveat that that money is largely from people who foresaw the negative direction the series was headed.
You still haven't offered any proof or receipts of real fans being the driving force behind SwSh and SV successes, and frankly you're not going to deliver on them since you're a disingenuous redditor with the way you "argue". If that word triggers you, not my problem, that's the closest analogue I have and it works, considering the last few pages of this thread. What you're doing might work on the casuals/tourists in this thread, but it won't work on me, and since there is nothing more to discuss the conversation centered how many people got triggered at my(truthful, not debunked) posts. That's not a serious conversation, so there is no reason to engage with (You) or anyone else related to it, no need to waste time on easily triggered idiots. I look forward to you still not offering anything to back up your retarded argument and yet still getting pissy I broke your heart 5 pages from now, considering the quality of this thread and people within it. I just discovered that 8moe has their own /vp/ now, so if I want a serious discussion about this franchise it might be better to just go there instead. Somehow I doubt one post I make will lead to 75% of the thread losing their shit, especially when I am right.
LGPE came out a year earlier.
Goes to show you just how unpopular these games were, and the future of ZA if your average consumer doesn't even remember LegPiss(and how embarrassing it was). It still sold BTW, which goes to show you that all you need is the brand name on the box.
Mainline, I mean. The first Pokemon game on the DS was Dash but no one colloquially refers to that as the first DS Pokemon game, they reserve that for D/P.
LGPE IS mainline. It is the last Gen 7 game, according to "official" sources. Once again, these categorizations are fucking useless.

the people actually buying the games (many of whom were the most vocal about Dexit) didn’t actually care. You can bitch all you want, but the only ballots that matter come from a gun or a wallet.
The problem is when something doesn't have everything that you want, but it still has most of what you want.
If you abstain from buying it, then you get none of what you want, and you still wanted that stuff.
I think that people would have to miss out on a lot more before they considered boycotting.

It will be a disappointment, but no one will care and will just buy the next game when it comes out because that's how the pattern has always been.
I'm getting pretty tired of this Eeyore shit. "Everything is terrible, it will always be terrible, there's no hope, blah blah blah." Why even get out of bed in the morning?

Are any of the current (Switch) Pokemon games worth picking up these days?
Whether they're "worth it" depends on what you like.

Sword & Shield look and feel the most like older generations of Pokémon games. They're kind of short, though, not making anywhere near the most of their ideas, and the world feels underutilized. What's there is still nice. Worth getting used or on sale, I'd say.

Scarlet & Violet are weird. They feel sloppy and stripped-down in a lot of areas, but feel just fine or even great in others. Getting to (mostly) set your own direction while exploring is a hoot, and finding rare things can make it really feel like an adventure, but it's up to you whether you think that's worth putting up with the ugliness.
Also, I haven't finished them yet, so if they fall apart by the end, I don't know.

Legends: Arceus gets a ton of praise, but I've never played it, so I can't say. I know that the gameplay loop and the in-game mechanics are different from other games, so maybe look up a tutorial or a review video on YouTube.

I genuinely don't see what Sword and Shield has that other games don't. That's the thing, people treat it and SV like they're some flawed gems, but they aren't. SwSh is another shitty corridor simulator like Sun/Moon but with an even worse story and characters, less Pokemon, no Mega Evolution, No Z moves, even easier gameplay and it's debatable if even the graphics are better if they don't do anything with the Switch's hardware(N64 tree, anyone?).

What did we get in return? An open world with about the same LOD as the 3DS games. A shittier take on Megas. A few new Pokemon, most of which are awful. Several new characters people very much fetishize, one of which is a little boy. A unique competitive season, but I guess talking about that here is a waste of time, and of course, paid DLC. Unless you are very weak willed and you HAVE to buy buy buy the next product no matter what, I don't think you will "cave" unless you already had a Switch. I don't, I never bought one, I have no plans to buy one, and I don't even feel like emulating it to play the game. The game was sold to you the moment it came out if you have a Switch, otherwise I doubt it moved many units, except for those who were already on the fence about buying a Switch. This is why I say that fans of the franchise, and I mean actual fans, not tourists, especially if they were serious about Dexit, didn't lose out on much and they especially didn't miss anything with SV.

I still stand by my statement, if you played these games, especially by buying them and DLC for real money instead of emulating them, you're not a real fan. You don't spend over a hundred dollars to get an inferior experience that you had on handhelds from people that openly spit on your face before release, this is battered wife behavior. You should seek a psychiatrist or at least spend your money more responsibly. Real fans went right back to playing older titles, playing Romhacks, playing Showdown or so many other things, once they got tired of mocking those two pieces of shit. Same deal with LGPE, which is apparently a "mainline title" too despite nobody remembering it exists. Just because you liked game X or Y doesn't mean it wasn't a piece of shit at the end of the day, I think this is the biggest coping factor here.

In the end, slapfighting over the definition of a "real fan" (BTW @30+GameOvers check out the no true Scotsman fallacy) doesn't even matter because money is money regardless of whose wallet it came from, and SwSh sold like hotcakes.

Did anyone tell you that the photo is of an apple?

I guess these mock-ups are mostly accurate, then
As I mentioned before, I like the selection. More than half of these Pokémon are in my top 100, and those that aren’t either have interesting mega designs or would otherwise benefit from the mechanic

I don’t really care lol. After seeing what they did to Victreebel, a top 20 of mine for over a year and still a top 100 for me today, I have full confidence that they’ll somehow manage to fuck up something as cool-looking as Barbaracle or Eelektross’ prospective designs. It will be an extremely impressive feat, fumbling design concepts such as “electric lamprey with MOUTHS FOR ARMS” and “Barnacle-man hydra with giant arms acting as a goddamn cape collar” but after these two official reveals and all of gen 9’s dex I have full confidence that they’ll look disastrous

At this point I’m kind of just waiting on Clefable and Emboar. Those two are very close to my heart and their Megas look positively atrocious. I just want to get their reveals over with and be done caring about Pokémon earlier than gen 10 already

I like him LMAO.

Look at his Liver Lips and for once the model is incredibly animated because he's always smiling or doing something.

One of the better things about the Legends series is that they are finally forcing creatures Inc to update a lot of the older models like they said they would 4 years ago.

It’s using the original XY model, and the Mega is animated poorly in the trailer. For half the fucking thing you can see the model moving forward in mid-air. They couldn’t even be bothered to take 5 seconds to make it hit the ground before moving first
None of this is updated work.
