Excluding Kanto being in the 2nd gen games because I feel like that's the cop-out answer, I think the most comprehensive post games that exist are in the 3rd gen Pokémon games. The Emerald Battle Frontier is amazing, and better than Platinum's IMO, and the amount of stuff they added with the Sevii Islands in FRLG is impressive.
You can't just win by picking up any meta team and jumping into randoms. An even semi-competent player who understands the numbers side can beat a newbie running a meta team of all Legendaries with mons like Zigzagoon and Weedle.
If this is all you think high level competitive Pokémon battling is you clearly don't understand how any of it works. It's so, so much more complicated than "Paper beats Rock". The math involved in what EVs and IVs to choose for each individual team member to counter very specific Pokémon with specific natures alone gets to extremely autistic rabbit hole levels of depth. No, same shit. Comparing boxers to competitive pokemon players is all you need to do to see how dumb and shallow it is. Knowing a basic type chart and looking up the meta is enough to be competitive in pokemon battling.
.....
One of these is impressive, the others the Smash crowd wanting to pretend they're hot shit because they know to use ice beam on dragonite or surf on charizard.
