I like sticker reactions. I use them as a sort of minireply. I don't see Disagree as a neg rate, just someone sparring the forum a needless post to tell me they think I'm wrong.

Ratings are totally gay though. I'd say ban every Redditor that complains about theirs, but that cancer might already be too large to execise with out killing the site.

Yeah the users who like the reaction score system and the ones that liked the usefulness of sticker notifications are two different groups that have some overlap. Neither parties are getting anything they would like though, unless Null changes his mind at some point.

How to use the site without reaction notifications?​

If we are solely talking about the notifications issue, the watched thread wall gives me no indication of many posts were made since I left. I follow 30+ threads, I am not going to open all 30 of them to see if there has been only 1 post since I left or 10+. If you're going to do away with the sticker notifications at least make the watched threads page more intuitive with some kinda of post counter so I can see which ones are busier than others as the current notifications is useless since the sticker method is gone.

I will also add that the colors of the stickers were useful in the notifications bar. The "billbob24 quoted your post" looks the same as "010100110 replied to the Rekieta thread" if I am just glancing at my notifications, as most people do. Having a different color for when someone quoted you would be useful. Expecting me to deeply read all my notifications is unreasonable as that function is meant to be intuitive and save time.

If you want to get mad and remove the internet karma, fine, but you have to realize it also helped with site navigation & usability for many users. Yanking it out without a good replacement for that usability is cutting off your nose to spite your face. Your intelligent 2007 internet poster pool is GONE; they are not coming back. People cannot even use thumbnails correctly. This is that state of things today.

I have never run a forum, but why not communicate with the sites users.
Explain the change you are going to make. Lay it out and tell us why! Pin the link to the top of the page, send out an alert to everybody informing them that a change is coming. Why do I have to click through links in Q&A to get to this information? Why is it our job to piece together why a certain change was made? I promise you that the reaction this change brought would have looked a lot different, and there would have been way less people chimping out.
If you like it or not, a lot of people (me included) used notifications as a feature to navigate the farms. For people who post in less frequented threads, a reaction often indicated movement. It's also a good reminder to check back into a thread.
And yes, I tried watched threads and I just don't like how they work. I'll make it work somehow but I still don't like them.

I don't know why you make these descisions the way you do, but you have to stop, man. Work with you community. A lot of us actually care about the sites well being. Enough to donate over $150'000.
