Despite hating advertisers I'm pro self-promotion on the forum, mainly because it is good for legitimisation. Obviously, the advertising should be on topic and spammers should be nuked on sight. But if Null is allowing people to do self-promotion here, he ought to be getting something out of it as far as I'm concerned. Perhaps limiting self-promotion to T&H holders, or a new tier of donation to the site specifically for self-promotion? Just a thought.

I feel that it's an easy dox target. My vote is for no, BUT, create a sock that has NOTHING to do with your primary kiwifarms account.
We're smarter than this.
I want to do business with you guys, commissions and what not, but if my tax info gets out I'm fucked harder than MadThad's body pillow.

I'm an artfag so I'd support sharing something creative like art/music/games/mods, but it's definitely at the risk of the poster. I think it's still not a great idea to firmly associate your brand with the Farms, and you also run the risk of making yourself look like a complete boob.

If there was a designated "Look at this project I have" thread in Art and Literature, or just in Off-Topic, that would keep it all corraled. The rules would need to be pretty clear and well-enforced.

As others have said if it's relevant and they have the balls to advertise here on the forum let them. I'm always looking for based alternatives to the nigger faggot slop that gets promoted nowadays so I see no harm as long as they're obeying all other rules and not spamming. Who knows something cool and really based might get funded, and anyone stupid enough to promote something actually retarded on here will get absolutely shredded.

Discussion encouraged
I'll echo what seems to be the consensus and give cautious approval.

It's too soon to draw a line but keep an eye out for where that line should be drawn if issues arise.

Like everyone else has probably said, it should mostly be allowed, on the basis that if you're posting it here that's a big retard move that could land you in hot water, and it will be funny to laugh at you if you weren't already made unemployable by brightly-haired lunatics before then.

I would love to promote my blogs, website, and other projects on Kiwi Farms, as well as any random shit I have to sell.

The problem is, I have built up a wall between Kiwi Farms and the rest of my activity on the Internet—it's not perfect opsec and a team of dedicated autists could probably figure it out if they felt I was a big enough target. On the plus side, I can talk about things I wouldn't and can't talk about elsewhere. On the minus side I can't self-promote my stuff that I feel some of the autists here would probably enjoy.

I mean… if the guy posts a picture he drew of chris chan for like a cameo in his webcomic, but said nothing like “check out my other stuff “. I think it’s fine. Promoting stuff on a place like kiwi farms seems a little bizarre. cause I wouldn’t want my shit to be known for being big on kiwi farms

Anyone looking to self-promote get one free post, preferably as a thread OP. They can reply to anyone interacting with the thread, but cannot bump it. If they want more than that; fuck you pay me. Anyone promoting third parties get an insta-ban.

Voting "No," only in regard to the idea of "separate yourself from the forum" guidance. Willing to say yes, but in the spirit of protecting oneself and the effort Josh puts in to protect anon weirdos from our IRL persons, saying no. Have no problem with people putting themselves at risk should they want, and total advertiser death; but the guidance exists for a reason. Would like to see society change and realize we're not that bad and have a lower kill count than some of the people featured here.

I think the biggest negatives to self promotion are caught already by spamming rules.

Would be cool to someday have a KF yellowpages / adspace that users could choose to look at and pay to put stuff in.

If people want to advertise their gay shit they can enter the Thunderdome of autistic reality. God Sneed to them.

What was the name of the book and where was it advertised?
I voted yes in principle, but some people are attention whores.

Edit with example.
If this poll sways toward allowing self-promotion, I would unironically like to take this opportunity to promote my Buymeacoffee.

I think it should be a case by case example, and relevant to the site.

For example, some dude like Crunklord wants to make some money off his TempleOS games, that's site adjacent, more power to him and I believe he should be able to use the forum to help him out.

Some faggot like Mike Lindell wants to push his stupid My Sex Pillow or whatever retarded normie product....probably not a good thing.

But hey, so long as I can read about retards being retards on the internet, then I will be happy. I am sure you and the mods will figure it out after some trial and error.

Edit: For the record, the entire reason why I decided to make a Kiwifarms account is because I know this place has a reputation for putting truth out there and holding its own feet to the fire to maintain this reputation. I also felt extremely welcome. I didn't come here with the intention of grifting. You guys are smart and can smell bullshit from ten miles away.

But I would absolutely be fucking lying if I said that I do not want this community as a fanbase. You guys make edgy jokes, can be pretty mean, but you guys are honest. Honesty is all that matters. I don't know. I can see how what I am saying looks very gay; but at the same time, the rest of the internet SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. So maybe you can understand where I am coming from. I do have ideas. I hate letting other people down, I hate not fulfilling promises, and I fucking hate not achieving my dreams.

Or you can just call me a furfag, lol.

This is my literal take to a T. I also have a small wall between who I am on the farms and who I am off the farms, like you said, if someone was bored, they could figure out who I was. I'm sure some people here would also enjoy my stuff and my insight, not many, but some.

I do like the idea of self promoting as long as it's in the correct places and not over spamming. Since this is such an early idea, for sure we'd have to keep a careful eye and most likely change the rules for it every once awhile when people start abusing the privilege.

How about being paid for advertisements in posts themselves? Like how YouTubers do it. While I’m autistically discussing the newest shitshow that Dick Masterson and Nick Reketia got up to, I copypasta an Add for Raid Shadow Legends or Manscaped and get paid to be on Kiwi Farms

Maybe limit it to older accounts, or users that are decently active?

Having a containment board for self promotion would be a good idea.

I'm surprised this is actually the first this has happened. I haven't visited the Comicsgate thread in a while, but I would have thought some of the few gaters that were posting on here would have promoted themselves at some point.

Either way, I see enough people low key advertising (allegedly) other peoples shit so why not allow people to advertise themselves so I vote yes.
