But what do you guys think of Swinging and Open relationships?
I think they have an "Ethics of Polyamory" (not actual name) thread in Deep Thoughts somewhere.

Lots of crossover with polyamory. I honestly think that Polyamory is just the SJW version of swinging, but with more emotions involved. Probably why polyamory seems to work out less often than purely sexual swinging. Polyamorous people just seem much more like cows than swingers because polyamory as a concept is childish. Simply put, being emotionally and sexually involved with multiple people and no jealousy is unrealistic- humans are hardwired to look for unfairness and you can never spend an equal amount of time with four different people, or even genuinely like them all equally. There will always be a least favorite. And they will know.

Open relationships are either for people who are not mature enough to have a real relationship (or maybe I am mistaking open relationships for "dating around"?) and people who think their marriage can be saved by showing their dissatisfied spouse what other, better people have to offer.

Polyamorous people also seem to have a lot more SJ attached to their lifestyle, complete with Instagram infographics and Hot Topic pins and a pride flag and "POLYAMOROUS PEOPLE ARE ____________" mantraposts on Tumblr. I have more respect for people who are quiet about weird shit they're into.

Thanks for the reply. May well take a look when I have time.

Interesting.

One could also say to find outside their marriage what they feel is missing in their marriage. There is that saying that if your SI is talking about Open relationships despite not being for it before, they already have someone in mind and may well already be cheating on you with them but now want to do it openly for reasons.

I think that people consider the honeymoon feelings in the begining of relationships as the Love part and this is what poisons relationships now cause said feelings disappear with time, its inevitable and cause its not there. People think they don't love their partner anymore or all sorts of other reasons one could mention.

Polyamorous people also seem to have a lot more SJ attached to their lifestyle, complete with Instagram infographics and Hot Topic pins and a pride flag and "POLYAMOROUS PEOPLE ARE ____________" mantraposts on Tumblr. I have more respect for people who are quiet about weird shit they're into.
yeah, they do seem to be trying to normalize it to everyone like propaganda, no?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Its a 138 page thread and I haven't read it all.

But what do you guys think of Swinging and Open relationships?

For Poly? We have this entire thread so hence I'm interested in your guys opinions on the specific previously mentioned.
It's not committed like a polycule is and I think that makes more sense. An open relationship, in my opinion, cannot possibly work if you have kids. if you're single, or way older and kids are not living with you, OK I guess. But the problem I see with poly and swinging is mostly it's hurting kids... and also if you want kids, it will fuck you up.

Imagine being raised by a single mom who is trying to date while working and raising you.

Now imagine your parents are actually still together, but they're trying to date, while working and not raising you.

Also, from what I have heard, women are the primary winners in Open relationships cause its easy for them while men are shit out of luck, is this correct?
Whoever has the most power (in whichever sense is most relevant to the situation) is the winner. That's usually the woman in a middle-class Western situation.

depends on the situation really
the 'winner' is usually the person who wants to open the relationship in the first place because that one usually has some prospective fuckbuddy lined up and ready to go in advance, and the other partner often isn't all that interested in going out dating again

but yes in general women tend to have an easier time looking for hookups than men

That's not always true. Don't forget the delightful subgenre of "I asked my partner to open our relationship, now they're dating three new people and I'm not having any luck. They wouldn't dump my metamours when I asked to go back to monogamy."

Eugh, I know people IRL who think polyamory is anything but degenerate. I'm just saying man: if you're able to exist in a "polyamorous" relationship without issue: good for you, but your experiences are the exception and not the norm.

Most of the time, you won't end up like a chad swimming in pussy. You'll end up like poor ol' Jerry here: dying on the inside while your wife gets rawdogged by another man in front of your own kids.

“Understanding” husbands cucks himself into letting the wife fuck around, and asks R/polyamory about a pressing issue: How can he help his wife not feel guilt about pissing all over their marriage vows?

A poly-widower sets him straight:

Ouch: “The deep sadness and betrayal of being demoted from being her one and only, the love of her life for 14 years, to just being another guy she fucked sometimes. Which is exactly what I ended up being.

I get the feeling that those "failed dates" thought she was just trying to cheat and dumped her (for all the right reasons)

"we both" :story:

Well... They are!

He’s so determined to avoid a divorce that he’s willing to swallow his pride and let her sleep around.

And I’m sure she’s also very serious about being able to get dick on the side, without losing the comfort and financial benefits of keeping her husband. ;)

She could have fucked around any time, but nope. She took the time to grind his resistance down and be ok with getting cucked.

Here’s another winner from r/polyamory... After fifteen years of marriage, the magic in the bedroom is lost, and hubby has been quietly resentful the past five years over the lack of sex.

No, he didn’t cheat! OP has morals you see. But he did finally “find himself” and figured out that “he’s poly”.

See, it’s not cheating or being a sex-focused asshole if it’s an orientation!

You know, some people are born gay, some people are born bisexual. Some people are born asexual. And some people are born with the urge to slam new and unexplored vaginas without going through a messy divorce! Don’t be a bigot!

I have a sneaking suspicion he won't go down on his wife and he's unforgivably bad at sex. I noticed he did not mention anything about "I asked my wife why she won't fuck me, and this is what she said."

There has go to be something going on that killed the bedroom, which he's avoiding. Maybe he let himself go and is fat now. Maybe his hygiene has gotten awful. Maybe he makes no effort to be sexy and fashionable. Maybe he doesn't take his wife out on dates. Maybe his wife is depressed. Maybe his kinks are disgusting. Whatever it is, he didn't "learn" he's poly. He came to the conclusion poly might be good because the bedroom is dead and he wants sex.

I'm sorry, but by looking at the polycules posted in the thread I thought that these were already a given.

Polyamory as far as I've seen is like "pansexuality". You want whatever you can get your hands on, and it's typically other people with low or no standards. Otherwise, why would you do this to yourself?

They can result in some pretty amusing and similar situations to poly.

So Austin Green is a cuck?
Allso unrelated, I've been seeing it thrown around in some of the screenshots here and have to ask, what the fuck is a metamour? Is is like an animorph but with higher levels of soy?
Metamour is your parter's parter. Term to describe that you aren't dating this person but kinda in relationship because of the person between.
